Meet-ups

When meeting up take sensible precautions. Meet in a public place and let others know where you are going.

In Reverance to QueenVic who needs some cheering up!

I thought last night that it would be nice for us to meet up again soon, a lunch time ish meet with the kids (less organisation required that way!), or if you are lucky enough to be kid free for the day come along anyway! Maybe to see some of the lovely xmas lights around central London. Maybe if JL does have an ad hoc santa to see him too! I went to one of the Giraffe cafe/bars a few weeks ago, which I thought might be a good place to go? Not crowded, not overpowering music, smoke free for the kis, good reasonably priced food and very child friendly. Am open to oher ideas though!

So does anyone have any dates they can/can't do? I really enjoyed our meet up at the weekend and QueenVic is having a bit of a hard time of it at the moment and needs some cheering. Hopefully we will be able to help out and all have a good giggle at the same time.

OhLittleBitShyOfBethlehem · 10/12/2005 16:05

dd is begging to go to zoo again. we took out a year's membership to London Zoological Society, and she's loving going. Not been for a couple 0f months. Promised her after Xmas.....

OhLittleBitShyOfBethlehem · 10/12/2005 16:14

Well Pauls don't do bookings. If it is small inside and most of us turn up it probably isn't worth the grief, as lovely as the food does look. They do have highchairs though . Hunker how will you be getting in now with DS? Can you get DH to drop you (although bloody congestion charge!). We were, originally, meeting at covent garden so Hunker being very pregnant could get off the tube with relative ease with a buggy. I don't mind meeting wherever if it is better for somewhere to go. It might be better to get somewhere and stay somewhere so that everyone knows where we are. If noone else comes up with a plan, I will ring and book pizza hut this evening and be done with it!

AwayInAMunker · 10/12/2005 16:29

DH and I getting Tube in with DS in lightweight Maclaren buggy, so no probs with getting anywhere. British Museum good for us as initial meeting place, but largely because DH can wander off to look at Egyptian things and not have to sit with MNers (who he's secretly scared of ).

But easy otherwise - Covent Garden just as easy for us if that's good for everyone else. I suppose the bonus of a museum is that there's a lot of space in them and they're likely to be quieter because people will be Christmas shopping (fingers crossed!).

kleist · 10/12/2005 18:36

My first choice would be British Museum. But I'd be happy to tag along to a pizza hut meeting too, so long as it's ok for dd and I to just have a dessert and drink.

hub2dee · 10/12/2005 18:51

Is Gentlemanhunker coming then, sneaky ?

I'm easy: anywhere - but as am unsure of coming, my vote should hold little sway.

AwayInAMunker · 10/12/2005 18:55

Can't really meet at Pizza Hut at 10.30am - not and stay for several hours!

British Museum gets my vote too now, simply because it's en route to the zoo for us and there's stuff for GentlemanHunker to do - but not if it arses up plans for others iyswim.

as i'll be childless I can help with any general carrying, cuddling () and whataver is needed....

not fussed as long as we get to meet up. yay.

hub2dee · 10/12/2005 19:11

Birtish Museum, if I remember correctly, is very open, very spacey, and not all full of stairs.

OhLittleBitShyOfBethlehem · 10/12/2005 19:11

whatver, obviously. dunno what whataver means!!!

OnTheFlossDayOfChristmas · 10/12/2005 19:23

British museum it is then. I will ring up and book tomorrow. Sorted. Meet there and stay there for coffee/lunch/coffee/dinner/whatever?!!!

AwayInAMunker · 10/12/2005 19:26

Not sure you'll even have to book, but might be an idea to ring anyway to check they're not closed for refitting the mummy department or something ironic

I will be the one with a grumpy DS. After a nice week, I think the teeth are bothering him again and he was a grumpy little tyke all day today.

AwayInAMunker · 10/12/2005 19:43

I'll be the one saying "Just come and say hello, they will not bite you, unless you ask very nicely" to a grown man and DS looks like a boy again now as he had his hair cut today! Actually, will post a pic of him in member profiles in a mo with his hair at its longest so you can compare

OnTheFlossDayOfChristmas · 10/12/2005 19:44

My DS's hair just hasn't really grown at all! He's now 13 months and still has not yet required a haircut. I fear he has his fathers thin hair and not my thick stuff. One of the few things I wouldn't have minded him inheriting from me....!

SnowQueenVictoria · 10/12/2005 20:56

DS has had 2 hair cuts and is due his third soon (7 mths old - )

So we are meeting at the british museum then? What tube station is that now then?

hunkermunker · 10/12/2005 20:58

British Museum website here

DS's hair got madly long - might post a pic of him just before his first ever haircut later - I struggled having it done for the first time (actually, I did it and ballsed it up BIG time!).

OnTheFlossDayOfChristmas · 10/12/2005 20:59

Hunker, will you choose a name and stick with it?!

HunkerXmasAndAMunkerNewYear · 10/12/2005 21:00

Whoops. Have been playing on DS's member profile thread and it'll only let me use hunkermunker to post pics on that, and I keep forgetting to change it back

OnTheFlossDayOfChristmas · 10/12/2005 21:03

Tut, and everyone thinks your clever just cause you know how to spell....
