Uwilalalalalala · 28/11/2006 08:41

PC, how was your night?

Life is crap sometimes.
But we love you.

mellowchristmas · 28/11/2006 08:42

Hi PC,

That sounded awful. I hope dd is better this morning. Keep us informed of her progress.

MrsBojangles · 28/11/2006 09:13

PC how are you and dd? Hope you got through the night ok {hugs}

harktheheraldfoxessing · 28/11/2006 11:58

Hi everyone

PC - glad your Mum is helping

I'm shirking from home today

Paddlechick666 · 28/11/2006 12:11

hi all

dd out to feed ducks with Grandma - she drives me nuts but glad she's here today!

thanks so much for all the good wishes, they've really meant a lot.

we had a restless night due to having to give her inhaler every 4 hours but i skipped the 6am one as she was sleeping so soundly.

the meds reduce over the next few days and i am just keeping an eye on her rate of breathing, diaphramatic movements etc.

my car crash life continues! I don't like to be bored or too much routine but really, this is ridiculous!

at least boss is being sympathetic so far........

hope everyone well, haven't read thru backlog yet.

;-)

harktheheraldfoxessing · 28/11/2006 15:59

Hi west London Gals

PC - glad your DD is recovering enough to feed the duck today

Hopefully she'll sleep a lot to reciver

I was shirking from home today and actually got a lot done so am pleased.

Went to a hospital dental appointment this arvo and managed to persuade them not to operate until June 2007 due to being PG and not wanting he x-rays (hurrah) I'm not in pain so my ordeal has been postponed to some vague point in the distant future

Booked all my ante natal refresher classes and QC and a second tour as well of their fab birth centre, so its all beginning to feel very real.

My ideal birth is to go into their birthing centre (complete with lava lamps and glittering disco balls ) and have a Doula accompany the birth . ATM I have placenta previa but am hoping it will shift. The first two births were straightforward so hopefully this will be so too.

Looking forward to seeing you all on 13th

Uwila · 28/11/2006 16:30

Oh no, foxy. How bad is the placenta previa? And how far along are you?

mellowchristmas · 28/11/2006 16:51

PC,
Glad dd is well enough to be out and about.

Gals, I need some help.

My boiler is acting up. Can someone recommend a plumber we can use?

Does anyone know a reasonably-priced garage for servicing an old Audi?

TIA

pudding77 · 28/11/2006 17:14

I know a plumber but there is a possibility he's in South Africa at the minute. I'll find out & let you know.

pudding77 · 28/11/2006 17:22

More updates from Sue

2quokkasandapeartree · 28/11/2006 17:27

mellow have a brilliant plumber foxy's used him and she's been happy - email me if you want the number

mellowchristmas · 28/11/2006 18:00

quokka,

Is it Dan? I've sent you an email.

harktheheraldfoxessing · 28/11/2006 18:53

Mellow/Quokka - actually I'm not happy. I paid him £100 and the problem has actually been made worse . We've had to call someone else out, who is much cheaper anyway. This second chappy is a roofer, and he did a 3 hour round tip on Saturday to clean our gutters and refused to charge us (he's a contact of DH). Mellow he'll be here again Saturday doing some work, so you can meet him and have a chat with him if you like abot what you need done.

For car services: I know a brilliant guy in Sheen (Richardsons - should be in the yellow pages or I can have a hunt for the number) who will do a service and won't rip you off. There's also one in Sheendale Road, Richmond who is fine (can't remember the name though) Do Audi's need special type of service?

Thanks for the Sue link

2quokkasandapeartree · 28/11/2006 19:22

I'm so sorry foxy, why didn't you call him back and get him to fix it?

pudding77 · 28/11/2006 19:35

Plumber is in SA unfortunately. But dh takes his car to TW Motors in Brentford and they always seem to do a good job.

pudding77 · 28/11/2006 21:35

Does anyone have a good remedy for a sore throat? Just hurts to swallow at the minute & I'd like to try and head off anything that might want to take up residence!!

sfxmum · 28/11/2006 21:44

i think a long time ago my then GP recommended gargling with soluble aspirin, obv not swallow

mellowchristmas · 28/11/2006 22:01

Thanks everyone.

Pud, I found TW Motors' website.

Foxie,
I'll speak to your chap Sat if boiler problem continues.
Can I have the phone number for Richardsons please? I couldn't find them on the Yellow Pages website. Is the garage on Sheendale Road called Stable Motors? That's the only one I found online.

Paddlechick666 · 28/11/2006 22:10

Pud, warm honey and lemon is good, optional tot of whisky! soluable aspirin also good to gargle.

if it's the viral thing going around, I had it a few weeks back, then the pharmacist can give you paracetemol and codeine which makes it bareable.

hope you feel better soon and thanks for your email, can't remember if i replied or not

harktheheraldfoxessing · 29/11/2006 05:54

Mellow - its Richardson Motors (Barnes), 26-28 Priests Bridge Road, SW14 8TA 8878-2827

Yes, the other one is Stable Motors, 5 Sheendale Road, Richmond W9 8948-3030.

Richardsons are great if you just want a service and/or MOT done and won't add on uneccesssary extras or tell fibs.

Quoks - Dan's repair seemed to make the problem worse. He did some work and said "if that doesn't work, call me" but then said to do a more extensive job would cost another £250, when in fact he didn't diagnose it properley in the first place, meaning £100 down the drain for us . The other guy is cheaper and immediately understood the problem. Not sure wether to phone Dan back or not - what do you think? What we'd like is a partial refund, rather than have him come back and sting us even further.

I woke at 3.30am this morning and now have sore throat too
