Scottish Picnic: Summer 2006

Picking up on Gomez' suggestion, maybe it would be nice to organise a Scottish Picnic somewhere.

Not sure about where or when - maybe McMudda, who lives near Loch Lomond or some of the Stirling/Perth people could suggest somewhere.

Do we want it during the school holidays - when people might be away on holiday, or a weekend in June, before the holidays start?

Would also suggest that we have it somewhere where an "inside" version is also an option, given the vagaries of the Scottish weather!

Do we want it with partners or not? If it is picnic and the little ones would be running around, it might be useful to have extra pairs of hands! Grin

Holidays or not, I work fulltime so can only make a weekend.

CAN WE JUST GET A DATE????? Anyone feel assertive enough to say THIS is when its happening.... come along if you can?

gomez · 27/06/2006 22:18

Christ woman I am not that brave or stupid...

What about 22nd July?

prettybird · 27/06/2006 22:19

OK then, Sunday August 13th. Who can make it?

Lilliput - I know weekends are not good for you, but there are quite a few "Working Outside the Home" Mums, for whom even in the summer, the weekends are the only option.

Not me but I don't mind - I am having a girlie weekend on that date! My friend runs a youth hostel near Reading and we are going down there to cause havoc - maybe I could stop by on the way back - will be returning that day

gomez · 27/06/2006 22:23

Over-ruled at the first opportunity!

13th August fine by me.

gomez · 27/06/2006 22:32

Right I am bored of James Blunt gig I am listening into for free - and it has got too chilly to have the windows open any longer so I am off to bed.

I trust Toothy & Prettybird will have all organised tonight and I will log-on to get my joining instructions tomorrow!

[Toothy - take care love and I hope the rest of this week passes without any incident.]

prettybird · 27/06/2006 22:36

...gomez - sorry , posts corssed. The only reason I didn't suggest 22nd July, was that I might be away then.

Had been hpoing to get away the middle week of July, but I've lost my passport and the earliest I can get an appointment at the Passport Office is next Thrusday and then it will still take another week to issue the passport (same day service is not avaialalbe for lost passports - which seems a bit strange!), so I've had to delay my plans a week.

Why don't wee see who can make either date?

Right Sunday 13th of August it is!!

lol @ Gomez!

Princes Square, Glasgow? or
Stirling Uni?

prettybird · 27/06/2006 22:50

Picnic somewhere, so the kids can run around but with back-up in case it rains.

Stirling Uni seemed to fit the criteria - how about trying again?

Grrrrand! 1pm?

gomez · 28/06/2006 11:13

Sorted then 1pm on the 13th August at the McBob!

Eulalia · 28/06/2006 11:32

13th is fine by me. It's my birthday on the 15th so an excuse to celebrate The McBob - is that a nickname for Stirling Uni?!

Lilliput · 28/06/2006 21:35

no can do, visitation from MIL so maybe next time.

Toothache · 28/06/2006 21:48

Eulalia - The theatre at Stirling Uni is called the MacRobert Centre.... hence MacBob!

gscrym · 29/06/2006 13:00

Amazingly, at the moment, I'm off that weekend so me and DS would love to come.

Twiga · 29/06/2006 18:07

We're free and can make it - thanks to those brave enough to be bossy and re-arrange this !

prettybird · 30/06/2006 17:49

Sorry about that Liliput. There's always next time!

prettybird · 03/07/2006 10:25

Of course you can Vitomum!

really prettybird! i am in giffnock (boring suburbia). ds goes to nursery down in battlefield. How will you get to stirling? i will probably drive and will have room for another adult and child if you need a lift.
