Scottish Picnic: Summer 2006

Picking up on Gomez' suggestion, maybe it would be nice to organise a Scottish Picnic somewhere.

Not sure about where or when - maybe McMudda, who lives near Loch Lomond or some of the Stirling/Perth people could suggest somewhere.

Do we want it during the school holidays - when people might be away on holiday, or a weekend in June, before the holidays start?

Would also suggest that we have it somewhere where an "inside" version is also an option, given the vagaries of the Scottish weather!

Do we want it with partners or not? If it is picnic and the little ones would be running around, it might be useful to have extra pairs of hands! Grin

I'm in Pollokshields.

I was planning on driving too - not sure if dh will want to come to (actually, that reminds me - we need to decide whether dh's are invited too - they could be useful to keep an eye out on the kids! )

... so I may take you up on your invite!

can't imagine my dp coming - think he is a bit scared of MN . Would be more than happy to meet other dp/hs though.

schneebly · 03/07/2006 13:49

I can't make it but just bumping for you guys!

Twiga · 03/07/2006 16:32

My dh would be happy to come but if it works out that we stay with tassis before hand not essential as he'll have some company if dh/dp's not invited. Looking fwd to this meet-up and we'll be on time this time honest!

Just to a bump to say we are no going for a picnic on Sunday 13th August, in the Stirling Uni grounds (with the back-up of the MacRobert centre if the weather is grotty).

Who else is interested?

I am interested but not sure if I can stomach it on public transport with baby and toddler. Any idea what time of day it might be~?

prettybird · 06/07/2006 09:47

Spots - it's a picnic lunch, so probably about midday. Where would you be coming from - maybe someone can give you a lift? ... or at least come and pick you up from Stirling bus/train station?

chapsmum · 06/07/2006 09:48

me, me, me!!! can I come to???
I missed the last one and I love picnics!

mawbroon · 06/07/2006 10:31

I might come too. I'll have to see what DH thinks. He seems to finally be coming round to MN and even sometimes reads it if I have left a page open on the pc .

I'll get back to you.

harrisey · 07/07/2006 11:48

Maybe make the next one as I am on the mainland now

Hi to Ja9, by the way.
I also live in Stirling. The uni grounds and the McBob are fab.
Could I please come on August 13th?
Gomez - lol at James Blunt at Stirling castle. I shut all the windows; couldn't be arsed listening to him 2 nights in a row!

gomez · 08/07/2006 07:54

Looks like we could be a real wee gang this time then - yipee!

Spub - JB was so boring, honestly I am so pleased I didn't pay for tickets!

Unless my shifts get buggered about with, if Toothache needs a lift, I might be able to help.

I promise I'm not some hairy trucker.

(Not to self, must shave hairy tucker legs before the 13th August, ug, ug.)

prettybird · 11/07/2006 13:41

That would be good gsrcym. Hopefully Toothache will see your offer.

Note to self: must wax my hairy trucker legs before the weekend, when we are off to Greece for a week!

prettybird · 13/07/2006 10:14

Never mind gettingthere - there will be a "next time"!

That was alawys the risk with having it during the school holidays - that some of us would be away.
