There's a chance we may be moving there and I was wondering if any mners live nearby. I would like to move but the thought of having nobody (girls) to go for a drink with fills me with dread so is there anybody socialable nearby who'd come for a drink with me if we moved. I'm very nice honestly!

Ahh yes, Wooley could be a bit ££££. I guess it wouldnt be great weather wise either as its quite high up.

Bozza · 07/02/2007 09:10

But v. picturesque. What sort of house are you thinking of? You say two bed - old or new? Terrace/cottage type thing or more modern town house?

What I love about these areas is that they're all very picturesque and surrounded by greenery but your never very far from anything IYSWIM.

Have a look on Rightmove to get an idea of prices in those areas.

Oooo ooo, just thought. Cawthorne is gorgeous. Could be a bit pricey but may not be depending on what your paying atm.
High Hoyland too, or would you say not Bozza?

I'm actually quite jealous

ledodgy · 07/02/2007 09:48

LOl Ideally i'd prefer an older character type house.

Hello! I live just down the road in Midgley (well, its 10 mins in the car but that's not far!). I have a dd (7) and a ds (16 mths). Denby Dale is lovely, but the main road is very busy so don't move to a house close to it because you may get squished! There are lots of nice places to go to around and abouts, which we will show you if you come and join our gang there's LOADS of us (well, a few!!!)

sarahhal · 07/02/2007 10:42

Morning ledodgy!! Goodness, we seem to be taking over this meet up section us Hudds/Wakefield/Barnsley lot don't we!!!
I remember "chatting " to you last year ledodgy when you first thought about moving over here. We're just in Flockton so very near. My DSes are almost the same age as your children - in fact, if you moved here and they keep the middle school system, then our eldest would be at middle school together
And oh yes, any one to go for a drink with, yes pleas count me in!!

mrsvern · 07/02/2007 10:45

Hi

I'm over in Holmfirth so only 10/15 mins away from Denby Dale.

I love it here

Ellbell · 07/02/2007 10:52

High Hoyland is one of my fave places. Sometimes go walking in Deffer Woods. Also like Clayton West and looked at some houses there last year, but eventually stayed put in lovely Ossett (where the schools, incidentally, are fab).

Bozza · 07/02/2007 11:06

I think High Hoyland is fine, very small though and high up - depends whether you would like that or not. I go through it to get to the M1 when I am working. If you moved to Cawthorne you could live at Cannon Hall in the summer.

High Hoyland and Cawthorne would put you into Barnsley, Bretton would put you into Wakefield, but Denby Dale/Scissett/Clayton West are Kirklees.

Sarah which middle school do they go to from Flockton?

ledodgy · 07/02/2007 11:10

Ok my budget is around 145 tops. Not much I know.

Mrs vern i've been looking at some lovely properties in Holmfirth that would be my first choice but it may just be that bit too far from dp's work.

Hi Gingermonkey Yeah I know about the main road bil's house is actually right on Wakefield road. I wouldn't mind too much though as the garden is lovely.

I would have thought Holmfirth was nearer, but also more expensive. Might have a look for a nice house for you.

ledodgy · 07/02/2007 12:00

this looks lovely but no garden

Bozza, they go to Scissett from Flockton. Strange catchment I think as Emley go to Kirkburton!
