ledodgyrobespierre · 09/08/2006 13:09

Oh Feck it i'll just come to London.

ledodgyrobespierre · 09/08/2006 13:10

just seen it's in November, i'l be there unless it falls on 25th because my ds is one that day.

theflumpsmum · 09/08/2006 13:11

big meet ups sound fun..you can count me in.why not do two if its easier with the travelling thing.one in london as for the mums from the south its easy to get to and one in birmingham or manchester.perhaps they could both be arranged for the same night and if we all bring cameras with us we could perhaps set up a webpage where all pics and messages about the night could be displayed.
think a good idea would be to make a list of suitable places then email them and find the best deal.
im not far from london, and willing to help set it up if needed, just give me a yell

Gingerbear · 09/08/2006 13:21

And now for something completely different....

How about a Christmas dinner and disco £32.50 per head at........

Chester Zoo?????

UCM · 09/08/2006 13:23

I have 2 suggestions for venue. One is Callaghans bar behind the Regents Palace hotel (Picadilly Circus). I believe they do private parties. Another is the Tatershall Castle which is a massive boat moored just outside embankment tube, which I know for a fact has a couple of rooms with bars (different sizes). They are both outside tube stations and very easy to get to and I don't think will be that expensive

Custy if you have any idea how many will be coming I will contact them? I have already emailed the first one and said about 150.

Another thing I saw which looked interesting was hiring a boat to float up the Thames for the night. One included 3 course meal and was 59.00 per person which I know is pricey but it is another suggestion.

Christmas Parties at Chester Zoo
They are held in the Manor House - which is a lovely old building, only issue - they are held in Dec not Nov.

Lemmingswife · 09/08/2006 13:25

If I remember correctly, there was a Northern Christmas meet up last year, as well as the London one, wasn't there?

Gingerbear · 09/08/2006 13:33

yep, in Leeds - at a Toby Carvery in Morley - about 20 of us, but same issue as London one - separate tables and not much mingling going on.

Uwila · 09/08/2006 13:42

oooo is it already time to plane a Christmas do. I might come this year (if I'm allowed). November is good for me. Could do the weekend of Nov. 24th to help me get over being depressed about missing Thanksgiving in the states.

Gobblunarcharsky · 09/08/2006 13:43

I like Gingerbear's idea.

OOOOHHH CHESTER ZOO IS SOOOOOOO NEAR ME!

Oh go on, go on, go on, go on, go on......

Gobblunarcharsky · 09/08/2006 13:44

Gingerbear - we could do early dec no?

Gobblunarcharsky · 09/08/2006 13:45

Although, despite my protest lower down the thread, I too would travel to the London one and I'm sure I could drag Jools along.

Uwila · 09/08/2006 13:46

Where does NOBODY live? Could we have the meetup in her hometown?

Carmenere · 09/08/2006 13:47

Hey we could have a raffle to raise money for the MN legal fund. We could even hand in the free speech petition on our way to the venue!

fluttergandhibee · 09/08/2006 13:48

Please please please don't do it on the 11th November as this is ds's first birthday please please please

Tortington · 09/08/2006 13:48

UCM - if you would kindly help me on this i will eat your arse - no only joking ...ha haaa i'm so funny.....

erm...right

this is how it will work

there will be a list of 90 mumsnetters - 30 will drop out
10 will frop out the night before
10 will just not turn up
10 will give prior notice - so you THINK 80 are coming

i would book for 60 - but book a place which can accomodate more.

i know you think at this moment in time i am full of shit

but if at least a third dont drop out
i'll eat my own arse

Gobblunarcharsky · 09/08/2006 13:49

Yes, do it on the 11th and then I, once again, avoid my neices b'day party which is one of thsoe awful ones wehre all extended family go and sit round the room on dining room chairs watching her open piles of plastic crap while eating sausage rolls and drinking snowballs.

Gag!
