There's a chance we may be moving there and I was wondering if any mners live nearby. I would like to move but the thought of having nobody (girls) to go for a drink with fills me with dread so is there anybody socialable nearby who'd come for a drink with me if we moved. I'm very nice honestly!

Just seen a lovely two bed cottage in Meltham centre it's probably a bit small bedroom wise and there's no parking apart from round the corner and in a carpark a bit further down the road but it's idyllic! I don't think it would be a sensible buy but it has exposed beams, an inglenook fireplace and is grade II listed.
We're going to see it next saturday and I know it's going to be too small but it's so pretty , I know we won't end up buying it but I still want to go and look!

Hello NBG! I'm getting quite excited now we know the move is definate.

BLWisbest · 27/02/2007 21:34

You going to see them this Saturday?

I love looking at houses

sarahhal · 27/02/2007 21:35

Liking 1 and 4 best!! Scholes is lovely, friends of mine used to live there. Wonder if the Holmbridge one is perhaps on quite a busy road. Scholes is def a really nice village with a good primary . They're good prices aren't they?

ledodgyDave · 27/02/2007 21:36

Yes this saturday very handy actually as it's nephew's Birthday on the Sunday (he lives in Denby Dale) so mil is coming with us and we're leaving the kids with her and their cousins while we go and view the properties and visit some local estate agents and maybe a local pub for lunch LOL.

ledodgyDave · 27/02/2007 21:37

Yes the prices are fab! I like the same ones as you Sarah. The lady from the scholes property was so lovely she kept me chatting on the ohone for ages she's a homeopath but is getting on a bit and the 3 floors are a bit too much for her.

sazzlelou · 27/02/2007 21:38

hi ledodgy
I live in Holmfirth and I went to Holmfirth high, its a really good school.
Holmbridge is nice, most of the links you've posted from holmbridge are ex-council houses, dont know if this is a problem, it is for some people.
One of my friends live on holme close and her house is nice
Hope this helps?

sazzlelou · 27/02/2007 21:40

Oooh and Scholes is really nice, and that house is really nice btw

sarahhal · 27/02/2007 21:41

Mmmm, being nosey(again) When did you leave Holmfirth High sazzlelou?

ledodgyDave · 27/02/2007 21:43

Sazz do you mean the links further down? My bil went to see holm close for us and said they were ex council houses and they did stand out a bit. Normally I wouldn't be bothered by this they look better than the council houses here lol but we decided against them anyway.

ledodgyDave · 27/02/2007 21:44

Whereabouts in Holmfirth are you Sazzlelou?

sazzlelou · 27/02/2007 21:45

Yeah I did, sorry only just looked at this thread today.
The one's you're going to see on Saturday look nice.
I really like Holmfirth, especially Scholes and Honley

sazzlelou · 27/02/2007 21:46

I lived in Scholes most of my life and i'm now in Honley but hope to move back to Scholes
Sorry x-post

ledodgyDave · 27/02/2007 22:14

Fab! See you there.

sarahhal · 02/03/2007 22:24

Good luck with the viewings tomorrow Ledodgy! Have especially got my fingers crossed for the Scholes house for you!!

Oooh, by the way... In my property obsession, did you see that Simon Blyth house at Grange Moor? Three beds, cottage, rural.... £139,000!!! In the words of the old advert, saw it and thought of you

Then you could be my nearest MNer and we could go the New Inn at Grange Moor, or The Blacksmiths Arms...or the Sun Inn ( get my drift...!!!)

sarahhal · 02/03/2007 22:25

OK Wisewoman if you are on this thread I know that you are really my nearest Mnetter!!!

And...... what happened to celebrating your birthday
