The brand new general chit-chat thread

OP posts:
Paddlechick666 · 15/12/2006 14:10

erm, personally i didn't. actually dd hasn't had sausages at all yet.

i love them altho they're not overly healthy but i think it's the fact that the meat doesn't really break down very well in a weaning sort of way that put me off!

she had her first fishfingers n chips last weekend - bad mother alert LOL. maybe i'll try sausages this weekend! once a week she can have what i term junk food LOL.

ComeOyefaithfulVeneer · 15/12/2006 14:13

Hi all, we are supposed to be exchanging contracts this afternoon (heard that before?) Today has been a nightmare. I rang the movers this morning to confirm the date for next week and they have double booked so frantically rang around tofind a new one. Then the woman at the top of the chain is staling the exchange (which is all ready to go) because she needs to find out if the flat she is buying will allow her to keep her dog there. Surely you would check something like that before you put in an offer to buy the place????

snowfallatxmasmum · 15/12/2006 14:23

mellow - we did not give sausages until well after 13m and then they were from the local organic butcher, she sometimes has bits of vegetarian stuff and tofu too.

pc - dd really likes chips and has had fish fingers but not very often, she likes broccoli and sprouts

COveneer- best of luck with all the house stuff

uwila · 15/12/2006 14:28

Veneer, contact mrsrecycle. Her DH is in removals business and might be able to help.

I would give sausages to an 8 month old. But I'd peel the skins off. My kids love sausages. I do try to buy the high end ones that are mad of real meat rather pig teticles.... yuck!

hoxohoxohoxo · 15/12/2006 14:29

mellow: sainsburys do fab organic sausages that my ds has been eating since she could grab them off her brothers plate

I'm babyshitting today. luckily it started raining so I've had an excuse to put them infront of Spot the Dog with popcorn.

Suggestion on cheap presents. M&S have a 'do your own designer silk scarf' set, now marked down to £5. 3 boxes are £10 on teh buy 3, pay for 2 promotion. It comes with 2 scarves (1 long, 1 triangle) and I got teh kids to do handprints on the long ones and their own drawings on the other. Voila: 6 presents, all personalised and fab for a tenner.

Suggestion for teenagers - Buyagift dot com have paintballing for 8 in loads of locations for £20. Use the code 202020 to get 20% off. Either that or porn.

I'm looking for 'couples' presents for inlaws i.e. one present between two people: any suggestions? Last year we did Vinepolis token but we are a bit skint this year so am looking for inspired cheapies.

hoxohoxohoxo · 15/12/2006 14:31

Come on etc: someone I was talking with recently (Pudding?) used OIS, a moving firm based in town who were pretty good and a lot cheaper than the alternatives.

ComeOyefaithfulVeneer · 15/12/2006 14:34

Thanks guys. The moving firm is sorted after several frantic phonecalls. All that isholding us up is the blumming dog.

hoxohoxohoxo · 15/12/2006 14:38

can't you tip the removal van driver to reverse over it?
problem solved

ComeOyefaithfulVeneer · 15/12/2006 14:39

Nice idea unfortunately it isn't the people we are buying from it is the woman they are buying from. I will swing for her if this causes the chain to collapse, all over a bl**dy chihauhau.

snowfallatxmasmum · 15/12/2006 14:41

LOL@oxo no typo i take it

thanks for suggestions on presents too PC you sure Ted Baker ok for teens? lots flowers on packaging always fearful of trying to be cool with teens
sometimes saved inadvertently on that front by record collection, although i have no idea how some of that stuff got there.

on food front think will be less precious when second comes along whenever that may be

hoxohoxohoxo · 15/12/2006 14:49

Comeon: a chiuauauauau!!!! as nanou would say: ce n'est pas un chien, c'est un hors d'oeuvre.

(in fact she would say 'yap yap' as french dogs are all rats )

hoxohoxohoxo · 15/12/2006 15:37

OK - so now I'm panicking. I never belived it woudl happen but it has. DH has got a job interview in.....DORSET!!! WTF???

I love the idea of green and nice little villages, but I love the reality of 20 pubs/ restaurants within staggering distance. and a cinema, and a salon, and everything else here.

snowmum · 15/12/2006 15:38

Afternoon all. Glad to see I am not the only one experiencing probs with broadband. Back on the dial up, forgotten how slow it is...

Had a great time on Weds evening, lovely to meet everyone and pleased all were so friendly. Won't forget Quokka's petit chein, Nanous's dildo, Hoxo's rabbit.....

Re presents. I have wimped out this year (partly due to inability to shop online) and everyone over age 8 is getting gift vouchers. They get 2 gifts in 1, money and the chance to get outta house and go shopping! Have also previously agreed not to swap presents with adults, only for the kiddies which makes things sooooo much simpler.

2Cute, I have a recipe for eggless chocolate cupcakes. Any good?

uwila · 15/12/2006 16:42

Drug him on the morning of the interview.

pudding77 · 15/12/2006 18:46

lol @ uwila!

Good luck with the move comeon!

This new layout is really confusing me!

Dh has got wireless set up now so as of tomorrow I can be back in the living room with MN and not wait for ds to have a nap! yippee!

Did a bit of online xmas shopping today - John Lewis & Amazon, much much easier than dragging ds round the shops as he hates it. Typical male!

Well, off to get ds's bottle ready, hopefully catch up with you all later.

mellowchristmas · 15/12/2006 21:29

Oxo,

That's really funny, ". . . un hors d'oeuvre". LOL .

Well, we only have sausages from the Turnham Green butchers. Anyway, she's had it, crumbled in leek and potato soup, as I haven't had a chance to get back on MN after my question.

She's actually had penne with sausage sauce. I had actually meant to give her a whole fried sausage. But that would have been too much.

I just had my favourite spaghetti with clams and some nice wine. It's our anniversary today and we nearly forgot. That's what having a baby does to my brain.

Paddlechick666 · 15/12/2006 21:41

hi mellow!

am sure your dd loved it.

happy anniversary, your supper sounds lovely.

;-)

mellowchristmas · 15/12/2006 21:50

Hi PC,
Did you have Fatboys tonight?

pudding77 · 15/12/2006 21:52

Happy anniversary Mellow! We completely forgot ours this year...

By the way, the farmers market in Brentford have good sausages, all meat, so they might be ok to give to your dd. The butcher that's usually there is really helpful.

Anyway, I'm being kicked off to bed so dh can do some work. Goodnight!

MrsBojangles · 15/12/2006 21:55

Somebody shoot me please... ds has now succumbed to puking bug dd had. And he's a projectile vomiter... oh the joys.

just caught up with you gossipers and thanks for the laugh and I concur chihuahuas are ors d'heuvres LOL

MrsR's dh has a removal company?!? Handy to know for our move ... MrsR does he outside London?

OP posts:
mellowchristmas · 15/12/2006 21:58

Pud,
I keep meaning to go to the farmers market but never get round to it. I"ll do that tomorrow. How's your new house? When can I come and nose around? [fsmile}

pudding77 · 15/12/2006 22:00

& [hugs] for MrsB - I hope ds gets better quickly.

Hi Mellow, the new house is great thanks, ds has so much more room to move around and play in! You're welcome round any time. Maybe we can catch up next week some time?

pudding77 · 15/12/2006 22:01

Right, I'm really going to bed now... honest

snowfallatxmasmum · 15/12/2006 22:05

oh mrsB sympathies!

mellow&pudding so where is the farmers market? can't picture it

mellow happy anniversary
