Had to create a new thread as we've already filled the old one!

2cute, I would love to meet up with you and your ds but I have my NCT coffee this afternoon and once ds has woken up from his nap, I have to go sort out my MIL's bday present.

Are you free next week at all?

Morning all

How about CPC thurs morning? I'd probably be there for about 10-10.30.

Foxie, can you email or text me your address? Just in case!

Paddle - hope things went well last night

quokka · 28/02/2007 08:50

Foxy I am not all bothered if you call me, and it would only take 15 min to there. When my boys are grown up I might become a doula, so will be called out at all hours! just realx for buba and enjoy your last days of freedom

Not sure about you PC but we were all so knackered after cpc, sj your ds will love it!

suejonez · 28/02/2007 09:12

CPC sounds great on Thursday 10am.

Who's coming?

SJ
2Cute
Cov
Pudding

Any other takers?

Think I am going to try Mothercare cafe this morning to see if its any good (mad fool)!

Foxie - want to meet there? Or shall I pop over for a cup of tea or would you raher come to me.... or ... so many choices...

Paddlechick666 · 28/02/2007 09:35

morning all

lovely evening thank you all. very normal which was actually the nicest part of it.

think he's coming over saturday as well after the stadium tour i got him for his birthday......

Foxie, my phone is coming to bed with me tonight as it's the only overnight I can do. Please don't tie yourself in knots over this. Just get that list and start calling the minute things start to happen. Mumsnetters can hold the fort till your sister arrives if that works.

Quokka, cpc wore me out too. DD was asleep moments after we waved goodbye to you guys.

Ele, hope ds is feeling better soon.

Wish I could come out to play tomorrow but seriously need to do some work!

trying2bgood · 28/02/2007 09:35

Fox - yes am braving another holiday with them in April....will let you know how it goes.

Quokka - think you would make a great Doula. Saw a programme about a doula once and think they can be a very positive force.

Are you talking about this thursday for cpc? I can't do it but would probably be able to make next thursday!!!

MrsRecycle · 28/02/2007 09:35

Quick update - my dearest, dearest, dearest (okay you get the picture!) friend looked after ds last night until midnight and he only woke up once in the night . So I had a wonderful night and feel ready to take on the world. Well, that'll be until ds starts screaming when they try and take some blood out of him later on this morning. Thanks Quokka for your very kind offer and for listening.

Ele - I'd gladly go back to work if I could guarantee that I wasn't a walking zombie. You wanna swap??? Sorry to hear about ds - hope he is feeling better soon.

MrsRecycle · 28/02/2007 09:36

pc - cross posting - so very very very happy that last night went well. Fingers crossed for some normality back in your life.

ComeOVeneer · 28/02/2007 09:37

What and where is CPC? Is it suitable for my rather boistreous (sp) 2 year old ds who doesn't stay in one place for a momnt, and would it allow me 5 mins to sit down with a coffee, or will I be chasing him all over the place?

Eleusis, sorry to here ds is under the weather, hopefully it is short lived. Enjoy the housework . Actually ditch it and spend the day on here.

Paddlechick666 · 28/02/2007 09:40

thanks MrsR, really glad to hear you got some respite too.

it's such a nice feeling when you've had some sleep - all of a sudden you're able to think again LOL.

actually I'm exhausted today altho we all slept well. i forget having an extra body around creates that bit more work.

to be fair tho, dh did get dd up and dressed.

quokka, talked thru your Sunday night theory with dh and he found it interesting. we're going to try a Sunday night here soon and see if it helps. btw, you'd make a great doula imo.

trying2bgood · 28/02/2007 09:42

Cov - CPC is the Childs play cafe which is based in Chiswick, I think at the bottom of Dukes avenue or possibly Dukes road. Inside is a cafe area and a hall and two other play areas as well as an outside area.

Paddlechick666 · 28/02/2007 09:45

CoV, Childsplay Cafe in Chiswick. It's brilliant and perfect for a boisterous 2 year old.

can't promise you can sit down with a coffee tho!

there's about 4 rooms including a huge hall with ride ons etc. and an outdoor area too.

it's £3.50 for each child and the cafe does nice coffee and cake and other food.

there's a big corridor down the middle so if you can persuade ds to get in a car and go up the corridor, down the hall and up the corridor again for a while you might get to sit down with a coffee!

top tip from Quokka, park in Chiswick House grounds which is west bound on the A4 between Hogarth R/bout and Chiswick R/bout.

Use the subway just outside the carpark to cross the road. When you come up from the subway turn back on yourself and walk thru Devonshire Passage and you come out just by the Youth Centre where the CPC is.

I promise if you don't get to sit down while you're there, you will later when your ds flakes out thru play induced exhaustion!

ComeOVeneer · 28/02/2007 09:52

Thanks paddle and t2bg, sounds good. The car thing is quite likely, ds got a little tikes car for his birthday and lives in it. We had thought about getting one of those clip on trays like 1950's dinner style (you know with the girls on rollerskates delivering the food) as it is practically impossible to get him out at meal times.

So are we talking thurs (tomorrow) or neaxt thursday? Either way I'm free so count me in. What time?

quokka · 28/02/2007 09:55

thanks for saying I'd make a good doula thats really ecouraging for me .

have at look here for the cpc website

Paddlechick666 · 28/02/2007 10:03

seriously I think you'd be really good at it.

especially if the mum was being led into decisions by the delivery team - as can happen.

i considered a doula and i sort of wish i had used one now. when i was yelling for an epidural i could've used a calm person to talk me thru what ended up being a rushed decision.

dh just wanted to see me out of pain and the midwives thought my labour was too quick so wanted to slow me down.

sfxmum · 28/02/2007 10:16

good morning everyone

glad to hear mrsR got some respite
hope eleusis LO not too ill and recovers quickly

paddle glad the night went ok

off to pool in a mo. cpc bit out of the way for me i think think we will do something nearer to home

have a nice day all

suejonez · 28/02/2007 12:33

sfx I can give you a lift to cpc if you want to come but will be leaving around 9.45 ish.

I am talking about this Thursday as I will be back in work next Thursday and only available Tuesdays and Fridays in March (then only Fridays thereafter)

I thought Mothercare cafe worked quite well for D and I (nice to see you Foxie) and the latte was very nice. Probably best to avoid the mornings in future as it becomes a bit of a scrum but nice to have somewhere for him to play and not worry about him crawing around.

foxabout2pop · 28/02/2007 13:01

Sue - glad you enjot=yed the cafe - either your DS has got heavier or I've got more tired!!

Paddle - so glad it went well last night , hopefully your Dh is turning a corner

Quokka thanks - I think you'd be a fantastic doula as you come across as being very calm and positive. Hope you make a good chauffeur too LOL!!!

Puds - think I have your number so will text me address today

BTW I had my first twinges last night - woke at 4am and had mild period pains. Lay they thinking "..and....?" but they faded. But first stirrings so hopefully will happen in next couple of days....

ComeOVeneer · 28/02/2007 13:08

Fingers crossed it happens soon foxie, those last fewdays before the birth are so tedious aren't they.

Paddle, I'm not quite up to speed with the story re your dh, but am pleased you had a good evevning.

Anyone else having a miserable day (weather wise)? Fortunatley ds's all in one waterproof arrived this morning, so I will be ble to keep him much cleaner and drier than he was at the farm. This morning at dd's school therewas a huge puddle in the play ground, as I was saying goodbye to dd at the door ds broke free and made a beeline for said puddle with me following in hot persuit. Luckily a father was coming in the opposite direction and intecetped ds just as he was about to launch himself through the air into the puddle. He was very miffed to have missed the chance of saturating himself.

pudding77 · 28/02/2007 13:18

lol at CoV's ds - guess I have this to look forward to!

Foxie, will keep my phone charged & switched on!

Got absolutely soaked coming back from music class this morning - I get in the house and it stops raining, typical!

OP posts:
Eleusis · 28/02/2007 13:24

Being the wicked old witch that I am, I sent nanny out into the rain to do the school and ballet run with DD and kept DS here in the nice warm house with me.

suejonez · 28/02/2007 13:47

Tis miserable isn't it Cov? I am heading for Tesco's when D wakes up. I am teaching him to nap for longer than 45 mins now that he is only having one a day. So when he woke up at 1.30 having gone to sleep at 12.45, I picked him up and rocked him back to sleep hopefully for another 30 mins. I'm going to persevere with one nap at about 12.45 and try and get it to 1.5 hrs at least.

Fingers crossed.

Thought mothercare cafe was a bit manic foxie but was happier with him crawling around than I am in M&S and I am limited to 10 mins before he gets bored in the chair at M&S so nice to go somewhere for a bit longer.

MrsBigD · 28/02/2007 14:18

I miss you lot

Saying that, found the perfect thing to do here on a Wednesday morning if weather totally rubbish... they have a Thrift Shop, which also does very cheap Tea/coffee/home made cakes and everybody there is so friendly and didn't treat me like a complete newbie

Foxie hope all goes well once the twinges turn into something more serious .

Please keep me posted by email. Don't get much time for mn atm

2Cute · 28/02/2007 14:20

Ele - Hope DS recovers quickly and gives you a chance to chill out today

Paddle - V pleased you had a good night! I hope it's all positive from now

MrsR - glad you finally got some much needed rest. It's amazing what a bit of sleep can do!

Quokka - Me finks you'll make a fab doula! If/when I manage to get pg, I'll have to fly you back from SG for the birth!

ComeOVeneer · 28/02/2007 14:23

We've now had a massive hail storm. I promised dd I wouldtaake her tothe park after school, but I think I am going to have to try and bribe her with something else. Pehaps we will do some baking instead, even though I have justcleaned the kitchen and washed the floor .

suejonez · 28/02/2007 14:26

I am going off this thread - someone baking and someone making their own play dough and me just wittering on about where I had coffee today
