So clearly mumsnetters have a "look" about them. Glad you had a lovely time.

sarochka · 16/05/2004 16:46

glad you all had a lovely time. No didn't chicken out..really wanted to come as don't know anyone apart from through work and thought was great opportunity. Babysit got told off too. They forgot!!!! Anyway looking forward to next time and meeting you all then.

MsPoppins · 16/05/2004 17:38

I come from a village near Dover - only just found this link

MeanBean · 17/05/2004 13:26

I had a really nice time too - lets do it again some time. Looks like we need to leave a bit of time for more Kent people to find us!

sarochka · 18/05/2004 19:24

mspoppins where are you ? I am in Dover. Lots more people are finding mumsnet now from Kent which I think is great.

LucyJones · 18/05/2004 19:42

Hi! Anyone live in the Canterbury area? I would be up for an evening meal out in Canterbury but elsewhere a bit problematic as no transport....

Lisa2912 · 18/05/2004 20:06

have just seen this thread and can't believe how many there are of us locally! I moved here (Maidstone) from London a year ago, at about the same time as having DD, and would love to meet some other mumsnetters around here - if you are having another evening out (especially Maidstone, can't believe I missed that!) please may I come along? Would also be up for other locations, subject to DH being home in time to babysit (usually can be with enough notice as long as the London trains don't mess up....). I realise it's only a few days since the first meet-up, but perhaps we should plan the next one with plenty of notice?!

LucyJones · 18/05/2004 20:08

Hi Lisa - how old is your dd? I've got a 7 week old ds and so far haven't really met any mums in the area so am very interested in meeting up

Lisa2912 · 19/05/2004 08:36

Hi Lucy - dd is just coming up to one year so not the same age as yours, but it's just good to meet other people in the area. I have never been to Canterbury and have no idea how far it is from Maidstone, but I do have a car and am happy to travel! I have not found it easy to meet people around here (probably because I worked in London rather than locally), but my NCT group were actually really good (we met on the course and have stayed in touch) - did you try your local NCT?

Fio2 · 19/05/2004 09:12

I am in the Canterbury area too

MsPoppins · 19/05/2004 09:19

Sarochka - Hi, i am actually in Deal

Freckle · 19/05/2004 09:37

Lisa, both Harman and I are in Maidstone. Whereabouts do you live? I'm not far from the town centre.

Lisa2912 · 19/05/2004 12:23

Freckle, sorry about the delayed message - just been out to baby gym class . I'm also near the town centre. We live in Ringlestone (apparently a dodgy area!) and are down by the river just opposite the park which is lovely in weather like this. If you and/or Harman are up for meeting up that would be great. I can do evenings (with some notice to make sure DH is home) or we could go to the park during the day if the weather is nice (they have two playgrounds - one for smaller children and a larger adventure one). Let me know if you are interested!

LucyJones · 19/05/2004 15:14

Hi Fio2 - whereabouts do you live? Lisa its half an hour by car from Maidstone to Canterbury....

sarochka · 20/05/2004 22:53

Ms poppins. I do enjoy a jaunt over to Deal. We nearly bought a house there but for practical reasons came back to Dover to be closer to resident child minder, my mum.
Very nice place though. Baby gym is good there isn't it? Are your children young or older?
Everyone else...what about another attempted meet. Canterbury is a good place to meet up and there are more of us appearing from that direction too or Ashford? Is there a salsa class in Ashford does anyone know?

Freckle · 21/05/2004 13:35

Lisa, within reason, I can do daytime or evening. Daytime depends on my work (which is pretty flexible) and evenings depend on dh getting home. My children are all at school, so it doesn't matter which playground you want to use, although I don't think I'd fit on the babyswings

I'm on the other side of the river from you and Harman is on the other side of town.

Lisa2912 · 22/05/2004 10:35

Freckle, sounds like evenings might be best if your children are school age, and then you won't have to sit on the swings (unless you want to!!) I can do pretty much any evening and DH is reasonably flexible at the moment so if you let me have a couple of suggestions I am sure we can fit in. Probably weekdays are better for us than weekends as the next few are a little busy.... Hopefully Harman will be able to join us? anybody else interested in a night out in Maidstone? (It may not sound that great, but it's the company that counts)

Tessiebear · 22/05/2004 11:34

Sarochka (note the name change from Ms Poppins) Yes baby gym is very good. My DS2 (age 3) goes to the lunchtime session where they teach them and the mums sit upstairs and watch! My other DS1 is 6. How old are your kids???

sarochka · 23/05/2004 21:27

Tessie. My mum takes my dd age 2 and a bit on a Friday morning. I work full time so don't get to go often but shall probably go during half term. I only have the one at the moment. working on the other!! Are you from Deal originally?
Would enjoy a night out in Maidstone or Canterbury. Intrigued to meet some other msnetters.

Aero · 23/05/2004 23:08

Am totally new to this (3 days now and am addicted) and also live near Maidstone. Kids 6, 3 and 4mths.Would be good to meet other mums and kids locally. Can't believe I haven't come across this before. Have transport so can get around. Am watching this space and would love to have a 'night off' or to meet during the day. dd won't mind a morning off playgroup depending on what sort of time. Have to do the school run thing though around 3pm.

Lisa2912 · 24/05/2004 13:51

Hurrah, I think there might be enough momentum for another meetup in Maidstone - what about a weekday evening early in June? All those interested why not post preferred evenings and we can go from there...

Aero · 24/05/2004 15:17

dh works in city so a bit train dependent, but am pretty much free most evenings as long as he's home. Having said I live nr Maidstone, I don't visit it much (it's a parking and traffic thing), but that said, I could probably find my way around.

Freckle · 24/05/2004 16:46

Whereabouts are you, Aero? I'm in Maidstone.

LucyJones · 24/05/2004 16:55

I'm up for a night out in Canterbury - Maidstone would be a bit tricky I'm afraid

Tessiebear · 24/05/2004 17:05

Saro, Yup born and bred in Deal i am afraid!! I would arrange to meet you at Gym club in half term but i wont be able to go because DS1 (age 6) is too old. Yes, a meet up in Canterbury would be possible....
