Had to create a new thread as we've already filled the old one!

2cute, I would love to meet up with you and your ds but I have my NCT coffee this afternoon and once ds has woken up from his nap, I have to go sort out my MIL's bday present.

Are you free next week at all?

OP posts:
nopudstilleaster · 04/03/2007 08:22

ooh its all exciting now, fingers crossed it happens today foxie!

2cute - I doubt we'll be making the party either, ds seemed to be getting better yesterday but he's thrown up again today (twice already!) and I don't think he'll be up for it (and also don't want to pass it around of course!). I'm really sorry - hopefully we'll see you soon and I can give your ds his present then. Hope he has a good time.

stepfordwife · 04/03/2007 08:44

foxie..sounds like today could be THE day! You're going to meet monti. (who'll be pisces, i've just realised. such a lovely caring, sensitive star sign....)
try and get the room with the giant bean bag, sensory lighting AND glitter ball. sending you positive thoughts and pushing vibes...

sfxmum · 04/03/2007 08:50

oh foxie labouroh go on then]grin]go on go on go on

COV - bless the in laws why are they not mute

puds sorry about your ds and foxie's dd too perhaps party food is not the best thing for tender tummies.

so far we only have a cold and mild at that

trying2bgood · 04/03/2007 09:48

fox - good luck! Can't believe it is actually happening!

today am having dd1's birthday party for the 'family' ie in-laws. Should be fun then .

2cute - hope your party goes well.

stepfordwife · 04/03/2007 10:08

..oh and my sympathies with all of you on sick duty...being covered in vomit/cleaning up vomit/trying not to vomit yourself really is one of the lowlights of parenting, eh?

MrsBigD · 04/03/2007 12:03

Good luck Foxie!!!

Here so far everybody is relativly healthy.

foxabout2pop · 04/03/2007 12:26

errr - actually I'm not in labour - contractions have bloody well stopped again. That did mean I had a nap this morning after being up since 3am, and its only noon, so am just heating up some samosas, which I'll follow with some pineapples (not rings )...

dum, de dum, de dum [drums fingers]

Think I'll go walk up and down the stairs again!

DD is asleep so don't think she's up to going to the party this arvo

Stepford, did you get your work finished off yesterday?

Oh Lordy - any ideas anyone?

ComeOVeneer · 04/03/2007 15:01

Well the bug is still with us I'm afraid so we will bow out of this afternoons festivities. Hope the party goes well 2cute.

stepfordwife · 04/03/2007 17:32

foxie...sorry, you're going to have to have sex...pineapple ring optional

no, i didn't get my work finished. have just got back from a friend's 40th birthday lunch and will have to crack on...if my chocolate cake-laden stomach can take it.

sfxmum · 04/03/2007 18:31

hey foxie how is it going?

2Cute we had a wonderful time, it was a lovely party with the added bonus that dd is super tired now
nice to see everyone too

i hope the poorly little ones are feeling better

suejonez · 04/03/2007 19:11

yes thank you 2cute - D and I had a lovely time. It was his first party and I think I was more excited than he was! Only problem is that he was too tired to drink all his milk so will no doubt wake up for it at some point...

suejonez · 04/03/2007 19:12

Foxie I'm working tomorrow but around Tuesday if you need me.

foxabout2pop · 04/03/2007 20:10

Hi everyone - hope the party went well 2cute

DD slept all arvo and seems a bit better now - she's just finished a bland supper, so hopefully won't vomit it up...

No bloody contractions to speak of all day

Stepford - did you say your 2nd labour was like this? What happened or did it just get going eventually on its own? DS1 did this too - on/off contractions for several days before it kicked off.

I've got an appointment for induction tomorrow but don't want to be induced as that would mean a clinical birth and I want a natural birth, with disco balls, bean bags and a pool.....

Anyone got any labour inducing secrets they want to share (that don't involved pineapple rings )

stepfordwife · 04/03/2007 20:21

yes, foxie, ds2 was an on/off labour. went on (and off) for about 5 days i'm afraid. finally kicked off naturally (5 days overdue). doesn't mean that'll happen to you, though..
you don't have to be induced if you don't want to. as long as monti's doing ok - and they'll want you to come in to be monitered - think you could hang out for 10-14 days "overdue." anyhow, you're pretty sure yopur dates are right, not theirs, aren't you? easier said than done, i know, but the best thing you can do is try to "forget" about it (ha!) and relax. not that i did that, of course. i just got mardy. glitter ball cheered me up, though..

foxabout2pop · 04/03/2007 20:25

Thanx Steppy - mardy is me atm!!

DS1 did this for 5 days too - must be a boy thing, eh?

As long as I can sleep at night though, the world looks OK to me

bunyanvillas · 04/03/2007 21:01

Hi Foxie, hope you are bearing up! My first (and only, so far) labour seemed similar to yours - I had a few days of on/off contractions - at one point they were coming so fast I was convinced dd's arrival was imminent ... and then they slowed right down! My only tip (and this worked for me) is to head out to a nice pub for a G&T followed by a nice meal (plus pudding). This really seemed to bring things on. I went to the Greyhound Pub in Kew as my Mum was over from Northern Ireland and I didn't want to let her down by staying in! When we got home I had a lemon & ginger tea and a biscuit, and DD was born about 12 hours later. And thank god I had so much to eat as the food at West Mid was seriously unimpressive Am keeping everything crossed (or perhaps not!) for you tonight.

sfxmum · 04/03/2007 21:29

forgot to add

foxie still taking mobile to bed should you need it don't hesitate

sue - best wishes for the return to work and again thanks for today

2Cute · 04/03/2007 23:15

Just a quick note to say thanks for coming today and for the wonderful pressies. Straight after the party we unpacked the van of toys in the POURING rain and headed to my parents house for DS's family party. He was so excited about everything that getting him down for the night was almost impossible. God knows how he's going to get up for nursery in the morning, or me for that matter, I'm shattered!!

Paddle - In the rush I forgot to give your DD's party bag My cousin thought she was really cute BTW

Sue - D won some hearts today I tell you, especially as he was scoffing those raisins down!

Foxi - Poor DD Hope everything's happening according to plan now. Don't forget, we're here to help (God, I sound like the Koala Brothers!)

Hope poorly LOs are on the mend.

Off to crash now.....

Eleusis · 05/03/2007 06:14

Happt Labour Day, Foxie.

foxabout2pop · 05/03/2007 06:41

Hi all - still here I'm afraid

2cute - glad your DS had a fabulous party yesterday when I'm back in circulation we'll get his pressie to him.

Ele - thanx for your text, just found it

sfx - thanx for "being there"

I've had about 4 hours sleep after false labour contractions again all night and have tried every trick in the book now: endless curries, about 10 pineapples in the last five days, sex, walking, climbing up and down stairs, dancing, nipp stim, clary sage baths, the list goes on...

I will concel my induction today and see if they can just monitor Monti instead, though he's moving fine and seems quite happy in there in the warm...

Sue - enjoy your first day back, you'll miss DS like hell but at the same time I bet you'll enjoy being back at work too. Just think, you can make lists and actually achieve what's on them, play on the computer, talk to adults, have endless coffees and go to the loo alone!

nopudstilleaster · 05/03/2007 08:23

morning all

foxie - ds was like this as well, it took about five days in total before everything really got going. I seem to remember nothing worked for me either. Sorry, that really doesn't help does it!

I must get out of the house today - ds & I haven't been outside in 2 days .

sfxmum · 05/03/2007 09:02

morning all

dd seems to be expecting another birthday party todayshe is going around humming 'happy birthday to you'

will drag self to boogie tots today but not good for much else

Paddlechick666 · 05/03/2007 09:32

morning everyone!

haven't read all the recent posts - can't keep up!

been dipping in and out to check Foxie's progress tho

2cute, your ds's birthday party was fantastic. thanks so much for inviting us and the Swedish contingent.

dd had a total ball and everyone helped keep an eye on her as i flitted between her and my friend!

the food you laid on was delicious. dd enjoyed her first samosa - she defended her food well when Sue's ds tried to grab it LOL. very funny seeing Quokka's ds2, Sue's ds and my dd virtually first at the table and definately last to leave LOL.

sorry we sneaked off before the cake but friend's dd was really tired out and i was a bit anxious for her not to get too upset.

lovely to see everyone else too.

Foxie, hope there's more movement for you today.

suejonez · 05/03/2007 10:25

2Cute we had a really lovely time - just wanted to say that again because we did. D tucked into those raisins with embarassing gusto! He does love a good party, can you have another one in April? Thought your DS was indeed 2cute, I can imagne that he was too revved up to sleep.

Had a difficult start to work.

DS woke at 10pm with a temperature, stripped him off, sponged him down and gave calpol, he seemed to go back to sleep after a while but of course I was worried and kept waking up. CM's huband rang at 7am to say she had stomach bug and couldn't work thankfully my lovely mum came up trumps and has him. He seems to be feeling better this morning but I suspect he has a cold, he has been sneezing for several days but nothing much else.

So I'm in work with a lack of sleep induced headache!

Paddlechick666 · 05/03/2007 10:44

passes paracetemol to Sue.

dd had dreadful night saturday night thus leaving me utterly exhausted yesterday.

last night she took 1 hour and 10 minutes to go to sleep and i really did come face to face with the urge to run screaming around the house like a headless chicken!

totally empathise with you Sue. she woke at 2am and i gave a large dose of medised which took about 30mins to work.

it's fab having my friend and her daughter here, i'm really enjoying it, but it's exhausting and quite stressful too.

luckily friend's dd seems to sleep thru just about anything so neither girls are disturbing each other - except at bedtime when dd really needs dark and quiet room to drop off.

more coffee for us both eh!

hope everyone else's dc are on the mend, terrified dd will get it and give to the baby we have staying!
