is that the one on the river cd? (can't remember if it is that one or the one by the pond)

Uwila · 09/08/2006 15:28

I think if we go outside of London we are bound to get a lot of last minute cancellations from people who are travelling.

What about something like Zuma in Knightsbridge ? I personally love sushi, but it might be abit risky as I know some people are not big fans of it.

CountessDracula · 09/08/2006 15:29

the one on the river, near Barnes Bridge station

Not v central thoguh

stitch · 09/08/2006 15:32

custy, i had a fabulous time last year.
true the food wasnt fantastic, but the company more than made up for it.

whatever we decide, can we please have dancing as well.
include me in whatever it is we are doing.

foxinsocks · 09/08/2006 15:37

I can think of a few near Temple and a few near Holborn/Cov gdn but someone who works/lives there would prob need to check them out because it's years since I went to functions there

CountessDracula · 09/08/2006 15:47

I can think of lots of city ones but they are either closed or deserted on Saturday nights

crunchie · 09/08/2006 15:50

Last year was fab BTW, dancing is an important criteria

Tortington · 09/08/2006 15:58

am thinking a room with dj will probably be better

i like the idea of a pub function room actually

one big enough to hold a lot of us

buy our own drinks

  • stuff the eating bit - get a maccy d's on the way there

big pub room anyone - we could get the pub to organise a DJ

central to mainline sations in london for ease of travelling.

UCM - on a plate.

CD it doesn't matter if they are desserted cos - we want the place to ourselves anyway - non of that general public malarky - they only look at you funny when your shouit " oi countess dracula - its your round"

OP posts:
NomDePlume · 09/08/2006 16:01

It MUST be v close to mainline stations and cheap accomodation, although not in a total flea-pit

Uwila · 09/08/2006 16:01

I thought that too, custy. Stuff the public.

Orrr.... www.tugga.com/ I have never been any of the places I'm suggesting. Just browsing through www.zagat.com

I think I might have found a perfect venue One of the top DJ Bars in London (according to London Town website) here

I have called them and basically there would be no charge to rope of a private area for up to 80 people, there is a small snacks/tapas style menu with food from £5 - £10 (Anti-pasti sharing plate £10, £8.50 for Burger and chips in ciabatta etc). The DJ starts at around 9pm, there is no charge before 9pm to get in (after 9pm it is about £6) Waitress service to tables if we want prior to about 10pm when they get really busy. Wine starts at £14 a bottle, Beer is about £3.50 a pint and cocktails from £6. Happy hour until 7pm means cocktails for £4.50 if you start early.

Although drinks are not that cheap, there would be no issue about a deposit, or numbers (as long as there wasnb't 20 of us!!) We could pay as we go and so those on mineral water wouldn't have to cover those who drink loads etc.

What does everyone think??? Looks rather funky and is just behind Selfridges

Quick tip - pretend it's a birthday/hen night type do as well as Xmas. All get a 3 litre box iof wine and wrap up as a gift, leaving spout sticking discretely out. Buy 1st glass of wine. Top yourselves up the rest of the night from your boses

gomez · 09/08/2006 16:10

Ah Custy you were great last year and the only person nearly as drunk as I was!

I will be max 4 weeks post-natal mid-November so will not be making an arse of myself again this year, much to my disappointment (and everyone elses joy I am sure)!

Althought to be fair Novaandypandythingy made it last year about 10 minutes after giving birth and looking fab! (Although she didn't have to factor a squeezy-jet flight from Edinburgh in as well).

crunchie · 09/08/2006 16:11

I'm still looking, may have found one which does fish finger sandwiches Could we have found a home
