Just thought I would get this up and running before the old one is full.

clearly Riverside primary fete is the event of the season round these parts

lemonaid · 05/08/2007 21:30

Have friends with DS at Marshgate and DD about to follow in September and they say it is very good. They are in North Sheen (round about Grena Road / Townshend Terrace area). Where have you been looking, Sushi?

SushiMummy · 05/08/2007 21:48

Thanks for your interest.

Well, there's a fairly new development (think c14 years) called Hester Terrance, just off Darrell school. Much quieter than we thought and v close to North Sheen rec. In fact we were there this morning and DS nearly jumped into the pool with all his clothes on.

We still prefer Kew Riverside so try stick around this area if we could.

Kewcumber · 05/08/2007 22:07

Hester Terrace may still be on Kew riversides catchment. They might tell you if you ask, alhtough its closer to Darrell, it is still quite close to Kew riverside, in fact closer thn you are now I think.

foxcub · 05/08/2007 22:15

I think its further isn't it??? Or maybe not? You'd be in the Marshgate catchment though, I'll wager

Kewcumber · 05/08/2007 22:16

Isn;t sushi on the Gardens side of the railway line? So anything our side of the tracks would be closer to Kew riverside wouldn;t it?

SushiMummy · 05/08/2007 22:48

It's probably the same distance but I wouldn't have to walk over the rail line, i.e. going up/down the bridge everyday if we live in North Sheen. Also we'd be closer to your CM if she's available in a few years time that is. Could we still say 'we live in Kew'?

StarryStarryNight · 05/08/2007 22:56

Can I just ask, I know where east sheen is, but where is NORTH sheen?

SushiMummy · 05/08/2007 23:05

It's south east of Kew, I think. North of Manor Road?

StarryStarryNight · 05/08/2007 23:08

Close to budweiser brewery, sort of area?

lemonaid · 06/08/2007 06:23

North Sheen station is on Manor Road, between Sainsburys / Homebase and the Upper Richmond Road.

sfxmum · 06/08/2007 09:13

good morning all

dd still asleep am having my coffee and MN in peace and quiet

dd will be entertained by teen cousins today and i can have a good natter with sis, marvelous!

SushiMummy · 06/08/2007 09:39

Morning all.

It was so hot in DS's room last night he managed to strip himself and had almost nothing on when I went in this morning. He was coughing a bit and I hope he's not caught a cold.

Thanks for all the school info, btw.

rosmerta · 06/08/2007 09:41

morning all

Am glad that ds is in nursery this am, had huge tantrums over his breakfast and the only way I could get him to eat it was to sit him on the tumble dryer - it wasn't switched on at the time though!

Had a busy weekend with Kew on Saturday & Southend yesterday which was interesting though v v hot!

I'm around Tues, Weds & Thurs if anyone wants to meet up - foxie, still have dd's present to hand over!

SushiMummy · 06/08/2007 11:01

BTW, saw Lawrence Dallaglio (sp?) in St Mags y'day. He's v v handsome in RL!

stepfordwife · 06/08/2007 11:03

morning, all
hope you enjoyed the glorious day yesterday
we ended up having an impromptu barbi with loads of boys spalshing about in our thomas the tank engine pool. fun...very noisy, but fun!

kew, so sorry to hear your mum's worries. it's horrible having that fear hanging over you all, isn't it? but i really hope the scan goes ok.

sushi - as kew says, darell has just got a very good ofsted report - in fact a few areas were "outstanding." i like the school as it's got a good ethnic and social mix and i don't want my little fellas grwoing up thinking everyome is white/middle-class/lives in a 6-bedroom house/has a weekend cottage in dorset/a gitte in britanny/etc

although, i hasten to add, doesn't mean they're not perfectly nice peple and that i don't aspire to some of those things myself

the whole school issue can be so emotive but everyone just wants to make the best choice for their child.

right, better get back to looking for my damn mobile..
have a fab day everyone
toodlepip

stepfordwife · 06/08/2007 11:05

sushi, many moons ago, dh used to pay in same team as LD, i'm always suggesting he gets back in touch with him so we can be bessie mates and be invited to their big, posh house - in direct contradiction of my earlier social discourse

sfxmum · 06/08/2007 11:09

fans of LD should hang around M&S at the retail park i see him there frequently, very pleasant and relaxed with his kids.

honestly he does not look like a man at all to me, always think of a naked roman statue striking a pose, so not my thing

ComeOVeneer · 06/08/2007 11:12

Morning all. Glad to see everyone has been taking advantage of this glorious weather. We had a lovely weekend. I took the children down to saty at my parents and meet up with my sister and her troop. We did swimming/picnics/bbq all very relaxing. Dh meanwhile stayed here and kept an eye on the builders. He then spent yeasterday doing a lod of diy, mowed the lawn, housework and laundry . The floor in the kitchen is going down as we spek, I am off the get some paint samples this afternoon, and the tiles are being delivered tomorrow, and the fridge on Wednesday. It is looking lovely and I can cook again .

Steppie, so your DS has those muscles, too?

Honestly, it's a criminal offence to wear those tight t-shirts in public!

Steppie, you've got a very good point! I know quiet a few Anglo/Japanese kids (some are adults) in England and most has/had some issues of identification so I want to be extra careful when choosing schools for DS.

SushiMummy · 06/08/2007 11:26

sorry, i meant DH.

Kewcumber · 06/08/2007 11:35

I'm aboslutely with you Sushi - even more imprtant for me as DS doesn't even have a parent who looks similar. Kew is quite a good area for asian/oriental/mixed race familes I think (though thin on the Kazakhs!)

SushiMummy · 06/08/2007 11:44

QC, you and DS don't look dissimilar to me. It just looks so natural you and DS together, maybe families grow to look like each other, like facial expressions, IYSWIM. Sorry I can't really explain well in English.

stepfordwife · 06/08/2007 12:41

sushi, sadly not well, he has got the muscles but they are hidden by more than a tight t-shirt. ie: love handles and "cuddly" bits these days..

Kewcumber · 06/08/2007 12:42

Several people have said he looks like me which makes me laugh and I put it down to people thinking thats what I want to hear. I think language makes a difference to your facial muscles and therefore subtly changes your expression also I was told by a beautician once that she could tell peopels comman expression by the deep lines in their face (ie a smiler/frowner etc) so I'm sure that familial expressions do make a difference.

i was once told that Chinese Americans who gorw up speaking English as a first langauge look slightly different to those who grew up in CHina. I have no iea if that is true.
