trying2bgood · 15/12/2006 22:39

For those of you who live anywhere near Acton, there will be a regular farmers market at The Mount, Kings street. I think from the New year onwards. They were here the week before last and were really good, also got some sausages which were yummy!

Mrsb - hope ds gets better soon. Vomiting is always so traumatic on all levels. Dh hates vomit so often left it to me to deal with!

Mellow - Happy aniversary. Yes so easy to forget. Am still waiting for dh to take me out for my 31st birthday and I am turning 32 in 9 days!

mellowchristmas · 16/12/2006 08:45

PC, the farmer's market is on the High st between 9 - 12 on Sat next to Barclays bank.

I hope everything is even better on the home front this mornng.

MrsBojangles · 16/12/2006 10:59

PC I'm a sahm now so we can meet up during the week for a chat if you want Not Tuesday though because that's when I'll ditch ds at nursery so I've got a day to blitz their room and get rid of stuff whilst they're not looking . Unless of course you want to help and 'inherit' a few toys?

How about mine on Thursday then? I've got no plans so can do either am or pm, or have a bit of an open house & turn up when you can!

God, that sounds like I don't have a life at all doesn't it?

2Cute · 16/12/2006 16:11

Afternoon all

Went to party at Snakes and Ladders this morning....WAAAAAY to manic on weekends for my liking!

Snowmum - that recipe would be great thanks. Can you cat it to me?

Looks like its a house warming party round pud's place! I'm only kidding pud! (Or am I ) lol

We'll be heading off to Kew in a bit so I'm feeling all festive and chuffed with myself for having finished the Christmas shopping!

2Cute · 16/12/2006 16:12

Pud - lol! Looks like you read my mind as I was writing my post! They do say that great minds think alike

pudding77 · 16/12/2006 16:18

2cute!

snowfallatxmasmum · 16/12/2006 20:08

hello all

just to let you know that there is an update from sue on her site and i think she might need cheering up (not horrible but disappointing)

pudding77 · 16/12/2006 21:45

that is so sad for Sue. I can't believe she has to wait so long.

Paddlechick666 · 17/12/2006 08:45

real busy today so not much time to log on and check but have read sue's blog and am so sad for her.

what d'you think about an idea that we have a bit of a whip round and try to fed-ex a small box of bits and bobs out if not in time for xmas day but at least for NY.

i've got a million DVDs here and we could pop in some chocs or something.........

am sure if we all stump up couple of quid we could do it.

we'd need an address tho, or we could just send it for collection at the fed-ex office and put something in her guest book.......

hoxohoxohoxo · 17/12/2006 09:07

i'm happy with that - but what region are the dvds???

Paddlechick666 · 17/12/2006 16:03

i think they're all pretty much multi-region but can't be 100%........

MrsBojangles · 17/12/2006 19:33

I'm happy to stump up a couple of pounds for SJ's parcel. As she'll be using her laptop to view the dvd's I'd say she needs region 2 or 1 or 0. I'll have a look what we've got as well.

any other suggestions on a carrier?

MrsBojangles · 17/12/2006 22:50

I'll have to check. Found a courier company that does £5.99 within the UK. Shall go and have a look wether he does international

Hi everyone

Have been offline all weekend and very tempted just to buy a laptop in Tescos later.

Added to that, I made my breakfasrt and lucnh this morning at 6am and left them both on kitchen table, so have no food

DD has taken to waking at 5.30/6am each day and whining, which is very distracting when trying to do the Monday morning rush

Paddle - thanks for that book recommendation, bought nephew the Dangerous Book for Boys, its absolutely brill isn't it?

Oxo - we used OIS after a recomendation; they were great and very cheap.

Comeone - oooh good luck at this stressful time. Hope that woman sorts her pooch query out so everyone can move

Mrs B - sorry to hear about DS and his vomiting, you've had a hard time of it recently

LOL at the sausages discussion. When DS was a baby he didn't have any meat until 24 months, and then only organic. My second child, on the other hand, had her first MacDonals "chicken" nuggets at 9 months old Agree with Paddle, its OK to feed junk one day a week, as long as they eat heathily most of the time

God, I'm starving

MrsBojangles · 18/12/2006 11:55

checked with the courier I've been using in the UK... to Almaty a parcel up to 5kg is £89.99

Foxie go and get some food . I'm off food thanks to the kids who've passed on the puking bug to me. somebody please shoot me! RIGHT NOW

foxy would reccomend that you get a dell. They are great, and cheaper than the shops!

Just googled a few courier places and it looks like £100+ for any kind of package up to 2kg. If we have 10 people willing to contribute then it might be do-able?

uwila · 18/12/2006 12:41

I wouldn't buy a pc from Tesco. I would definitely buy one from Dell. And I think that you can get nectar points from Dell as well. DH always buys Dell (and he settles for nothing less than the best -- ops manager for a software company).

Also, Foxy, have you tried restoring the machine? Effectively you wipe the disk clean (losing everything so save anything you want to keep elsewhere) and the reinstall the original software. This will deffo clean off an viruses. But, of course, you would have to have all the original software on disk.

harktheheraldfoxessing · 18/12/2006 13:04

Uwila/Quokka - Thanks for the Dell recomendations. Their website has a sale on atm as well. Didn't realise about the Nectar points!! Anyother tips anyone can offer before I start to buy?

You're very welcome to have a look on their site and recommend one to me too! I don't "do" whizzy things on computers, just do internet shopping, Mumsnetting and e-mails.

Regarding Almaty - do you think it might be cheaper if one of us flew there with the DVDs???

ComeOyeFaithfulVeneer · 18/12/2006 13:08

It looks like I am never going to get down your way. We still haven't exchanged contracts.

Paddlechick666 · 18/12/2006 13:12

afternoon all

hope your weekends were good despite the puking and the lack of pc access.

foxie, i seriously think your problem is BT altho your PC is slow etc. you're the 3rd person i know in richmond/kew who's been offline on Broadband for a bit.

would recommend sony vaio if you're going laptop but they're not overly cheap! dell are good and very reputable. you can get an entry level family desktop for under £300.

need to move fast on the Almaty thing - have we 10 or more people willing to dosh up a tenner? how many dvds can we get into a 1kg parcel? LOL.

personal update: dh has been at home all weekend and it's been lovely. he's gone off to lithuania now but we've planned xmas eve/day together. dd has loved having him around - i'm exhausted! men make so much work!!!

finger's crossed that we've turned a corner.....

must go, dd painting herself with fromage frais whilst i am bad parent on MN catching up with you lot!!

2quokkasandapeartree · 18/12/2006 13:12

oh poo veneer! I'm sure it will happen soon, might be a good thing not moving over xmas and NY's?

Foxy I don't know much about computers, do you want my dh to have a look? Do you use your computer for digital photos, or film?

2quokkasandapeartree · 18/12/2006 13:14

yay yay pc, sounds brill!

I will put a tenner in, but mainly have aussie dvd's so might not be appropriate!
