MrsJohnCusack · 01/08/2006 19:57

ooh if only
am going to be Billy-no-mates out there and at this rate without DH for a bit as well as residency app is going to take about 3 times longer than we though

Uwila · 01/08/2006 20:43

So, what I want to know is this....

Are CD and Sophable coming????

suejonez · 01/08/2006 21:15

OOOh - is this some kind of guessing game? I'll put £5 on yes and no...

MrsBigD · 02/08/2006 07:03

MrsJC where in NZ? dh is from around Hastings/Napier and Wellington ways and still knows people

Ok so who's keeping the betting log?

OP posts:
fisil · 02/08/2006 07:34

Can I come out to play too?

I know CountessDrac, and I will bring my wooden cross and garlic, so we should all be OK.

Uwila · 02/08/2006 07:40

Oh yes. Please do come Fisil. It would be nice to see you.

fisil · 02/08/2006 07:40

Yes - it will be good to share notes about the May '05 model!

MrsJohnCusack · 02/08/2006 08:40

to Christchurch MrsBigD - so the 'other' island!
I do know a few people there (and have family there) so I won't be totally lost - just having last minute hysterics about the whole thing

MrsRecycle · 02/08/2006 08:58

Ooh my ears were burning - hi everyone! I've been busy trying to sort out all the baby stuff and sleeping loads! Sorry Sue but won't be able to make 31st (and I luuuv chilli) as will be at the caravan. Talking of which, I'm off down there tomorrow until the 18th so won't be able to access Mumsnet.

Uwila · 02/08/2006 09:01

Fisil, i can't remember where you live. Are you near Kew?

CountessDracula · 02/08/2006 19:36

sorry sorry no not scared off, I have been away for dh's 40th having a very glam time, I need some chili to bring me back down to earth, culinarily speaking.

31 Aug sounds great

I can bring a pud if you like

Uwila · 02/08/2006 20:43

Oooo where'd you go?

Good idea on the pud. We should probably start a list of who's bringing what?

Sue, I guess you are doing the chili. Shal we divy up the rest?

Nanou, don't forget your brown gin!

suejonez · 02/08/2006 23:06

"I need some chili to bring me back down to earth" - damn cheek! I'll have you know my chili is heavenly. They BEGGED me to let them put it on the menu at the Glasshouse but I held out - will go to my grave with the secret family recipe.

Heathcliffscathy · 02/08/2006 23:36

errr. i'll come. i'll bring whatever anyone wants me to. mostly booze.

is it really ok?

Uwila · 03/08/2006 07:37

Ok, let's recap.

Sophable
Fisil
CountessDracula
MrsBigD
MrsJohnCusack
Nanou1
Uwila
Suejonez
Oremstango (if timing allows )

Did I miss anyone?

I'll probably be coming straight from work. So I need to bring something non-perishable.

I could do chips/crisps and dip... and a bottle of booze.

MrsBigD · 03/08/2006 09:31

I'll cat some of the other 'Ealingites' to see whether they deign to join 'us' again after long absence

I can do guacamole if anybody likes it, it's a sure fire food to keep Dracula's descendents at bay as I use heaps of onion AND garlic

OP posts:
CountessDracula · 03/08/2006 09:50

This vampire loves garlic!

I have been here and very nice it was too

Where do you live suejonez?

MrsBigD · 03/08/2006 09:54

oh very nice place

OP posts:
MrsJohnCusack · 03/08/2006 10:15

any other people tedious vegetarians like me?
I can bring veggie chilli so you don't need to be put out by me!

Uwila · 03/08/2006 10:29

Definately not a veggie. Wouldn't dream of it. (but I might pinch some of your veggie chili if it more more interesting than boring old kidney beans )

YanksUponThames · 03/08/2006 11:34

Well, @#$%&!!....I do wish I could come for the ChiliFest. Some mates of mine from school used to do a major one every summer for a number of years, and it was a lot of fun.
And I could've brought corn muffins, too (which aren't exactly rocket science).

But maybe some other time. After we move I'll have a kitchen that I can actually swing a cat in, and might be able to host a feed&piss-up myself. And space nearby for people to park in, that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

fisil · 03/08/2006 13:03

We went there when ds1 was born CD. It was wonderful and I really really want to go again. Won't be long until dp is 40, and I'll tell him it is mandatory.

YanksUponThames · 03/08/2006 19:31

(hmmm, yess, Nanou's brown gin. On further review, I've been wondering, given the noise and the English-as-a-second-language issues that were apparently involved, about the curious substance that Nanou recieved last Thursday. One idea that occurs: maybe the girl heard "G&T" as ...uhhh, maybe "Jim Beam"?? Dunno, but I did think at the time that the Curious Substance looked rather like bourbon&water on ice more than anything else. Had I been on the other end of the table, and swift enough, I would have (hung out more with uwila since it's about time I did that), and b) swigged the Curious Substance in an attempt to identify. If it was bourbon I think I would have figured it out...

suejonez · 03/08/2006 23:59

I'm disappointed Yanks that you didn't lurch across the table to snaffle the mystery liquid if you even had an inkling of what it was. there was such a long silence when she first brought it, I really thought we were all going to politely sit there and let Nanou drink it, until I remembered that the excruciatingly polite English were in a definite minority

Are we the only nation that apologises when someone steps on our toes?
