Just thought I would get this up and running before the old one is full.

Well, we met at Pizzaexpress to have dinner and he kept it quiet till getting back home. Suppose he wanted me to feel guilty about last night.

Can't really resisit "Dancing queen" and "1999" by Prince. How sad...

stepfordwife · 04/08/2007 22:41

come on, sushi and lemon...love cats, dancing queen and 1999 are positively classy...
as opposed to
hi ho silver lining

stepfordwife · 04/08/2007 22:42

..or "yes sir, i can boogie" ...

(i am only 102, honest)

lemonaid · 04/08/2007 22:45

"You're The One That I Want"?

With everyone joining in in imprompteu alcohol-fuelled karaoke, of course...

lemonaid · 04/08/2007 22:46

I notice that you (wisely) don't even attempt to class "Come On Eileen" as classy...

stepfordwife · 04/08/2007 22:47

oooh-ohh ohh-ohh

stepfordwife · 04/08/2007 22:50

come on, eileen has a very special place in my heart, lemon. my very first boss was called eileen and us young whippersnappers would go out, get rolling drunk and dnace to aformentioned song, replacing "come on.." with "f**k off..."

oh how we laughed...{grin]

stepfordwife · 04/08/2007 22:50

even

Paddlechick666 · 04/08/2007 23:33

evening all - it was a gay wedding so I guess it's possible that Dancing Queen might've been to be expected.

however, the reception was at a very cool club near Oxford Street and there was no cheesy music to be had at all!

altho I do recall one Scissor Sisters track.

we had to leave about 9ish due to the club night starting and us realising we were totally over dressed, not nearly cool enough and definately not skinny enough!

ended up meeting friends at the Walkabout who'd just finished the Monopoly Board pub crawl - big mistake!

It was a lovely day, really enjoyed it. Glad to be home, off to bed shortly.

Can't wait to see dd tomorrow!

SushiMummy · 05/08/2007 09:38

morning all. looks like another scorcher on the way.

QC, the Japanese mums live in West London (one in St Mags and the other in Ashford) so they can be part of our gang.

Paddlechick666 · 05/08/2007 10:14

did I mention that whilst I was at the Walkabout I noticed the following:

I was surely old enough to be mother to some of them!

I have a better figure at twice their age and having had a child.

Forgive me whilst I have a moment of pure SMUG - LOL!

Off to Oxford shortly to see the Chosen One.

Have a lovely day all.

sfxmum · 05/08/2007 12:30

hi everyone

bit hot at the playground earlier, think we will lie low then out out late afternoon for a bike ride or stroll by the river.

LOL at playlist you lot are classy no Village people mentioned

Kewcumber · 05/08/2007 14:04

COme on Eileen is the track of my sixth form brings back fond memories.

I went out to Kew early (10am) to avoid the heat then dumped DS with my mum for an hour so I could go washing machine shopping.

May go back to Kew after tea at 5.30 for an hour as it should be cooler again then. Then we can go straight home into the bath then bed. Perfect.

Ooh yes do include your friends in future (anyone who blows bubbles for DS gets my vote as I'm rubbish).

OK off to investigate washing machines online...

SJ99 · 05/08/2007 14:30

Hello again!

have been in Twickers just over a month and our new pc finally arrived so can now join in your chat proper, hooray. Am really enjoying living here so far but could do with some pals
Come on Eileen's a classic along with Simple minds 'Don't you forget about me'

Glad you had a great time at the wedding Paddle

foxcub · 05/08/2007 18:57

Hi again SJ - look forward to meeting you soon I hope

Kew - don't buy a beko - they're crap. Ours keeps breaking down.

errr, talking of which ...We decided to visit my Mum just outsied Bath today - car broke down in sweltering heat on M4. Must get this car fixed properly. This is the 2nd time in 3 months - bought a new battery but there is clearly another problem

DS1 enjoyed the adventure very much - 'specially the ride in the rescue truck.

DD is becominhg a connesseur [sp] of scaffolding. She makes comments like "look, that's a nice scaffold!"

SJ99 · 05/08/2007 19:07

Thanks Foxcub. Your journey sounds like nightmare, poor you stuck on m'way in this heat.
We went to the Urban Farm today which was good trip out. Unfortunately our pig didn't even bother starting let alone finishing the race . I blame the heat (sore loser that I am). Must check out Kew beach, that sounds fun too.

Slink · 05/08/2007 19:09

Hi Slinky here i know i don't get on here often, i am as ever trying to wean dd 7months off the breast especially in this heat, also have dd 6 to amuse and bless it is fun during school hols, there is sooooo much to go through but are there any meet ups this next week? I'm in Southall xxxx

Kewcumber · 05/08/2007 19:56

I'm off Thursday as well as Friday next week so hoping the weather is good for Kew and/or my new tidy garden.

Kewcumber · 05/08/2007 20:04

no foxie - I was looking at hotpoint and hoover and decided to be sensible and subscribe to Which to check them out - have now switched to AEG. H&H have terrible reliability scores and as I tend to keep my washing machines for 10 yrs would like them to be reliable.

In fact discussed it with my mum to get in and discover that she has ordered (and paid for ) it from John Lewis. She has a scan coming up and always starts spending money on us all when that happens. In all likelihood her cancer will return at some point (she is currently in remission) and its horrible not knowing but suspecting at every scan that this one might be the one. Her last check up said she had "suspicious patches" so she is obviously thinking the worst.

SushiMummy · 05/08/2007 20:25

QC, so sorry to hear about your mum and sincerely hope there will be good news.

Hi SJ and Slink!

Went to North Sheen and St Mags/Twickers today to look at houses. North Sheen is nice and family friendly, isn't it? The one in St Mags/Twickers is just behind the railway so maybe not.

Kewcumber · 05/08/2007 20:56

don;t forget to suss out schools Sushi - some of the Twickers bunch had problems getting their dc's into decent primary schools - talk to Oxo.

Not sure about the catchment for north sheen - I assume Darrell which has good ofstead and holy trinity which I don;t think is rated.

foxcub · 05/08/2007 21:17

Holy Trinity is not very good at all. darrell is OK - but Marshgate is very popular and has wonderful facilities Deffo north sheen catchment for that!!

Which roads were you looking at Sushi (in N Sheen)?

QC - your poor Mum! She must be so worried I hope it turns out OK, she seems like a great Mum and a really caring woman.

I'm up for meets this week. have appointments Monday and Weds mornings but free apart from that.

We should try Bunny farm in hanwell one day - err, when I have a car that works that is!

Until that time I am free for Kew meets

sfxmum · 05/08/2007 21:19

hello everyone

hi slinky and sj

this week i only have tue and wd pm free, unusually booked up in advance week.

KC seems like a normal reaction from your mum bless her, fingers crossed the nasty thing holds out a while longer. hope you ok too

so did anyone go to the north sheen rec? was it a couple of stall?

sushi good luck house hunting not my favourite sport, esp. worrying about schools catchment areas etc.

foxcub · 05/08/2007 21:25

North Sheen Rec was 5 chavvy old birds with tatoos and a stall selling very sad plants for 50p!! Despite Steppy's attempt to "big it up"
