or rent a restaurant and get them to do food (not sitty downy)

Often no hire charge

nuckingfutjob · 08/08/2006 23:19

Custy, spoken like a true brilliant person as always.

I have no idea where to suggest. But I'd like to come (I think - I was pg last year and I'm just fat this year!).

(HM with a namechange to reflect the madness of the site atm)

VladimirllichLeninQV · 08/08/2006 23:20

Custy - i think i love you

Will google tomorrow at work hun, but tehre are one or two places that ring a bell, the Strand hotel i think does something like this.

I mostly know of more "corporate" orientated places, but if they are guaranteed a HUGE bar bill then I'm pretty sure they will accommodate

I am most definitely IN!!!!

CountessPanina · 08/08/2006 23:22

this looks good but not a big salsa fan

VladimirllichLeninQV · 08/08/2006 23:22

I think if we find somewhere that asks for payment per head for nibbles etc, then we should be able to sort that between us surely?

I have a paypal account so would be quite happy to sort the financial side out - save custy an absolute nightmare......?

I wouldnt imagine it will be a huge amount.

That, or we can have the huge meet, and those that wish to have dinner somewhere beforehand can make their own arrangements?

CountessPanina · 08/08/2006 23:23

gets good reviews here

CountessPanina · 08/08/2006 23:25

I could recce on way home from work I come via Waterloo

nuckingfutjob · 08/08/2006 23:30

Tortington · 09/08/2006 00:23

GrinaFraud · 09/08/2006 00:33

agree with what u are saying custy but the last big meet was london. manchester, birmingham and even newcastle have airports and train stations that can be got to easily from all over the country (and world) something central would be fairer all round imo. have a go if you want but london isn't the only place that can be got to easily

Carmenere · 09/08/2006 11:19

Yes mom but Custys point was that anyone is free to organise a big meet up anywhere they want to and the London one is open to anyone who want's to come.

Nemo1977 · 09/08/2006 11:21

also agree big meets are in london so northeners have to pay fortune to get there, stay night and get back. saying that prob cant go again as am pg agazin...lol

Carmenere · 09/08/2006 11:22

So why don't northeners organise a big meet up that southeners have to pay a fortune to get to?

OwainGlyndwr · 09/08/2006 11:44

Ill be there, and I live in Wales

Tortington · 09/08/2006 11:44

you are free to organise one in the outer hebrides if you would like.

i am a northerner living in the south - i have been to meets in manchester, london and brighton.

i am not averse to travelling and if one were arranged in manchester i would seriously consider coming along.

i look forward to seeing other xmas arrangements in other parts of the country.

and if yu get more than 30 mumsnetters turning up to one in manchester or anywhere outside london - i will eat my own arse.

OP posts:
CountessDracula · 09/08/2006 11:48

come on northerners get it together i want to see custy chomping on her arse cheeks

Bugsy2 · 09/08/2006 12:20

What about the Victoria Park Plaza Hotel? It might be a bit pricey. I wonder if there are any church halls, where there could be some kind of bring your own thing.

CountessDracula · 09/08/2006 12:21

hotels can be so depressing

We need somewhere fun!

ledodgyrobespierre · 09/08/2006 12:34

Ok then should I arrange another big meet in Birmingham then? I don't live in B'ham but i'm sure some b'ham mn'ers could help me. Northerners and southerners are both welcome to come. If I get more people turning up than Custy (not bloody likely) do I win a prize and get to see Custy eating her own arse? Let me know who'd be interested if I did this.

prettybird · 09/08/2006 13:01

As a Scot, who is seriously thinking about trying to go to a Christmas metup, Birmingham would actually be more expensive for me to get to. Much as I hate to admit it, Easyjet etc make it more cost effective for me to get to London (espically with plenty of notice) than other places.

And I agree with Custy that it is not an exclusive event - if anyone wants to organise an event in another location, then they are free to do so.

Do think that espically if peole are coming any distance that at least the facility to get food should be factored in - but can understadn Custy's reluctance to do so formally.

OwainGlyndwr · 09/08/2006 13:02

bugger the food pass me the vodka
