Been here 7yrs now have 2 ds's 2yrs and 6months and am married to a pom so looks like I'm here for the long run! The closest I get to an aussie now is watching neighbours (I know its quite pathetic). Anyway if there are any others who fancy a catch up, I'm in west london?

Hey where have sydsnow, palmwoods, aussiegirl and tamara gone. Hope I haven't scared them away with the meetup?

Kaybee would love to move back home but I think my dh is too close to his parents. His sister died a few years ago, so hes an only child now .

Haven't been to nz yet but would love to go one day. . How did you convince dh to move?

I was wondering where the others had gone too!!???

I took my DH there for a holiday a couple of years ago before we were married and he just really liked it & could see the advantages of living there I guess. We got married there too at the beginning of the year. Luckily his parents are pretty good about travelling etc so will come and visit often. It's my Mum that won't travel so that's a reason I feel like we should go back..

SydSnow · 01/09/2006 14:06

I found it!!
Lost you guys for a while there, but Quokka found me on another thread, so I'm back!!

SydSnow · 01/09/2006 14:09

Kaybee,
Re not getting paid Mat Leave. Did you know that as you have been working and, therfore, paying tax, you are entitled to Maternity Allowance even if you don't qualify for Sat Mat Pay!
I just got made redundant, so I'm in the same boat, so was v glad when I found the brochure on Mat Allowance!!

quokka · 01/09/2006 14:15

what a shame about redundancy! Whats your profession and do you think you'll find something else? Better than oz anyway, I don't thnk you get anything there . Did your employer know that you were preggers?

hey sydsnow just saw you on another thread, I lived in Point Piper, Paddo, and Bondi!

OP posts:
SydSnow · 01/09/2006 14:19

It's actually not as bad as it sounds. I work in corporate gifts but was hating my job anyway, so am actually really relieved!
They didn't know I was pregnant - lovely people really, so def no malice involved, just cost cutting.
I will prob get some temp work or something for the next few months - will see how that goes.
Looking forward to afternoon naps in the mean time!

SydSnow · 01/09/2006 14:19

Are you following me!

quokka · 01/09/2006 14:23

promise I'm not a stalker just keep bumping into you!

Ok dates for meetup how is everyone for the 30th sept?

OP posts:
Kaybee7777 · 02/09/2006 10:47

SydSnow - I haven't looked into any maternity allowance or anything, because of my visa status. I am only on a spouse visa so it says I am not entitled to any public funds!

Re meetup, 30th sounds ok to me Quokka

quokka · 03/09/2006 11:47

Ok I had a really embarrassing experience yesterday. Went to boots to get some bits and bobs including condoms. Well they're having a deal buy two packets get one free so thought might as well! Got to checkout and plonked them on the counter with sudocreme (for ds nappy rash) and some baby bath. The guy looked at the 3 packets of condoms then at me with a look of surprise then the lady behind me started laughing! After he had scanned them he looked at me again and said "oh three for the price of two!"

I left feeling like some kind of sex crazed addict! Who here would have bought 3 , or would you have stuck to 1 packet?

OP posts:
Kaybee7777 · 03/09/2006 12:37

Hahaha how embarrassing.... Though why not take advantage of the 3 for 2, it was a bit rude of the shop assistant AND person behind you to laugh. I think if I did that I would have to disguise the purchase with extra items like shampoo or tissues so no one noticed

quokka · 04/09/2006 11:59

I bought the 3 for 2 as not quite ready for number 3 yet !

Kaybee will be going to Kew on Wed if you want to join me?

OP posts:
Kaybee7777 · 04/09/2006 18:22

What time are you going? Just found out I can get a train from Stratford to Kew Gardens which isn't bad as Stratford is only a few tube stops away from me...

quokka · 04/09/2006 19:41

Well I was going to hang out for most of the day, maybe get there for 10ish? Its actually my birthday and just feel like chilling out and eating cake (they do really nice cakes)!

Don't worry I don't accept pressies. There might be a couple of other mums also, but nothing full on. So you can turn up whenever you like, I can meet you at Victoria Gate (thats the one closest to the station) I have free passes so please don't pay.

OP posts:
Kaybee7777 · 05/09/2006 10:15

Sounds cool The bump and I LOVE cake !
Not sure if I could get there for 10, probably be more like 11 for me ( as the train takes an hour!)

quokka · 05/09/2006 10:37

thought you might like cake . Just turn up whenever, theres no rush. I will cat you my mobile number so you can give me a call when you get into the station.

OP posts:
Kaybee7777 · 05/09/2006 13:18

Great. Are you sure you don't mind me using one of your free passes?
I am not signed up for CAT, will you still be able to contact me??

quokka · 05/09/2006 13:36

I have loads of free passes so don't worry. Try and cat me, see if it works without paying the fiver.
