Move was ok - removals were v late turning up so we didn't get done until 9pm!

ComeOyefaithfulVeneer · 07/12/2006 16:44

The tornado was in the road next to where dh's aunt lives

harktheheraldfoxessing · 07/12/2006 16:51

Mrs R: I'll cat you.

My LOs have had more tv today and yesterday than in their whole lives Xmas Sad. And I may have a teeny tiny crush on that weird bloke from Lazytown [fblusg]. he's well fit!! I read that he's responsible for reducing childhood obesity in his country (is it finland?). either way, he gets my vote.

MrsRecycle · 07/12/2006 17:09

Pudding - have emailed you his details (whispers wonder if you used dh's company - he was working late last night!).

Foxes - not sure about floor tiling but I'd imagine he could do it quite easy as he mananged to fit some architrave quite easy.

Oxo - CAT me and I can give you his details.

ComeOyefaithfulVeneer · 07/12/2006 17:13

Did anyone other than me feel the effects of the tornaado round our end? Firstly at around 11am/12am within seconds it went totally dark outside and there was horrendous thundering and howling but no rain. It was so loud that I thought our roof had caved. Then on the way back from Kingston at around 5pm driving home was fine but all of a sudden there was powerful gusts, my dad battled against the wind to get indoors with DS and I couldn't close my car door and got smacked into the door by the wind! I can't imagine how it must of been for the people around Kensal Green

Paddle - Train is doing good and hasn't even been moved by DS since I explained that Santa phoned mummy and said that the train is not a playing toy but a decoration to enjoy looking at!

Paddlechick666 · 08/12/2006 08:21

oooh 2cute, you're good!

can i get santa's phone number please?

we had a major squall around 11am yesterday, i was at work so near the South Bank.

mum didn#t go out all day virtually as it was so foul around here. she said it went as dark as night at one point.

poor people tho...........

mellowchristmas · 08/12/2006 08:57

Hi everyone, [big wave]

I've been slaving away on setting up my new store and I'm really pleased I've done my first blog for my new website.

It's been a herculean effort to try and stay away from MN but I'm giving myself a little break as it's Friday and the start of the weekend.

Quokka,
Great idea for a Christmas card. I'll pop down to the local art supply store today to get a Christmas stencil. Dd got back from yours and started blowing raspberries and doing little shouts like your ds2. That is sooooooo cute!! We have to get them together more frequently so he can teach her more.

Pud,
How did you manage to get back online so quickly from your new house? You must have a super broadband provider.

Thanks to everyone who sent me links and voucher codes. I'll get cracking on Christmas shopping today.

This is the 1st year we're hosting Christmas dinner at our flat as well so I'm really nervous about getting Christmas dinner right on a budget.

Normally, I'll just cheat and buy as much as I can that's been prepared beforehand. But this year I'll have to cook more of the food.

Foxie,
Glad you're feeling better. I had the most awful colds when I was pregnant. I couldn't get out of bed for a week while dh was away in Barcelona partying it up!

hoxohoxohoxo · 08/12/2006 08:58

yes, it went dark here. Having thought about it, I realise that I turned the lights on at about 11am and didn't turn them off again until after 2pm. Didn't think about it at the time.D'OH.
There was lightening too, but that;s not that unusual.
byw: morning all

mellowchristmas · 08/12/2006 09:07

Foxie,

Are your local residents citizens-to-be? I'm just intrigued by the "to Harrods for an English shop"?

sfxmum · 08/12/2006 09:27

good morning all

our tree should go up this weekend, that should be fun, dd is into climbing, little mountaineering poppet will not doubt try to get the shiny star

hope you all OK

mellow saw your site, it is a fantastic idea will pass it along

Paddlechick666 · 08/12/2006 09:40

HEY! I want to see Mellow's site too!

show me, show me, show me!!!

going up into loft later to excavate tree and decs.

intend to put on coffee table behind sofa in bay window - it's only a little one.

dilemma, will leave nowhere to put presents [sad. have got bigger tree but dd will have field day with presents!

also, can you put ordinary decs on a fibre optic tree?

Paddlechick666 · 08/12/2006 09:48

okay, i saw the link in the other thread - sorry for shouting lol.

looks great mellow. like your ethics.

a friend of my mother's has started an ethical clothing website which launched just recently. it's all very swish but seriously expensive stuff like baby t shirts for £10 so not up my street unfortunately.

i've bookmarked you - you should post under the Mumsnet job/services section too.

ho hum, i should do some work i guess.

where's Uwila? Nanny better or are you still covering?

foxie, tomorrow for pc repairs could be good....

mellowchristmas · 08/12/2006 10:17

Thanks PC and sfx. I'll see if I could get a free posting under MN services.

For anyone else who's interested, the site is at www.greentrading.co.uk [shameless plug for site]

I think the problem with organic and fair-trade at the moment is that it's expensive and not very stylish. This is where I hope to make a difference. I would like to make it affordable and stylish enough one will want to wear it for the style and not to secure eco credentials.

PC, can I have the URL of your mom's friend's site? Got to check out the competition.

snowfallatxmasmum · 08/12/2006 10:27

oh what the heck here goes
