Brand new thread for July.

Mornin' everyone. Who is going to Nanou's leaving do? The interest so far from the West London crowd is... well... a bit disappointing. Come on people. Let's send her off in style!

Nanou is Leaving Us

eleusis · 23/07/2007 09:03

COV, I thought Id leave it up to you to add what you wish to offer in terms of your house. Didn't want to speak out of turn again. So, please don't be offended that I didn't mention your house. As I said before, I'm happy to go to Thames Ditton. But, if you don't want our drunken festivities to descend on you, I'm also happy to go elsewhere.

Whatever people want to do is fine. And if everyone wants to do Sept. 07, then I'll do my best to get from Stansted to the party as fast as I can. DH will not like this, but I'll just have to beg.

ComeOVeneer · 23/07/2007 09:19

"But, if you don't want our drunken festivities to descend on you, I'm also happy to go elsewhere." Ele I never said that. I am more than happy to host a meet-up and/or Nanou's do hence the reason I offerd my house as a venue.

Kewcumber · 23/07/2007 09:22

do I need to read back through the htread - have I missed anything else apart from Nanous leaving do (which I've posted on...)

Kewcumber · 23/07/2007 09:30

Cov, have you had your new kitchen floor laid yet? What do you think of it? Am considering it for mine as I have floorboards in my kitchen and my current tiles are coming up.

ComeOVeneer · 23/07/2007 09:42

Not yet KC they come on Saturday to deliver the kitchen and rip out the old one a week today. Hopefully they will lay the floor and do the wall tiles the following week. We still nedd to order the fridge (like yours) to be delivered once all of that is done. (I have a tiny fridge that my SIL used to have in her room at uni to cover me in the meanwhile), not quite sure what we are going to eat during this chaos, but at least my parents are having the children for 3 days. I have to finish clearing the garage to make space for them to deliver the new kitchen, sort the playroom which looks like a huge bomb has exploded (to give them working room), box up the contents of the kitchen cupboards, sort and buy dd's school uniform for next term and pack for our holidays, all whilst dealing with the 2 children and this constant rain. I already have a headache.

DH has now said I should go and choose the wall tiles and order them by myself, which I was happy to do weeks ago but thought I should let him have soome input. Love the way he waits until the school holidays to let me know.

Kewcumber · 23/07/2007 09:48

Can I come around and admire them when they are down (pretty please)...

Sounds a nightmare but it will be lovely when its finished. You're more than welcome to come cook at my house Fri/Sat/Sun and take it home to microwave for rest of the week. (obviously leaving a portion at mine)

Kewcumber · 23/07/2007 09:48

FYI - my fridge was from Curry's they had teh best selection at the best prices when I did my research but that may have changed now...

ComeOVeneer · 23/07/2007 10:00

Thanks for the tip re Currys. I know it will be worth it, after all I will have an oven that is actually dangerous to put my head in .

Kewcumber · 23/07/2007 10:05

there is a curry's and a comet in the same row in Isleworth which is worth trying because they compete on price and its easy to wander bweteen the two.

mellow2 · 23/07/2007 10:52

I think it's very kind of COV to offer to host but Thames Ditton is too far for me to get to as I don't drive and dh has to babysit.

If it were nearer, I would like to make Nanou's leaving do.

But I'm not asking for a change of venue on my behalf.

I'm fairly new to the thread, after all.

Heh hem.... chat about Nanou's go away party here please.

Kewcumber · 23/07/2007 11:07

mellow - where-ever it is I will probably be driving and I don't think you're far out of my way are you? Would be happy to give you a lift.

mellow2 · 23/07/2007 11:14

Sorry, ele

Morning all.

Like Paddle, we went to Kew Gardens yesterday but went to C&C as DS doesn't like to walk on the beach in bare feet.

Did Gherkin-kun get to see the sea? Or even dip in the sea?

ComeOVeneer · 23/07/2007 11:35

Sushi when ds was about 1 he refused to let the sand toughhis feet. when we tried to put him down on the beach he raised his knees up to his ears to prevent himself from touching it (was the same with grass). It was quite handy to prevent him crawling of, we used to put him in a pop up sun tent with some toys and he stayed put so ne chasing him around and he was out of the sun.

ComeOVeneer · 23/07/2007 11:36

"Touch his feet" I mean

mellow2 · 23/07/2007 11:37

Hi Sushimummy,

Thanks for recommending Atari-ya to me. We've been thrice for sashimi and I even bought clams for Japanese clam soup.

I think I'll be buying my provisions from them in the future as their bonito for dashi is half the price it is in the Ealing Commons store.

Do you think it's worthwhile for me to go to the Kingston store? Is it a much bigger store with lots more stuff?

foxcub · 23/07/2007 11:42

Kew - is there really a music event in Kew on 18/19 August. I've looked on Kew Gardens website and its not on there. I'm trying to find out as I have my bookclub potentially that weekend and am trying to avoid a clash of events!!

Do you know any of the details?

Thanx

eeerrr, hi everyone else

SushiMummy · 23/07/2007 11:49

Yes, CoV, DS doesn't like to stand on the grass in bare feet, either. I'm glad he's not the only one.

Mellow, the one in Kingston isn't as nice as the one in Acton. Although it's the same chain but the fish is much better in Acton. It's a tad bigger in Kingston but not much.

Paddlechick666 · 23/07/2007 11:57

dd was a bit funny about grass but not anymore. she's not bothered about sand either but not a problem on Planet LittlePaddle either way as she refuses to take her wellies off..........

ps: QC, can i bag a lift too if it's a mutually agreeable night?

pps: MrsR would offer to babysit ds 3rd August but with dd at Grandma's i'm planning on being out somewhere by god!

StarryStarryNight · 23/07/2007 12:03

So, WHO else than me, COV and MrsRecycle is coming to Cho San tomorrow 8pm?

MrsRecycle · 23/07/2007 12:16

Thanks for the offer pc - if you're on a loose end that night, you can always come to the party with dh and I (I'm sure they'll be loads of single men there!!).
