At suejonez's
Friday 25th May
Fajita night

Everyone to bring whatever they want to drink (so feel free to bring a soft drink if you are driving)

Lets agree a list of what we need first before allocating out:

I'm going to try to make this easy and cut down on the cooking for all

lets assume 10 people

tortillas (3 each?)
cooked beef mince
cooked chicken
grated cheese
avocado for slicing?
guacamole
sour cream
salsa
fried onions
fried peppers
kidney beans in chili sauce (could be bought)
salad

Anything else?

Pudding

uhhhh... was just kidding.

2Cute · 26/04/2007 13:03

Was wandering about mince fajitas??? Weird but hey I'm veggie so what do I care if you carnivores have mucky mince all over your laps!!

Add me on to the attendees list please. I'll make strips of garlic mushrooms for the veggies as a meat substitute and anyone else who might fancy it. Foxi - do you like garlic?

Can I second Foxi on keeping the beans separate please so we can pinch some???

tortillas (2 each? say 20) - quokka
kit with taco shells - suejonez
cooked beef mince - pudding
cooked chicken - MrsRecycle
grated cheese - quokka
avocado for slicing - Foxcub
guacamole - Paddle
sour cream - quokka
salsa - paddle
fried onions - suejonez
fried peppers - suejonez
kidney beans in chili sauce (could be bought) - puds could chuck these into the beef?
salad - pudding
rather lovely home-made balsamic salad dressing - paddle
Nachos - MrsRecycle
Garlic mushrooms - 2Cute

Pudding - COV (one chocolate and one.... any requests?)

quokka · 26/04/2007 13:07

you make me laugh ele .

Sounds like this is going to be a feast! Maybe the beef mince could be used in the nachos?

suejonez · 26/04/2007 13:08

oh shut up the lot of you about the mince [sticky out tongue emoticon]. They're for the burritto's of course, chicken is for the fajita and I've never seen a muchroom in a Mexican fajita if we're going for authenticity

OP posts:
suejonez · 26/04/2007 13:09

yes Ele but I can;t see it from Liverpool Street... (the fridge that is)

Eleusis · 26/04/2007 13:10

Do you veggies eat seafood? Grilled prawns are lovely in fajitas. I could bring them. (if Quokka is going to be nice to me)

suejonez · 26/04/2007 13:16

oh I see - so mince is not authentic but prawns are

OP posts:
quokka · 26/04/2007 13:17

pmsl sue, can't you get a neighbour to go and look?!

suejonez · 26/04/2007 13:18

hee hee can you imagine the conversation when I ring them...

stepfordwife · 26/04/2007 13:18

what shall i bring? (aprt from a good attitude and dancing shoes..)

dh makes a mean guacamole..shit, shouldn't have said, that. now i can't pretend i did it. to me, a kitchen is but a place that houses a fridge which houses my wine

Eleusis · 26/04/2007 13:23

Actually Sue, prawns are quite authentic. Mexico has a big coastline you know? And you do fine a fair amount of seafood in mexican dishes.

suejonez · 26/04/2007 13:25

My main source of info on Mexico is restaurants and they don't serve prawn fajitas in "Down Mexico Way" so I don't beleive you. (Believe that it has a coastline though )

Paddlechick666 · 26/04/2007 13:27

mince will go great in the Taco Shells - yum yum.

I very nearly rang home earlier to get mother to check if we had triple sec in the drinks cupboard!

prawns would be fab - bet the veggies who do eat 'em won't get a look in LOL.

keep the bean out the back door AFAIC!

Eleusis · 26/04/2007 13:28

My main source of information on Mexcan cuisine comes from trips to Mexico an living in Texas for 10 years.

Paddlechick666 · 26/04/2007 13:33

ah but Tex-Mex ain't authentic Mexican tho is it?

I spent 9 months in Mexico, Central and South America and basically found that anything edible is authentic.....

That includes guinea pig altho that's a bit further south.

MrsRecycle · 26/04/2007 13:35

Did someone say Margaritas? Oh damn why do I have to be driving? Well I do have a wedding the next day so probably not the best idea to drink anyway. I can always be the "Shot" girl and sling the Tequila over my chest.

Please don't go buying the Tequila anyone as we have loads of bottles of the stuff. dh's mum always seems to buy him a bottle when they go away and he doesn't drink the stuff. I'll gladly let you lot have it, just to clear some space in my drinks cabinet for some more wine.

suejonez · 26/04/2007 13:35

I spent 3hrs in Break for the Border in Soho and I tell you THEY DON'T SERVE PRAWN FAJITAS

OP posts:
suejonez · 26/04/2007 13:35

I won the frozen margarita drinking race though so it is a bit hazy (man, it hurts your lips)

OP posts:
MrsRecycle · 26/04/2007 13:35

Oh ele - we have 2 guniea pigs we could bring along

Eleusis · 26/04/2007 13:36

Ah, but Paddle, did you have the monkey brain soup in Oaxaca? (yuk!)

suejonez · 26/04/2007 13:36

MrsR I'm not much of a drinker these days (drank my share, it's someone else's turn!) so you won;t be Naomi No-mates

OP posts:
Paddlechick666 · 26/04/2007 13:50

ele, no i had some rather nice heinz tinned spagetti in Oaxaca. so nice, in fact, that i ordered a 2nd bowl.

budget was very very low at this point LOL!

the best food I had was in San Cristobel street market. Tostadas topped with all sorts of yummy things for 1 peso a pop.

2Cute · 26/04/2007 13:51

Oi Jonez! I'll have you know that mushrooms taste fantastic in tortilas and Mexican restuarants often offer that as a meat substitute so there!!!

Eleusis · 26/04/2007 14:00

Does anyone want the shrimp/prawns?

Paddlechick666 · 26/04/2007 14:02

yes please
