Had to create a new thread as we've already filled the old one!

2cute, I would love to meet up with you and your ds but I have my NCT coffee this afternoon and once ds has woken up from his nap, I have to go sort out my MIL's bday present.

Are you free next week at all?

Oh yes Sue. They always do that when the mum returns to work. Just to keep you on your toes and make sure you suffer when you are not there.

My tip for next time (if you are interested) is to go with nurofen at night time because it lasts longer than paracetemol.

Poor little D. Hope he is better soon!

suejonez · 05/03/2007 11:28

I'll buy some nurofen next time. (for me as well as him)

foxabout2pop · 05/03/2007 11:38

Hi just a quick check in as I'm suffereing from sleep deprivation too.

Sue - in 2.5 years, CM never took a sickie so she must be really ill to take a day off. I know there is a vomiting bug going round the school though (DD has had it over the weekend) so maybe she's caught it from the kids

Paddle - glad your enjoying having your friend there and the DD's are getting on well.

Am of you all who got to the party it sound as though it was great

I cancelled my induction this morning at QC but rang the Birth Centre - spoke with a northern Irish male midwife, who was soooo lovely. They told me to call back at 2pm and they may be able to see me this arvo and measure my cervix's progress (or lack of). Maybe also give me a sweep, which could jog things along a bit. Still having sporadic contractions all the time.

The Birth Centre midwives are sooo fantastic and the consultants at QC soo patronising

Eleusis · 05/03/2007 12:12

Interesting...

"The Birth Centre midwives are sooo fantastic and the consultants at QC soo patronising"

I would give them precisely the opposite review. I think it depends on what kind of birth you want. In fact,I think that's one of the great things about QC: they can cater to the whole range.

Let us know if you like the monkey bars as well as Quokka did?

suejonez · 05/03/2007 12:12

Foxie - I guessed that she was pretty ill, she doesn't seem the type to cry off for little reason.

Good luck for this arfo.

vivat · 05/03/2007 13:18

Foxabouttopop - haven't read thread, but was the midwife you spoke to called Willie? If so, he delivered my dd nearly three years ago at the birth centre at QC, he was absolutely amazing, made me feel very much in control which was very empowering. I think the midwives at the birth centre are very different to the other ones i've met at QC..... Good luck !

suejonez · 05/03/2007 14:50

oooh I'm famous!

nopudstilleaster · 05/03/2007 14:56

Is that the article the photographer was coming for Sue?

quokka · 05/03/2007 15:10

Sj I might have to collect my Teletubbies dvd both lo's are getting bored of the one I have - not that they watch telly alot . I told you you were famous and you didn't believe me .

Foxy sounds like a good idea to see the midwifes at the birthing centre and having a sweep - it usually does the trick. Btw ele they were not monkey bars, but a hammock that was hanging from the ceiling.

sfxmum · 05/03/2007 15:37

sue - the article sounds ok hope you are pleased with it

foxie - hope a sweep works, it generally does

both dd&I are a bit under the weather, still can't quite manage to shove some medicine down her throat, we did boogie tots and finger painting but now CBeebies to the rescue not much else i can do this afternoon my head hurts

2Cute that choc shortbread tasted homemade did you make it? yum

Paddlechick666 · 05/03/2007 15:43

famous and a city high flyer!

get you!!!

suejonez · 05/03/2007 15:46

anyone with a job is considered to be a high-flier in Llanelli!

Quokka - I'm sorting out videos shortly so will try to bring them to Thursday night for distribution.

suejonez · 05/03/2007 15:46

sfx - yes I htought it was a much better article than the original - sounded much more like me..

Paddlechick666 · 05/03/2007 15:48

where's the picture?

foxabout2pop · 05/03/2007 17:17

Sue - anyone with a job...!! You are definately famous - have you any old friends still there who will read about you?

Vivat - not sure if it was Willie - he was lovely though. Was unsure about male midwives but he made me feel a lot more confident about the whole process and birth

Ele- I've never used QC before so we can compare notes afterwards.

I'm going in tonight abourt 8pm as they said that the hormones are highest at nightime and so the sweep is more likely to work with nature at night than in the day

Hope they don't just send me home with mt tail between my legs..rather than a baby

Eleusis · 05/03/2007 17:27

Good luck tonight, foxie!!! I'm sure you will have a great experience. It seems everyon elike QC, whether they want the all natural approach or medicalised approach. You're in good hands.

Ok, Quokka, "monkey hammock" then.

Paddlechick666 · 05/03/2007 18:31

oooh good luck for tonight Foxie!

sue, sfx, kew tomorrow morning?

9pm tonight - 5life TV channel - interesting program............ Who Are You To Tell Us

sfxmum · 05/03/2007 18:37

foxie good luck

paddle - thats the plan unless it pours

stepfordwife · 05/03/2007 18:52

ooohh..good luck, foxie. (if i haven't missed you) the birh centre is fab.

xoxo · 05/03/2007 18:56

HI guys: Foxy , isn't hot sex supposed to help???

2cute - FAB party - our two ran about like demons afterwards, then crashed (god bless sugar highs) so dh and I had a fab, quiet night!! Thanks so much for the fab party, and the kid free night . Lovely to see everyone else there too. Got told off by all for not playing so much these days so will make big effort to do so properly (excuses such as start work, fractured skull etc count for nothing - you guys are TOUGH!)

it's so lovely to see all the kids playing together and chatting to each other (or in Quokka kids' case, eating ) - that's when I realise that we've made little PEOPLE, not just the disparate pieces and endless mass of noses, bums, sore tummies and snot that I think they are. It's a bit scarey and reminds me that I should take this a bit more seriously than I do (oxo dusts off leaflets for science museum...).

off to put the little sods to bed now

nopudstilleaster · 05/03/2007 19:06

just a quick one - anyone around tomorrow for a meet up? Ds seems to be better & hasn't thrown up today. I really need to get both of us out of the house so just wondered if anyone wanted to meet up for a walk or something.

Foxie, fingers crossed for tonight!

ComeOVeneer · 05/03/2007 19:12

Hi all. It is a good job we didn't come to the party yesterday as we definately have a bug. DD was fine by the time she went to bed, but I woke at midnight needing to be sick, whilst doing so ds threw up all over his cot, and dh joined in a couple of hours later. So you can imagine what the night and today held for us.

sfxmum · 05/03/2007 19:22

puds paddle and friend plus maybe sue and myself with respective children will be heading to kew tomorrow morning

nopudstilleaster · 05/03/2007 20:04

Would it be ok if I tagged along? Though I should warn you all that ds has recently been in contact with chicken pox, though as far as I can gather he won't be infectious yet. But if any of you would rather not take the chance then that's fine.

suejonez · 05/03/2007 20:38

Didn;t get to my mums until 6.45 by which time my mum had bathed him I'm going to have to tell her not to as I'd rather put him to bed a little later and bath him myself but decided that the day she bailed me out wasn;t the time to bring it up. I think she found a full day exhausting!

He has soundly punished me though by not going to sleep like the little angel he normally is. Had to put in my bed and lie down with him and he still didn't sleep until 8pm. Think I am going to have to negotiate and earlier finish time.

Didn't find the morning bad but on the way home the journey felt like it just took forever.

2cute - do you have a gazillion photos of DS as I have quite a nice one of him from the party just on his own on a car (what else!). Quokka and Paddle also have one or two or yours so will email them over.
