Any of you planning a trip to Kew Retail park tomorrow?

Fingers crossed I will have somebody to have coffee/lunch with

SushiMummy · 11/09/2007 12:21

Stella, so this is who you are, then! Thanks for the advice on my ebay thread.

StellaPolaris · 11/09/2007 12:23

doh* did not think to tell you I have changed cloak.

Tsarinas have to chose a new name that will be coded on our local sites. So I have chosen StellaPolaris. I reckon I can still post as Starry? Need to figure that on out.

MrsRecycle · 11/09/2007 13:08

Hi Stella/Starry - I'm didn't realise I'd have to choose a new name for being Hillingdon's Tsarina - better get thinking now! How is your AP doing? Is she up for meeting others if so I can put her in touch with mine who is feeling a bit lonely and homesick.

Hi Foxie - so glad to hear about your work - I'll try and wrangle a day off in the week and we can meet up.

COV - they grow up so quick don't they?

Mellow - are you sure you're not me - I'm working 12 hour days and have to deal with 3 kids, an AP and dh.

Talking of which must get back to work....

StellaPolaris · 11/09/2007 13:18

MrsRecycle,
did you get an email from Carrie? You are all powerful now! You can edit and delete listings, etc, with your own "tools". The name will be hardcoded on the page for everybody visiting your local edition can see who is tsarina.
There is also a new topic called tsarinas hideout. For tsarinas to chat.

I think the idea is that you have your tsarina name for your tsarina efforts, it is all explained in the mail from Carrie.

My new AuPair is from Norway, will be 20 at the end of the month, she is a little lonely. she is lovely, she does yoga, and is starting a beginners course in Japanese language on thursday!

How is your AP? Working out well?

MrsRecycle · 11/09/2007 13:27

Our AP is Swedish but lives in Denmark and is 19 so I think they are close in age. Also, my AP wants to specialise in a career in languages so she'd be interested in hearing about the Japanese course. She is really nice and completely different to other three. Very quiet but very clued up. Is your AP available this weekend - perhaps they could meet up in West London somewhere and go sightseeing/shopping together. We can just introduce them, via email, and they can arrange to meet-up. I did try and send you a CAT message - did you get it? If not, I'll resend and then forward you my APs email address.

StellaPolaris · 11/09/2007 13:31

I am subscribing to Kat, but I have never got one, so dont know how I know if I have one! LOL!

It seems like they will get on, she is extremely interested in languages and cultures, she wants to study anthropology or something in Uni, after a year out as AP.

kew... liking your bread recipe but, dear god..can't marks & sparks warm it up for you?

hello mrsr and starry/stella

so much for my "back to school" resolution not to spend work days anywhere near MN

foxcub · 11/09/2007 13:39

Hi Stella - what is a Tsarina? Excuse my ignorance

Kew _ PMSL at your recipes

MrsR - would love to meet up when you get a few hours off - would be lovely to catch up

StellaPolaris · 11/09/2007 13:42

Foxcub, a tsarina is like a local site editor. Tsarinas help add listings to make MN a better site with information about what to do and where to go with kids.

Kewcumber · 11/09/2007 13:51

didn;t realise Tsarina's had power...

OP posts:
StellaPolaris · 11/09/2007 13:54

Oh but we are, I can take down a listing you add in 2 seconds flat, now how annoying would that be??

[eyeroll emoticon] But of course we wouldnt abuse our powers .... LOL

stepfordwife · 11/09/2007 13:54

..sure it's not too late for you to apply, kew...

StellaPolaris · 11/09/2007 13:55

And it might even warrant you to chose a new nic, such as AllMightyKewCumber!

sorry just jesting.

Kewcumber · 11/09/2007 13:58

actually that name has a certain ring to it...

OP posts:
Kewcumber · 11/09/2007 13:59

where do I sign up (it doesn't have any responsibilities does it?)

OP posts:
StellaPolaris · 11/09/2007 14:03

I will dig out the sign up link, give me a second.

Not really, only to add listings of things to do, and events locally, and encourage other mumsnetters you know to do the same... All in your time, you can do as little or as much as you chose.

I actually won a break to Europa park in Germany for the listings I added. So, there could be perks too!

MrsRecycle · 11/09/2007 14:34

Hi Steppie!!

Starry - have emailed you...

StellaPolaris · 11/09/2007 14:45

Thank you MrsS, I have replied!

StellaPolaris · 11/09/2007 14:45

um. MrsR

StellaPolaris · 11/09/2007 17:54

My au pair had a slightly worrying experience outside the school gates today on pickup time. This man started talking to her, asking her name, told her that he really likes nannies and aupairs, and "see you tomorrow!. She was a bit freaked. You reckon she has reason to? I mean she was there with my 2 year old and my 5 year old.

Any similar experiences anyone?

(Still Starry in Latin cloak)

sfxmum · 11/09/2007 18:27

SP is he a parent? older brother? many? loser creep?

seriously do you think she is street wise enough to deal with him?

my guess would be keep cool ignore him talk to other people

StellaPolaris · 11/09/2007 19:07

I dont know, I have never had such experiences around my sons school, but then, I am a 35 year old mum of two, and not, ahem a perky 19 year old! I have emailed the other mums in the class and asked if they or their nannies / au pairs have had similar experiences.

ComeOVeneer · 11/09/2007 19:27

Evening all. Well the day has had its good and its bad points. DS loved nursery and did fine, butwas very tired and cranky later this afternoon.

I managed to do a load of laundry without actually putting the clothes in the machine, just detergent and softner, then when hanging it on the line some kind of insect flew into my ear and I managed to get stung by something in my ear so spent the last hour dragging the lids to the doctor (my doctor closes at 6 but stayed open for me, they were great) SHE CHECKED IF ANTHING IS STILL IN THERE (oops) which there doesn't seem to be but it is too swollen in the tube to be certain (I swear I can feel something moving around in there but prob just paranoid).

So now have painkillers and some sort of ear drops. Typically dh is working late tonight so have had to drag kids (in there pj's) out with me, then it dawned on me I should have asked one of the neighbours to watch them (not used to having friendly/helpful neighbours).
