I've been googling all day looking for green postal packaging. I finally found biodegradable polythene bags. I have to buy 500 though! I'll have to give that serious thought before I commit.

2quokkasandapeartree · 14/12/2006 20:31

Mellow buy them and then sell some on ebay

Oxo are you talking about the place that used to be called yummy mummy?

mellowchristmas · 14/12/2006 21:26

Good idea quokka! .
I'm actually thinking of getting them for my shop but not sure how many sizes I'll need so I'll have a lot of bags to use or sell.

trying2bgood · 14/12/2006 21:33

QUOKKA - Didn't the same thing happen with your dh's cat? You must be some beacon of cool to pets! Perhaps you should try sending them orders using the power of your thoughts and see if they follow them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Glad you all had fun. I really hope I can make the next one.

2Cute · 15/12/2006 00:16

Evening all! (Or should I say morning )

DH is due to arrive soon from his work Christmas do so I'm ready to have a good laugh!

Foxi - You feeling any better?

We'll be going to Kew Saturday late avo/early evening. Let me know if anyone else wants to meet up there.

harktheheraldfoxessing · 15/12/2006 09:28

Morning - nice to see MN back online!

2cute - I'm still really fluey (snuffle), thanks for asking.

We have DS/DD's school Christmas Disco tonight, which is always great fun, so have to last out for that of I won't get to see Santa Xmas Smile

Spent yesterday arvo at out work's older people's christmas lunch for a our tenants. Food was fab and they the local Catholic primary school choir perform hymns. I got a huge lump in my throat (hormones alert!) and had trouble swallowing my profiteroles with rich chocolate sauce.... Went to bed at 8.30pm, so I'd feel up to the Disco tonight.

Have our team Christmas lunch today at 12noon, then the company one next wek.

Ooohh don't you just love the party season? Xmas Wink

How are all the party girls today??

MtsD/Paddle, how are you and your LOs?

snowfallatxmasmum · 15/12/2006 09:35

good morningXmas Smile

oh it's mumsnet but not as we know it! all shiny and new and ever so slightly confusing for a sleepy head

hope all feeling poorly are on the mend

slight panic as have not bought any presents yet except for me dd and dh that is ok list time

uwila · 15/12/2006 09:57

This new look is rubbish. Much more obvious I am not working when I should be. Will have to reduce the MN time.

NO NO NO... This is BAD.

Paddlechick666 · 15/12/2006 09:59

morning all,

[confusedblinking] @ new layout!

i'm on HOLIDAYS till the New Year!!!!

use it or lose it I was told yesterday so use it I will.

supposed to be getting house in order today and do lots of silly jobs that never get done with dd tottering around under my feet.

we're scheduled to do Kew and FC tomorrow and some Xmas shopping too.

so far, have a gift for the Nanny, 1 gift each for grandparents, aunts and uncles (calender of dd looking cute) and 3 gifts for dh (all dd oriented!).

gulp! a bit to do then!

foxie, hang in there for the disco tonight! you did well to get the tix so enjoy!

MrsBojangles · 15/12/2006 10:06

How dare they change the layout on a day where I've got problems focussing?!?

How's everybody doing? Can't concentrate enough to catch up on all the posts. Thanks to my friends Ben(ilyn) and Day/Night Nurse I only get about a handful of coughing fits that bring tears to the eyes . And thankfully dd has gotten over her sicky bug and started eating yesterday which resulted in her having way too much energy. So today she's back at school.

I've already complained to MN HQ that this new format makes it harder to scan from threadwatch and obviously much more difficult to hide MN from work and, for me, dh. He thinks I spend too much time on here.

mellowchristmas · 15/12/2006 10:13

The festive smilies aren't working atm.

snowfallatxmasmum · 15/12/2006 10:20

i thought it was just me being a curmudgeon about this layout

omg the presents i think it will all come from the retail park

i will go to kew tomorrow but probably earlier for dd to see santa then entertain the teens if they don't get last minute teen commitments

Paddlechick666 · 15/12/2006 10:37

my eyesight's not the best and that awful blue is really hard to see.

humph!

Kew Retail Park will deff be my destination tomorrow too.

am also looking on amazon, d'you think it'd be a bit off to buy dh a self help book on depression for xmas? lol

i'm also buying a study guide for an exam i'm going to sit (again) in the NY. scarily it has made me realise that i quite like my job! gulp!!!

sfx, what teens? do you have teens?

snowfallatxmasmum · 15/12/2006 11:12

goodness no i spent my 20's and most of my 30's in debauched fancy free fashion, but i was a good auntie, am apparently now quite a boring one not sure if due to having a toddler or them being teens

not sure about self help books i think those only work on peole who think they are depre4ssed but are actually just bored
maybe they do saintly patiencethat sort of worksbucket loads of it

planning on short sharp sorties to the retail thing dd just keeps shouting MUMMY! very distracting

mrsB good news about dd hope you feel better soon, check yourself to an hotel for the night sure you feel better after an uninterrupted nights sleep

Paddlechick666 · 15/12/2006 11:36

ahh! i see! auntie to teens, me too! i am boring as well as i keep instructing my 13 year old neice to take swear words and any variant on the word "sex" out of her MSN name..................

she's a good kid tho, doesn't want anything for xmas and is happy to have an "ethical" gift of a goat for a village in africa or sponsoring an endangered animal.

okay, i've done 2 jobs............

harktheheraldfoxessing · 15/12/2006 11:37

Hi

My internet connection at home has completely died now so may be off line over the weekend.

Any ideas of a pressie for a 10 year old boy (my nephew)????

Paddlechick666 · 15/12/2006 11:48

what's up with it? i know someone else in kew with bt broadband and they've lost their connection too.

Dangerous Book for Boys (know in our house as the Book for Dangerous Boys) is supposed to be great for boys that age.

harktheheraldfoxessing · 15/12/2006 11:50

Paddle - oh I thought it was my PC? I'll give BT a ring later then. Its actually reassuting to find out its not just me.

I've seen that book for boys so will have a closer look at it - thanks

snowfallatxmasmum · 15/12/2006 11:57

my nephew started reading the 'series of unfortunate events' series at around that age as i recall

no idea what to give him at 13 we don't seem to have conversations these days, i talk he sort of grunts but occasionally he comes up and gives me big hugs, sister said he needs deodorantbut she is evil

Paddlechick666 · 15/12/2006 12:20

lol @ sfx, if he's still reading then try the stormbreaker books. or the dvd failing that. it's like Bond for kids.

if he really is in need of "manly" smellies get him some FCUK or Ted Baker and make him feel grown up and cool and trendy about it.

foxie, BT are spinning all sorts of BS lines on this. they told my nanny to switch both the Sky box and computer off for 3 days to fix it!

this REALLY makes my blood boil because people rely on them to give them proper advice and to provide a decent service.

FFS, that's like saying don't use the blimmin washing machine either coz of course it's all connected!

what's actually happening? ring me if you want.

harktheheraldfoxessing · 15/12/2006 12:23

Paddle - off to our Chrissie lunch now at work. But will try and sort it when I get home about 4pm. I may ask for a refund if I can't use the service [sngry]! May give you a buzz later if am sober

Can't believe I can't use MN all weekend

Paddlechick666 · 15/12/2006 12:28

enjoy luch foxie! and don't be getting drunk or that little cub will give you some greif!!!!

deffo get a refund, took them 3 weeks to connect me once and i had so many arguments with them. tyring to tell me it was my modem and computer.

they told me to it was static in my modem - ffs, at that point i lost it and started yelling "you're talking tripe woman" down the phone!

BT's tech support being in India meant she had no clue what tripe was!!!!!!!

mellowchristmas · 15/12/2006 12:49

Hooray!! They've changed the link colours back. My complaint worked!

Just kidding.

mellowchristmas · 15/12/2006 13:42
