Been here 7yrs now have 2 ds's 2yrs and 6months and am married to a pom so looks like I'm here for the long run! The closest I get to an aussie now is watching neighbours (I know its quite pathetic). Anyway if there are any others who fancy a catch up, I'm in west london?

quokka · 04/08/2006 10:37

Hi quokka

I thought you might have more replies to your thread than this as I thought there's be loads of Aussies in London.

I don't live near you - am in Surrey, but I'm a kind of honorary Aussie as I was born and spent the first three years of my life there. For some reason, my parents decided to leave Melbourne and come and live here. Good thing was that I got an Oz passport out of it!

I finally got the chance to spend 6 weeks there 9 years ago and loved it. I didn't want to come back home, but had to because of responsibilities. Lucky I did really as I'm now happily married and have a daughter of 2. It's not so bad in good old Blight really.

Do tell me what a quokka is??

quokka · 04/08/2006 11:41

I thought there would be loads of aussie mums in London as well [shocked]. A quokka is a animal only found on a small island off the coast of western australia. It's a bit like a really small kangaroo, but really tame, so chance of this boxing you! I will try and send a link.

Awwwwww - they look cute.

Whereabouts in West London do you live?

quokka · 04/08/2006 12:17

Just by Gunnersbury park, round the corner from chiswick. I love Melbourne, lived there for 3yrs, fantstic food, and I miss the old rackety trams!

there's got to be more of us in london!

OP posts:
cori · 04/08/2006 13:16

not far really, right side of London anyway. Kew sounds great. I am going to centreparcs next week, and then hopefully off on holiday the following week. (desperately trying to organise DS 2 passport). SO perhaps september would be better.
There are a couple of other aussie mums on here, not many though. I will have a search. Maybe we could CAT them if I can find them.

quokka · 04/08/2006 13:35

Sept sounds good cori hopefully by then we can round up some more . Might do another thread to appeal for other mums who know aussie mums. Maybe they don't know about munsnet?
