Oh I thought it would be one that actually went down the river

Gobblunarcharsky · 09/08/2006 13:55

Ahah, custy, that's the one I've been on! Was OK if I remember correcctly but was about 10 years ago! IT doesn't move, it just sits there.

UCM · 09/08/2006 13:58

OK I rang them. The boat is

here

The venue is the nightclub and is 600.00 for evening 5pm til 2am. Price includes DJ barstaff & security.

Drawback is they only rent it out Mon - Thurs night.

UCM · 09/08/2006 13:59

Custy, d'you want my arse on a plate or in a cornet?

fluttergandhibee · 09/08/2006 14:00

boat

fluttergandhibee · 09/08/2006 14:02

another boat

Uwila · 09/08/2006 14:06

What if people can only come for part of the night. Can you get on/off the boat mid cruise?

Gingerbear · 09/08/2006 14:09

Wot about the zoo idea? Think that went down like a lead balloon.
London Zoo and Whipsnade do similar y'know.

UCM · 09/08/2006 14:10

Can I just say that I phoned this one and they can do the 18th

here

But they want 2500 for the big venue (includes buffet) and 1750 for the upper deck. Wow, thats loadsa money.

As you can tell I am a bit bored this afternoon.

Gingerbear · 09/08/2006 14:13

2500 = £41/head if 60 people go.

SherlockLGJ · 09/08/2006 14:16

I am in.

UCM · 09/08/2006 14:16

Gingerbear, when you put it like that snot so bad and you do get sausage rolls

UCM · 09/08/2006 14:21

here

Well Custy waddya reckon boats or dry land?

Gingerbear · 09/08/2006 14:21

prices to hire function rooms at London zoo
@cocktail party in an animal house!

UCM · 09/08/2006 14:25

That sounds great GB

crunchie · 09/08/2006 14:44

Personally having been to last years party I would suggest somewhere that people can get off mid party if necessary. Also an empty 'venue' which then needs loads of organisation is tricky. I would suggest looking for a venue where we can rope off a section for a MN party but that there is no 'venue hire' charge and where there is food and drink but people can buy whatever they want on the night. Lastly somewhere that has music perhaps later for a good boogie. I looked at Pitche & Piano as they has no venue hire chrages but provide table service to large groups, the only thing missing is the DJ.

There must be a trendy(ish) bar in london where we can get a section roped off without charge, but that we can order food and drinks as we want and has a DJ. I remember all the hassle of pre-ordering food, paying by cheque etc. I think it would be worth looking for a place like this as otherwise the hassle would be unbelievable for someone.

If it is the 18th I cannot go as I am organising a 40th B'Day party for DH that day

CountessDracula · 09/08/2006 15:00

quite crunchie

I have been looking for just that, it is hard

Shish in Old Street does it but no dancing, food is great

CountessDracula · 09/08/2006 15:01

The tattershall castle used to be a right dump. They may have done it up since I guess

UCM · 09/08/2006 15:13

The very first bar I mentioned Callaghans, rope bits off for private parties. It's on the bottom floor of the Regents palace hotel which is about 45 quid a night for any overnight stayers and is bang outside Picadilly Circus tube. I think most pubs do in central London. There is Tiger Tiger on Haymarket who do this as well but it's noisy

CountessDracula · 09/08/2006 15:15

does it have dancing tho?

Rhubarb · 09/08/2006 15:20

Count me in this!

Uwila · 09/08/2006 15:22

Are you going to dance for us, CD?

foxinsocks · 09/08/2006 15:23

went to a fab cocktail thing at K west (in shep bush) the other day but I'm not sure how expensive it is

might be cheaper to use a room in a pub - quite a few in London have upstairs rooms that they hire out - I can only recommend ones that are W or SW of London (though did go to one in Hackney near Victoria Park which had its own upstairs room with its own bar, v handy I thought!)

CountessDracula · 09/08/2006 15:24

The White Hart in Barnes has a function room with a disco ball that they hire out for £100 anight I think. They could prob arrange the disco and food too

it's a bit grannyish though
but lovely views

UCM · 09/08/2006 15:27

Tiger Tiger definitely, the other I am not sure.
