hi 2cute, I start tomorrow so looking forward to that! So far ds has been fine, just had a bit of a moan when I came back!

oxo, fingers crossed for the appeal though I guess you won't hear for a while?

nopudstilleaster · 22/03/2007 19:29

oh, and hi decafskinnylatte

2Cute · 22/03/2007 19:42

xoxo - Was having a chat to my dad about how bad this whole trying to get kids into good schools has become and what's happened with you. He was so angry over the whole thing anyone would've thought it was him going through it! It is becoming really over populated here and my aunt who moved to the US 10 yrs ago is here on holidays at the moment and boy was she majorly shocked seeing how much things have changed.

xoxo · 22/03/2007 20:45

Hi.
we are appealling the decision and causing as much stink as poss. If anyone has any media connections I'd love to be introduced to them.

foxcub · 22/03/2007 21:13

MrsR - your hubbie had the snip then? I must have missed that earlier...

trying2bgood · 22/03/2007 23:03

2 cute - I think a major problem is town planning. Do they even do that anymore? They build high density housing and then do not invest in local services.

Eleusis · 23/03/2007 08:20

I would be interested to know the statistics in RuT. How many children got their first choice of schools?

Oxo, what is your plan B -- if the appeal doesn't succeed?

And I wonder how often the apeals are successful?

Fingers crossed for you Oxo. By when do they have to respond to the appeal?

suejonez · 23/03/2007 08:47

I'm doing dull stuff this morning - Tesco, parking ermit etc but am free for coffee at some point today if anyones around.

Eleusis - how was birthday cake (wasn;t it yesterday?)

Eleusis · 23/03/2007 08:58

Paddlechick666 · 23/03/2007 14:43

afternoon all

thanks for all the advice and perspectives on the house buying front.

will keep it all in mind!

MrsR, sorry to hear about your sister. Not sure I'm up to sharing a house with anyone but dd these days tho. Would your bro be interested in a 40yr old hag with a toddler LOL

Ele, hope the party and cake go well tomorrow.

SJ, sexy car mate!

Foxie, keep on keeping on, you're doing a fabulous job.

Pud, hope you're feeling better soon too. I've got a sinus infection now which is a delight!

Welcome to any newbies - sorry I've forgotten your names. T'is all a bit busy in PaddleLand right now.

Oh and if you've got this far, me and dd are in Prima Baby April issue out now. Pages 101 and 102 - fame at last!

Oh and Sue, you can kill 2 birds with one stone as the mag is doing a feature on the safest car seats for babies and toddlers this issue.

Hi to everyone I've forgotten - hope you're all well.

Paddlechick666 · 23/03/2007 14:48

oops, cross posted Sue!

if you got the one we were looking at (Britax Duo Plus Isofix) it got a 4 * rating and it's retailing at £169.99.

my maxi-cosi tobi got 5* best buy and is retailing at £164.99 so only £5 cheaper - however I got it for a sight less than that at Halfords.

;-)

xoxo · 24/03/2007 10:16

Hello - advice pls. I've put in our 2 appeals (against the two schools rejection). I have also written to

  • local school govnr & head mistreess begging them to do bulge class,
  • cllr responsible for schools (the dickhead who was 'suprised' at 230 extra children) - feel a bit bad as they have been in only 1 yr so clearly have inherited this problem , but they should have tackled schools before sending out letters saying there are no places!
  • cllr in charge of overview and scrutiny of education committee
  • my ward cllr
  • MP
  • local newspapers (see richmond & twick times on line for DH's tuppanceworth!) Is there anyone else I should contact?
foxcub · 24/03/2007 11:02

Oxo
If it was our school, I'd suggest the Pope!

Seriously - can't think of anyone. You seem to have all bases covered.

Hi everyone else

Shouts: "will my nipples ever stop hurting?" !!!

arrrgghh

quokka · 24/03/2007 11:04

foxy have you tried savoy cabbage?

foxcub · 24/03/2007 11:27

Is that good for the pain? I thought it was good for engorged boobies....

I was thinking more of hard drugs TBH....

quokka · 24/03/2007 11:29

well they soothed my boobs. I loved putting cold leaves in my bra and apparently theres something in the cabbage which helps with the pain?? Its worth a try
