Brand new thread for July.

OP posts:
ComeOVeneer · 16/07/2007 12:00

It gets better. Just went to put fresh towles indd's bathroom and discovered one of the goldfish (the one we got a couple of months ago to replace one that died) floating dead in the tank, so have had to flush it. There will be tears tonight.

eleusis · 16/07/2007 12:06

Get another one before tonight.

Paddlechick666 · 16/07/2007 12:11

oh feckin hell! none of my business clothes fit me at all.

grrr!

haven't put the offer in yet. guess i am prevaricating because i am fully aware of how limited my options are tbh.

am going to offer 7.5 less than asking price so will prob get knocked back anyway.

right, i'm off but i'm not sure where to!

Kewcumber · 16/07/2007 12:13

if you arrive early text me - I'm only 5 mins form liverpool st...

Kewcumber · 16/07/2007 12:14

Cov - think you should have a large funeral and wake.

Kewcumber · 16/07/2007 12:15

oh too late just realised you'd flushed it. I remember our funerals - t'was very solemn.

ComeOVeneer · 16/07/2007 12:24

Ele I'm not going to replace it. She has one perfectly healthy gold goldfish, this was a black fancy one, we have had 2 and they have both died after three months. I think we will just stick with the one for now. I had to flush it KC as I couldn't leave it floating n the tank until she got home from school andif I put it somewhere one of the cats is bound to get it which will make matters worse.

I still have yoghurt dripping out the bottom of the freezer. I just love Mondays

stepfordwife · 16/07/2007 12:44

blimey..cov.. and it's barely lunchtime yet..

yes, kew, the phrase "his people" bit clan-eseque, eh?! but you know hat i meant and a 2-year-old clawing at your back isn't conducive to eloquence..well, that's my excuse anyway

right better go and bye my ma a birthday pressie - it's today and despite her "oh don't bother to buy me anything" "it's just another day at my age" "save your money.." we all know they don't mean that at all..
toodlepip

stepfordwife · 16/07/2007 12:45

buy even
bye..

mellow2 · 16/07/2007 15:13

Thanks for the advice, gals. In the end, I gave it to the second poster 'cos she said she definitely wanted it first.

xoxo · 16/07/2007 16:31

gosh, it's all go here, isn't it...

ok - scoop on resignation will have to wait as I'm paranoid over who might be in my work in RL if you know what I mean, as I have been asked to keep it quiet at work because of some disiplinary processes going on now. Summary is I work with some very horrible bullies and I couldn't be persuaded to stay as I do not see the situation improving. I'll give more details over a bottle, or two, of red wine......
I promise to give the full scoop in person; it's worth the wait...

so - when is the next meet up?
and does anyone know of a fab 2 days/wk job?

butterbeer · 16/07/2007 16:33

Paddle the "normal" side-effects after MMR are rash/fever 7-14 days afterwards and/or raised glands 21 days afterwards so not much point scheduling just before a weekend for most children as that won't be when any side-effects kick in.

(Just did DS's a couple of weeks ago -- there's been chicken pox going round at his nursery seemingly forever, and I didn't want to jab him with MMR if there was a good chance he might be about to go down with chicken pox, and also to establish that he didn't appear to be allergic to anything or have other "issues" that might affect the goodness of it as an idea.)

xoxo · 16/07/2007 16:40

Paddle: we did the combined jab - both LOs were grouchy for 2- 3 days, then absolutely fine.

Not going to get into a combined jab argument.....

am off to be yummy mummy and make play dough for the first time...am rather scared..

Kewcumber · 16/07/2007 16:47

sorry I started it , wasn't advocating single or combined jab just pointing out risks of epidemic are high in London at the moment.

eleusis · 16/07/2007 16:49

Oh oh, I want the scoop. Are you looking for another job? Packing in the whole idea of working? You can e-mail me.

Or I can provide bottles of red wine if you want to come over this evening.

Failing that, when is our next meet-up? Have we given up on Nanou? If so, is the next night out still at COV's or shall we hit the trail for restaurant?

Kewcumber · 16/07/2007 16:53

was going to ask what the is with nanou (think Foxie emailed her)

eleusis · 16/07/2007 16:58

Have sent extra stroppy e-mail (even for me). Will let you know if she responds.

xoxo · 16/07/2007 17:31

Thanks for the offer Ele but am sitting on babies tonight...but am all for a cheap evening out.....

can I suggest a pub good for food - isn't it all smoke free these days? How about an All Bar One or a curry house or something?

I'm free on Friday...

xoxo · 16/07/2007 17:32

and, yes I do still want to work: I honestly find work a big bit easier than playing with 2 active kiddies every day... and the money was nice

if anyone knows of a fab part time job pls let me know...

eleusis · 16/07/2007 17:41

You'll have to remind me what you do. I seem to remember something about surveying / housing department...

I'm busy on Friday. Going out with the school mums. And I THINK I'm off to Kaz the following week.

How about Sat Aug 4th for a cheap night out in Twickers/Richmond area? I'm happy with All Bar One or even a curry. Where is the nearest one?

xoxo · 16/07/2007 19:21

sorry - can't do saturday. dh is working that day, all day so I'll only get to see him that night... poo

Kewcumber · 16/07/2007 19:42

Eleusis could you do me a big favour if you remember. DS lost his kazakh flag at the falconry festival. Its a small handheld plastic and nylon jobbie (very tasteful ) and they probably sell them at all tat souvenir shops (and probably the airport too) for about $1. If you don't see any, don't worry.

faylisa · 16/07/2007 20:42

Hi, I'm new to this and just wondered if it was ok to join in? I live in Teddington and have a 21 month DD and 5 week DS.

Kewcumber · 16/07/2007 20:50

blimey 5 week DS and you're getting a life already?

faylisa · 16/07/2007 20:52

Well not so much a life exactly.... more a few minutes a day to go online!
