Well done crunchie!

My only reservation is that those places get SO loud we may not be able to hear ourselves speak - do they have a chill out room or whatever they are called these days?

Up for this depending on dates etc.

I've been to Ruby Lo before and it was brilliant. It was a Friday night, great music (80's dance-y soul stuff, Madchester, funky etc)

The only thing I can't advise on is the food. I'd say it's more for drinking and dancing than eating but some nibbles are better than nothing.

CountessDracula · 09/08/2006 16:30

Ruby? Ironic?

thewomanwhothoughtshewasahat · 09/08/2006 16:34

defintiely up for it. and custy - don;t be so hard on yourself - last year was fine. I agree that this is a good idea though. But I just might have some reservations about decibels. nothing worse than sitting in a circle smiling and nodding your head in time to music cos it's too loud to talk. And Gomez - congratulations - didn;t even know you were pg!

BTW the Saturdays in November are 11th or 18th, not the 15th!!

The other option is a place called The Social in Portland Street. the Social It looks great, they do pie and mash at £7 etc. However they cannot gaurentee a private bar (eg upstairs) unless we have a minimum spend for the night of over £2000. I suggested that if there were 75 people we could do £10 on food (pies all round and nibbles to keep it simple) but they didn't sound that keen. However it is less 'done' than Ruby's and probably better food.

But if we are meeting at 8pm we can grab a snack prior to getting there (there are loads of places nearby if groups are coming from afar) so we don't need to rely too much on the food there.

Please decide on a date as I am strying to get a date for DH's 40th which is the 18th, so if we can do the 11th I would love it!!

NomDePlume · 09/08/2006 16:37

oi gobblychops, check yer email....

thewomanwhothoughtshewasahat · 09/08/2006 16:38

hmmmmm - just noticed something's gone wrong with the cut and paste and add your name - there are people on mine thta aren't on magic genie's

Gobblunarcharsky · 09/08/2006 16:41

I prefer Rhubys - I'm a sophisticated gal you know!

Gobblunarcharsky · 09/08/2006 16:42

Have replied NDP

crunchie · 09/08/2006 16:44

I can also suggest the Regent Palace hotel for those coming from afar who want CHEAP accommadtion. It is v cheap BUT V noisy at 5am when teh dustmen come around!! It is about £40 - £50 a double room and about 10 - 15 mins walk from Rubys.

This year I am NOT booking accomodation, but I am happy to recommend this hotel (Well it is a dump, but a cheap dump!!) Obviously if you want to splash out I am sure the Selfridges hotel would be happy to accommadate at about £150 a room

Gobblunarcharsky · 09/08/2006 16:45

Are there not Travelodge type places in central London anyway?

Oh, Jool, we could crash with Lucy??
