The brand new general chit-chat thread

I thought we were limited to a very small pack of DVDs? Was thinking we could remove cases and put a sigle pice of kleenex or loo roll between DVDs so they don't get scratched. Or tissue paper if any one has that handy.

I've asked DH to cut a copy of Fawlty Towers for Sue (complete set). Paddle, can you come by my work in the morning? Or, possibly, if I have time I can swing by your place on my way in tomorrow at about 7:00 or 7:15am. If I ring you can you come outside and collect so I don't have to park?

PortAndLemonaid · 19/12/2006 15:04

Lastest quote seems to be based on 2 kg. I recently sent out a package with several paperbacks in that was aroung 1.3 kg so I am guessing that 2 kg would be quite a lot of DVDs if most of the packaging is removed. Whether there's space for anything else is likely to depend on how many DVDs we rustle up between us...

Are there likely to be any customs legal issues with copied DVDs? Don't want Sue to end up in Kazakh choky...

hoxohoxohoxo · 19/12/2006 15:35

hey - MrsB: did you pass on that bug via t'internet? ds now puking violently, pale white and massive headache (which he's had for 2 days - oopps). he went to sleep last night at 6pm, voluntarily, and again at 10am. so, rather than basking in it like a selfish so and so, I should (with hindsight) have been worried. Or at least a little preturbed.

Given MrsB's experience, he is consigned to the leather sofa only.

so I'm sure you're all delighted that I won't come out to play on Thurs and spread our particular brand of festive joy.

I ahve made arrangements with paddle to collect my sj box.

am off to mop up and sing woe is me several times.
MrsB, join with me.......

MrsBojangles · 19/12/2006 15:50

. When dd got ill she went to bed voluntarily as well. I should have known then

DS still off his food except chocolate ... that's my boy!

I'll see what I can find for Sue's package

2Cute · 19/12/2006 15:53

Can't think of anything to send but am happy to contribute £10 towards postage.

Mrs B - So sorry about the sofa and sickness.

Foxi - Poor you

Just in case everyone hasn't visited the day-time thread recently, pop over day time meet

hoxohoxohoxo · 19/12/2006 15:54

anyone know how long this bug lasts? I'm kind if hoping it will get us out of Christmas day at MILs

2Cute · 19/12/2006 15:57

lol hoxo! It's been ranging anything from 24 hrs - 1 week. DS had it for 2 days then it went as quick as it came on.

hoxohoxohoxo · 19/12/2006 16:03

bugger

pudding77 · 19/12/2006 16:45

Uwila, I'm not far from your work if you want to drop it off at mine, or we could arrange to meet somewhere?

harktheheraldfoxessing · 19/12/2006 17:00

Uwila - I'll be driving through Kew Green tonight sometime between 7.45-9pm. I could collect your tenner.

errr - whose going to collect mine though? LOL

Paddlechick666 · 19/12/2006 17:09

nanou, happy to pick up your stuff tomorrow. text me will you otherwise won't know how to get in touch!

uwila, can pick yours up thursday morning but not tomorrow. can do a drive by pickup no prob unless you've organised something with pud already.

i have no concept of what 2kg weighs! am planning to put in a little box of green and blacks tho ;-)

has anyone got any kids dvds they could include for Daniel? i know he won't be much of a watcher at the mo but it might be a good diversionary.

lemonaid, i've nominated pud's as a drop off point (cheeky me!) and i can arrange for Fed-Ex to pick up from my place thursday arvo.

didn't Sue say she could receive text messages on her kazak or uk mobile? didn't she put her kaz mobile number up?

could someone check early blog entries?

hoxo, hope ds is on the mend soon and as i said - please disinfect your parcel before handing over! no one here or in kaz wants it!!!

MrsBojangles · 19/12/2006 17:26

I can probably pull some kids dvd's Have babybright which would b e good for Daniel
to give basic english understanding of shapes and colours

Sue e-mailed me about an hour ago regarding cat sitting. Do you want me to e-mail her anything - like "waht's your address?"

harktheheraldfoxessing · 19/12/2006 17:37

Have just e-mailed Sue to try and get an address, but she posted this on her blog:

Kind thought of those who have offered to send something out - I don't know where we'll be so I won't have an address for you and I have also discovered that Mad Murphys Pub (is there one in every town in the world?!) rents english speaking videos.

Lucy/Justamum - as you will see in the photo album, the snowsuit you kindly gave me was a little large so I have donated it to the childrens home and have bought a second hand one here. I have discovered that our snow suits are a bit wimpy for the depths of the Siberian winter so probably just as well as the local one is much thicker.

Paddlechick666 · 19/12/2006 18:27

we could send the parcel to mad murphy!! any relation foxie?

destination address isn't too big a deal - the fed-ex office would be fine and we would just tell sue to collect it from there.

harktheheraldfoxessing · 19/12/2006 20:11

paddle/MrsD/Quokka

have sent a message to your e-mail addresses with an e-mail from Sue re where she can collect the parcel from. Her sister is also sending one so could possibly double up.

MrsBojangles · 19/12/2006 21:15

I can donate 5 kids dvd's so far
Winnieh the Poo a very merry pooh year
Peppa Pig
Bob The Builder
Baby Bright 2
Teddy Bear sing a long (not great but Daniel probably will enjoy singing and dancing teddies)

If you still need the tenner let me know and I will post a cheque or if I ever see you in person will hand it over!

snowfallatxmasmum · 19/12/2006 22:41

hello been offline for most of day let me know where to drop / send the money

sorry so many are feeling poorly hope you recover soon

2quokkasandapeartree · 19/12/2006 22:53

Ok heres a suggestion, I can drive to DHL on Thurs as I'm not working. Does everyone use paypal? If so people can just deposit money in that, all you need is an email account. I don't mind collecting the money, or going to dhl if it helps?

MrsJohnCuSackFullOfPresents · 20/12/2006 01:52

I can paypal the £10 towards postage to whoever it needs to go to
Shame I don't work for DHL any more (or live in the country) - I could have helped!

uwila · 20/12/2006 08:36

I'm n ot going near anyone who has "the" bug.

Can someone come by my work tomorrow morning? I can leave the goods downstairs with reception and you can drive in and park outside the building, so parking isn't a problem. I'm on the Great West Road (which runs under the M4) between the Chiswick roundabout and Gillette corner, closer to the Chiswick roundabout.

Paddlechick666 · 20/12/2006 08:45

quokka if you could do that it would be brilliant1

i'll collect from Uwila and Hoxo and Nanou. If anyone else has anything could they get it to Pud's tomorrow morning?

I'll deliver the parcel to Quokka before heading home.

Happy to paypal you in payment too.

snowfallatxmasmum · 20/12/2006 08:50

hello good morning
i can paypal or send cheque just let me know
