suejonez · 12/08/2006 10:50

Can we have a roll call of everyone who definitely coming on 31 August and those who may come.

Then I'll send out instructions and directions...

MrsJohnCusack · 12/08/2006 12:31

I am DEFINTELY coming
'twill be a disgusting hell hole here no doubt and I will be raring to get out

have just realised that as of then will have no PC and no telly
yes will definitely need to get out of the house

Uwila · 12/08/2006 13:36

I'm coming. Though it isn't a chili cookoff since no one else is cooking any chili. Oh, and do we need to sort out whose bringing what. I think we started to, but not sure it got very far. At the very least, I believe everyone is committed to bringing some kind of booze/beverage.

suejonez · 12/08/2006 16:17

Let allocate responsibilites once we know who's coming.

And I shall be having a cook off against myself - veggie chili vs meat!

fatfox · 12/08/2006 20:11

Suejonez

Thanks for the invitation, I'd love to come and meet you all, specially as its so close. My MS should have subsided by then. I just cooked some M&S smoked haddock pies and had to run out the kitchen because the smell made me gag.

Can I bring a deliciously fattening pudding? errrr, it may not be home made.

MrsBigD · 13/08/2006 09:55

welcome to the ´clique´ fatfox

SJ I´ll be there on 31st! I do a wicked guacamole if I can find avocados that aren´t fit to kill birds with

Hmmm - may become a bring a chiar party rather than bring a bottle!

suejonez · 14/08/2006 10:06

Ok I'll work on 9-12 people and think about what we'll need later in the week.

Uwila · 14/08/2006 10:14

Should we reconsider the venue? Don't want to swarm you with unruly mumsnetters.

I'd be just as happy at a restaurant. Although I'm sure your chili is much better than anything on a commercial menu.

BigKat · 14/08/2006 10:51

Hi all - I am a newbie here- just found this site today- so if I am posting in the wrong place, let me know.
I am moving back to Twickenham from Dubai in September- mixed feelings about that, but there are so many things from London that I miss. Would be interested in any September onwards get togethers. Have DS age 22 months- have been in Dubai since he was 2 months.

suejonez · 14/08/2006 10:57

I wouldn't worry - if there ends up too many to squeeze around the kitchen table, we can have a running chili buffet and can spread out into the living room too. And I know Americans like eating outside, so there's always the garden...

(only kidding about the chairs - I have enough folding chairs to sit everyone!)

suejonez · 14/08/2006 11:01

Hi BigKat - here's as good as anywhere I guess!

I've only been to two meet-ups but they seem to gravitate around Richmond/Ealing. Which side of Twickenham are you moving back to, where you here before you went off to sunnier climes?

This group seems to meet pretty regularly - seems to be about once a month.

Uwila · 14/08/2006 11:11

Hiya Bigkat, and WELCOME! This started as an Ealing thread. But since I work in Brentford, I decided to crash it about 6 months ago. And now they can't get rid of me. I live in Sunbury, have two kids DD aged 3 and DS aged 1. We go to church in Twickenham. DD starts nursery there in October. So, the plan is she'll start reception there next year.

You can tell us all about Dubai. I've never been. But, I here it's very nice.

suejonez · 14/08/2006 11:20

PS Uwila - no black beans in Sainsburys - sorry, red beans it is...

BigKat · 14/08/2006 11:34

I worked in Brentford, next to Gunnersbury Park, until I was 8 months PG.
We will be living between Twickenham town centre and Teddington when we get back- Popes Grove area. We have lived there for 8 years, so it is all familiar, but I haven't really lived there as a mum, so would be keen to meet some new pals.
Dubai is a good place to live- but you can' t beat home !!! Loads of construction going on here at the moment- will be interesting to pop back and see it, when it is finished. The tallest building in the world is slowly going up across the road from where we live. Currently the temp is around 47 C- never visit here in summer.

Uwila · 14/08/2006 11:43

I work next to Gunnersbury Park. On the Great West Road / M4. Are you close to Twickenham Green then? If so, Holy Trinity runs some toddler groups.

Uwila · 14/08/2006 11:44

Fine fine. I can live with Kidney beans. But, your Sainsbury needs a good shake up in the sticking purchasing/department.

BigKat · 14/08/2006 11:55

Uwila- I worked in Park View- it was a new glass fronted trendy looking building, close to the roundabout. I was working on an oil and gas project-DH is in the same game- that is why we are here in Dubai.
I am very close to Twickenham Green, so will check out the playgroups. Thanks for that..

Uwila · 14/08/2006 12:02

Oh, bloody hell. What a small world. I'm typing from the 3rd floor of Parkview, where I work for an American E&C.
