anyone fancy Hounslow Farm on Friday? Or over the weekend?

foxcub · 22/05/2007 22:22

I'd be interested opn Saturday.

Weather is supposed to be hot this week, then thunder etc Friday night - often its not as bad as forecast though

MrsRecycle · 23/05/2007 07:38

Thunder Friday night? Perfect weather for sitting in Kewcumber's garden NOT !

Eleusis · 23/05/2007 08:08

Looks like an indoor party, Kewcumber.

pudding77 · 23/05/2007 08:50

I'd be up for the farm on Saturday! PlusI will have the car so can offer a lift if anyone needs one, as long as the farm's easy to get to.

CoV, I've been reading threads about thumbsucking and children having to have major work done in their teens to correct jaws etc. Now ds is a thumbsucker & whilst I'm not too worried about it yet will it be causing any development problems with his jaw? Or is it after the milk teeth have gone?

Eleusis · 23/05/2007 08:53

Pudding,
my mum was a major thumb sucker. Her parents tried desperately to get her to stop. Years later the dentist told them that had she not sucked her thumb she would have needed braces. (of course COV will know more on the subject than I do)

Paddlechick666 · 23/05/2007 09:04

i still suck my thumb. both my brother and I had braces in our teens and our teeth are still crooked.

personally i'd not want movie star straight teeth and my thumb has been my friend in times of need!

foxcub · 23/05/2007 10:36

I wouldn't worry about thumbsucking - everything we do nowadays is supposed to be danagimng isn't it? Even crisps are supposed to give you cancer!

Weather forecast now is cloudy on saturday but no rain until Sunday (hope its sunny for the Kingston Fayre on Monday!!)

stepfordwife · 23/05/2007 10:55

hi y'all
what a glorious day!
shame i'm stuck at my desk
not around fri as working to make up for no child care in half-term and on sat going to see my friend's new flat in surbiton and, gasp, we're going to go to a bar and drink wine like normal people.
.
right, WORK (that's a 4-letter word, you know). have already had to give myself a verbal warning for spending too much time on MN

welcome lucicle

kewC... can i just say how positively youthful you look today...

Nanou1 · 23/05/2007 11:06

morning all! foxie... you're kidding right?! am going camping in hampshire this weekend. 14 adults with 10 kids i think... should be interesting!!!

foxcub · 23/05/2007 12:16

nanou - I thought part of the "fun" of camping was enjoying the elements!

pudding77 · 23/05/2007 12:26

There is no 'fun' in camping in my book! Give me a B&B any day!

Thanks for the reassurances about thumbsucking, was thinking I might have to resort to one of these , as seen on another thread

And this will be my last post until tomorrow as dh has to work tonight & needs the laptop

foxcub · 23/05/2007 12:28

Puds - Oh Lordy at that "thumb guard"!! whatever next ?

Paddlechick666 · 23/05/2007 12:28

sorry pud but that looks like an instrument of torture to me!

pudding77 · 23/05/2007 12:29

I just love the fact that they market it 'as fun to wear'! Please note I would never seriously consider buying one!

stepfordwife · 23/05/2007 12:30

wonder if they do willy guards to stop ds2's constant foraging down his pants?

Paddlechick666 · 23/05/2007 12:32

i reckon an adult size willy guard would go down a storm with the majority of posters on the Relationship board!

pudding77 · 23/05/2007 12:33

lol paddle & stepford

foxcub · 23/05/2007 13:13

I'm glad I'm not the only perv on here!

I was just thinking earlier, as I hung the washing, that I'd rather have a thumb sucker than a perpetual masturbator!!

pudding77 · 23/05/2007 13:36

yayy, dh doesn't need the laptop after all so can MN all afternoon & this evening as well!

Btw foxie, you do think odd things don't you?!

ComeOVeneer · 23/05/2007 14:13

Hi puds, in answer to your question..

In rare situations thumb sucking after infancy can lead to distortion of the jaw development which could require surgery.

More common is it caUSES THE TEETH TO COMETHROUGH CROOKED (oops) mainly the top front teeth protruding. We generally recommend attempting to cease the habit just before (or in the early stages of) eruption of the adult front teeth. I certainly wouldn't worry about it just now. Most children grow out of the habit by themselves. HTH

Ele have emailed you re cinema.

Hope everyone else is well and enjoying the sun. DS and I went to his "monkey music" class this morning then a picnic in the park with friends.

He isn't looking like napping today and is happily playing down in the playroom. It is odd, yesterday was 3 hours worth of napping yet today he seems wide awake. I guess this means we are entering a new phase. I will miss my free couple of hours when he drops his naps. However he will start nursery in Sept so then I will get a bit of time again.

mellow2 · 23/05/2007 14:18

Hello all,

Just popping in for a quick hello. It seems like a life time ago since I was on MN (all of 10 days I think!) .

How are things planned for Quokka's leaving do? Do I need to bring anything or contribute anything?

Is it still on for Friday?

It'll be great to see everyone again.

OP posts:
Kewcumber · 23/05/2007 14:19

yes foxie - why exactly were you thinking that?

foxcub · 23/05/2007 14:46

All Catholics think rude thinks don'tcha know...make you go blind anyhow

foxcub · 23/05/2007 14:46
