I'm moving to St. Leonards in Exeter, and have a 13 month old baby.
Would love to hear from anyone in the area to find out about baby groups or meeting up for a coffee...

all the best,

x

I had a good look at a family on St David's hill yesterday, a dark-haired hippie couple and two little boys. just in case it was a mumsnet family or franca and co but they weren't wearing hats.

just as well we have a meet-up coming up to save us from all this effort of mumsnetter-guessing.

franca70 · 06/02/2007 10:20

! couldn't agree more, I'm constantly on the look out. sadly, the hippie couple wasn't us...
will someone tell me off, I should be working

franca70 · 06/02/2007 10:30

oh my god fennel just read your profile.
DO YOU WORK AT THE UNIVERSITY????????????

fennel · 06/02/2007 10:45

yes, I do. do you?

but I don't know many people there as am new and also work from home a lot, so it's not likely I know you.

I only filled in that profile yesterday to try and win a free weekend in a posh hotel on this week's competition. didn't really want it up there but the possibilitiy of a freebie weekend drew me in....

franca70 · 06/02/2007 11:01

no I don't, dh does. sorry, I really shouldn't have asked. good thing we are meeting up soon though, it's nerve wracking.
really hope you win that weekend!

fennel · 06/02/2007 11:03

I don't mind you asking, am not that private a person.

It's an effort trying to remember not to post too many personal details on a public website.

franca70 · 06/02/2007 11:11

I know, I think I've completely given myself away.
anyway, exeter is that small (or perhaps the university is big...)

franca70 · 06/02/2007 11:12

and dh is blissfully unaware of my mn addiction

fennel · 06/02/2007 13:38

mumsnet addiction. what's that?

Another question. Does anybody have a cleaner and/or know what the going rate is here if you advertise for one?

I've checked mumsnet threads but most people seem to live in London and I don't know if it's different here to Manchester where we used to live.

its at the 'knight club' in beacon heath- v easy to find- 6.30 til 8.30 every fri eve. its £2 per family (i think) per week, it only runs in term time but outside of termtime we do other activities eg bowling, swimming, at no extra cost. there are people there who do crafts and other activities with the kids. the adults (mostly mums but some dads too) sit around drink coffe, moan about their kids and generally offload. and sometimes we go out of an evening without kids! its nice to go there and let them be themselves and not feel you have to 'explain' all the time. will ask if theres any free spaces if youre interested?

ivelostmyboobsboohoo · 06/02/2007 14:02

oh yes I have met him, and I think her too, though I can't quite work out who's who at school.

franca70 · 06/02/2007 14:45

fennel, I'm vaguely looking for a cleaner too. The best bet would be to go to magdalen rd and look at the adverts on the newsagent window. I've been meaning to do this since christmas, and obviously I haven't done it yet (inefficient person emoticon).
Ivelost you have too many cars!

fennel · 06/02/2007 14:51

Good idea Franca. I've looked in our local Post Office but it has lots of adverts for landscape gardeners and babysitters, no cleaners. Am going to advertise there but need some idea of prices. Maybe St Leonards would be more expensive than average though?

we need a particularly stout-hearted cleaner, that's partly why I've been resisting getting one. i am embarrassed to have to find someone who's not phased by a lot of mess and squalor

franca70 · 06/02/2007 14:57

yes, possibly re st leonards. another place with lots of adverts is the newsagent in queen street. we'll try to remember to have a look there.

franca70 · 06/02/2007 14:58

sorry, I'll try etc etc. Although I think it's mainly bedsits and yoga classes

ivelostmyboobsboohoo · 06/02/2007 15:03

my friend used a cleaning co called 'dawn frsh'- sounds like a feminine hygiene wipe

franca70 · 06/02/2007 15:05

lol
or even damn fresh
