Hi,

Got this started 'cos I think the other thread is going to run out before the end of tomorrow.

OP posts:
foxcub · 24/03/2007 12:56

Quokka - did you ever use Arnica tablets? - they're apparently good for nips as well as stitches and am thinking of trying them...

quokka · 24/03/2007 13:04

they are amazing you must take them! I have a bottle here if you want?

foxcub · 24/03/2007 13:26

Quokka - I'll try and get some in Olivers health food shop today - if not - may come a begging. Thanx xx

nopudstilleaster · 24/03/2007 13:42

Foxie - arnica tablets are fantastic, I used them and they really helped!

Thank god my parents are here this weekend, feeling awful again, dh is out on a stag do today & ds has decided its lots of fun to wake up at 5.30am every day!

Quokka - does the aromatherapy oil you use help them sleep better? Thinking of giving it a try as I can't keep sedating him .

quokka · 24/03/2007 14:05

I think aromotherapy works well, but you do need to know how to rub it in correctly or use it in the bath. I do remember ds1 going through a stage of waking early and I just left him and eventually he would go back to sleep, or is he waking during the night as well?

nopudstilleaster · 24/03/2007 14:08

He's been quite restless through the night as well, lots of murmuring, I don't know if he's just adjusting to a new routine or teething but when he wakes up he's not going back whether I leave him or put his music on.

quokka · 24/03/2007 14:28

might just be routine change - hasn't he just started nursery?

Anyway I would reccomend aromotherapy, I get told off my ds1 if I haven't rubbed his belly and ds2 always wants the oil bottle so this makes me think that they like it and my nights are trouble free. I can always show you how to massage it in if you like?

nopudstilleaster · 24/03/2007 14:32

That would be great if you don't mind, I'll email you.

sfxmum · 24/03/2007 15:58

hi all

just back from pampering at hairdressers and lunch with dh&dd shame about the cold weather.

foxie - most def cabbage and blessed arnica, worked for me. have been reading my diary for the last days of pregnancy and early motherhood, bloody ouch, why do i want to do it againhow quickly we forget.

puds hope you feel better soon and ds manages later wake up the pesky little alarm clock.

xoxo - i hope it works out i still feel it is worth waiting for the place, but it is a complete scandalwhat do they think they could do with the kids anyway? incompetent idiots

paddle dd showed your&your dd pic to the waitress at the restaurant today, she was well impressed

nopudstilleaster · 24/03/2007 17:07

sounds like you've had a lovely day sfx!

foxcub · 24/03/2007 18:20

Got the Arnica tablets

sfx - you should read me your diary, as I am in that "bloody ouch!" place atm!

Paddle - saw you and DD looking fab in Prima Baby

You and Sue are both media stars now then?

Paddlechick666 · 24/03/2007 19:21

evening all

foxie, good on the arnica tablets. can't imagine why i didn't think about that. they're fabulous and i'm sure will really help.

sfx, sounds a lovely day.

i went to kew with one of my iVillage AP mums and altho it was freezing we had a lovely day. dd now fast asleep and was off by 7pm!

am about to settle down and watch Bridges of Maddison County on Film4 - what a saddo LOL!

glad everyone likes the PB article, i think it's fab and very well written.

pud, hope you're on the mend soon and ds sorts himself out on the sleep front.

am wondering what dd will do with the clock change tomorrow. will she wake an hour later or an hour earlier?

i guess i'll find out!

suejonez · 24/03/2007 19:29

Paddle the question will be - will she go to bed tomorrow on time or (as I suspect) be up the extra hour?

Will you keep a copy of the article so I can read it (pretty please). I was also in Kew this arfo at about 1-4 with a single friend as I was trying to think of somewhere we could eat where DS could roam that she wouldn;t be overwhelmed by children (ie no climbers and creepers!)

nopudstilleaster · 24/03/2007 19:44

Do the clocks go forward tomorrow? Missed that . Won't make much difference to me atm but wonder if this is why ds has been waking up so early, maybe he's just adjusting in advance?

decafskinnylatte · 24/03/2007 22:07

Evening! Hope you're all having a good w/end.

xoxo - You have inspired me. I will also be kicking up a stink. I am still bl**dy furious and will be until I've done something about it.

Will def. follow all the courses of action that you've listed (as well as speaking to our local priest - more so that he is fully aware of the situation than to blame him (tho' he must have written a LOT of references this year!)) but still unsure about whether or not to appeal.

We have always had a private place as back up which we can just about afford. I would feel uncomfortable now taking a place (IF appeal was successful), knowing that so many others might need it more than we do - like it's my problem ffs!! Surely my ds is as deserving of a decent state provided education as anyone else?

Sorry all - probably not the time nor the place! Rant over!

xoxo - re your earlier question: Answer: I am never drinking EVER again! (ask me again next week )

Feels a bit voyeur-ish reading all of your news when I've never met any of you. Hope you don't mind me hanging around. Look forward into bumping into some of you on a daytime meet up soon.

foxcub · 25/03/2007 13:29

Hi Decaf - you're very welcome, don't feel furtive!!

Its good to have you on board. have you applied to a CoE or Catholic school then? My DCs are at a Catholic one. DS1 was born in 2000, so there was a glut of babies in that year too, but cam't believe LBRUT didn't foresee 230 extra applications this year!!

Well we went to church this morning, the first time in 5 weeks for me - oyr priest wasn't even there today though!!!

I'm going a bit stir crazy now - my life feels like I'm just lurching clumsily from one feed to another LOL! Monti is sooo cutey thoygh

SFX - just bumpde into your DD and Dh in M&S in the retail park. She looks like her dad doesn't she?

Can't belive I went all the way to M%S to purchase some of their Custratd Tarts and they didn't have any!! There seems to be a national shortage . DH just aboyt to go to Richmond to seek some out for me (along with some Dr Who cards for DS1)

Paddle - glad you had a nice time yesterday - my Mum never came over in the end as she decided I was too poorly to run round. Hope she manages to get over while Monti is still a "newborn"

suejonez · 25/03/2007 15:06

Hi Foxie - I will keep an eye out for the elusive custard tarts.

Voyeurs are welcome, I think we have every other kind of vice represented

have just been for lunch at The Longford in Hampton - very nice food and they were lovely with DS - made him pasta with fresh tomato sauce (they don't seem to serve the childrnes menu on a sunday) and dug a balloon out of the store cupboard and didn;t seem to mind him crawling all over. He was a great hit with a big group eating, they all seems to be late teens early twenties and the girls were all cooing over him - even the pboys seemed impressed with his commando crawl.

Highly recommend it to those of you over hampton way

foxcub · 25/03/2007 15:09

Dh just left to source tarts (in a manner of speaking).

Am already visualising that first bite!

That sounds like a nice lunch Sue very civilised

foxinsocks · 25/03/2007 19:48

Wondered if any of you would like a Black and Decker toddler's workbench ?

It's a few years old and we don't have all the bits - we've got the screwdriver, saw, spanner and chainsaw (all in working order, they're all plastic so not dangerous ) and a sort of battery driven interchangeable work tool that is a screw driver/saw plus some screws and bits to screw into the workbench.

I don't want anything for it.

sfxmum · 25/03/2007 19:57

hi all

Sue - it is good to know we seem limited to starbucks, giraffe and a couple more which tolerate children

foxie - isn't she just good thing i like him. she told me all about it but i gather she was quite shy in the shop.

there are some delicious Portuguese custard tarts best had fresh from patisserie lisbon, to die for almost literally.

i feel like i had a productive day today, went jogging in the morning then to my sisters for her birthday while husband stayed home tidying up.

sfxmum · 25/03/2007 19:58

and big wave to newbies

foxcub · 25/03/2007 20:16

Sounds like a nice day sfx. Where to buty portugese tarts from then. (Where is Patiss' Lisbon?)

xoxo · 25/03/2007 20:20

DEcafskinny - suggest you contact Cllr Eady. Chief prat. Did not know about shortage until 'last week'. Sad as we all sent in our forms in November! And Vincent Cable was publically complaining about lack of primary schools in May 2004.

Paddle: I have not seen the article so pls keep it for me.

sfxmum · 25/03/2007 20:23

foxie - portobello rd and a few places around Stockwell too i know Nando's do something with that name but they are south african fakes

sfxmum · 25/03/2007 20:27
