I thought last night that it would be nice for us to meet up again soon, a lunch time ish meet with the kids (less organisation required that way!), or if you are lucky enough to be kid free for the day come along anyway! Maybe to see some of the lovely xmas lights around central London. Maybe if JL does have an ad hoc santa to see him too! I went to one of the Giraffe cafe/bars a few weeks ago, which I thought might be a good place to go? Not crowded, not overpowering music, smoke free for the kis, good reasonably priced food and very child friendly. Am open to oher ideas though!

So does anyone have any dates they can/can't do? I really enjoyed our meet up at the weekend and QueenVic is having a bit of a hard time of it at the moment and needs some cheering. Hopefully we will be able to help out and all have a good giggle at the same time.

Thanks Hub . x

Lockets, QV/ highchair needers! I really need to do something about where we should go? I don't think anywhere is going to take kindly to us turning up ad hoc with the number of buggies we will have. As I said, the opera house don't do highchairs. I really don't know where else to suggest. Am panicking a bit!

SnowQueenVictoria · 09/12/2005 21:46

Wow, that Paul place sounds fab! Cheap and cheerful and lovely. What does everyone else think? Shall I interrogate them about the highchairs? Thanks for those HUb.

SnowQueenVictoria · 09/12/2005 22:12

Yep - Pauls looks good. Hub is much better at googling than me

hub2dee · 09/12/2005 22:13

Damn. They don't have profiteroles, LOL...

Tempting though: their cakes .

Their phone number is 020 7836 5321. Give 'em a shout and check if they have highchairs and if they can take a group our size (I imagine there will be a few drop-outs / no-shows on the day, including possibly me). Something like this would be a good choice though as people can turn up at different times, and it's informal etc.

I imagine if they can't offer you a booking though it might not work because I imagine it gets pretty full...

Does anyone work near this place or know it ? Does it get madly busy ?

hub2dee · 09/12/2005 22:14

QV - it was from the PAPER Time Out guide, LOL... I didn't even know we had it. . Luckily dw is good with RL, LOL.

OnTheFlossDayOfChristmas · 09/12/2005 22:16

Thanks Hub. Will ring in the morning. Thought if I booked for 10 then that should be alright. Can always try for more if needed. Try and come and bring DD would be lovely to meet her. Does she need a boyfriend? Does she like older (well a good 6 months!) men?

SnowQueenVictoria · 09/12/2005 22:17

you still came up with 2 or 3 others and i hadnt found one yet!

Floss - if its too much of a mare, pizza hut is fine with me - im not a restaurant snob - they definitely have highchairs.

OnTheFlossDayOfChristmas · 09/12/2005 22:19

I know Vic, but it's a bit of a in joke between my friend and I - we always end up there! Have renamed it piaza Hieut. In best posh London suburbs mickey take.

OhLittleBitShyOfBethlehem · 09/12/2005 22:50

yeah, pizza hut is always a good one just in case.....

argh, getting really nervous now. will be my first meet up.

OnTheFlossDayOfChristmas · 09/12/2005 22:56

Well I've met a few at the last one and I can promise you they were all lovely.

OhLittleBitShyOfBethlehem · 10/12/2005 10:32

phew!!!!!

actually getting excited now, but... just a qst, how do we know we're coming up to the right bunch of ppl???? I don't have a clue what anyone looks like.... don't want to infiltrate some mother's union meet up!!!!

OnTheFlossDayOfChristmas · 10/12/2005 10:53

Trust me you will know! If you want, CAT me and I will give you my mob number, so you can phone if unsure.

kleist · 10/12/2005 15:44

I think I know Paul's and if I'm right, it's quite small inside ... but it looks very nice. I don't know how long you'd want to spend just in that one place though.

What did anyone think of my suggestion of British Museum? I know it's not Covent Garden, but does it have to be? They've got a line of high chairs and it's very easy going. It will be more sandwich / snack type of thing than 'proper' food, but it's great for kids. Especially the mobile ones.

kleist · 10/12/2005 15:46

Or Rainforest Cafe in Picadilly? Made for kids, downstairs with thundery rainy effects, nice nooks and crannies, not ridiculously priced prob no more than the dreaded Pizza Hut. I'm not a fan of P.H., they're so cramped inside.

kleist · 10/12/2005 15:49

Look at Rainforest Cafe here

OhLittleBitShyOfBethlehem · 10/12/2005 15:50

i've always wanted to try there - shame dd won't be with me (ha ha, not that i'm looking forward to it!!!)

kleist · 10/12/2005 15:51

Actually maybe it is too expensive ...

OhLittleBitShyOfBethlehem · 10/12/2005 15:53

we could default to pizza hut, nice and cheap with buffet....

kleist · 10/12/2005 15:55

Would pizza hut allow me and dd to just come in and have a drink and dessert do you think? Dd won't eat pizza. But I'm thinking of giving her a packed lunch on the way as she's usually ravenous immediately after school and won't survive the bus journey into town otherwise!

OhLittleBitShyOfBethlehem · 10/12/2005 15:57

they have pasta and salad in the buffet too... dd generally eats those rather than the pizza (yet it's the pizza she yackers on about, strange) when we go there.

but with the number of us eating, i am pretty sure they won't mind you doing whatever.....

AwayInAMunker · 10/12/2005 16:02

DH and I are planning to go to London Zoo with DS on Monday after meeting up in the morning - British Museum sounds very good to us.

AwayInAMunker · 10/12/2005 16:03

Ah, thread's moved on whilst I was researching tube stations and 2 for 1 offers to London Zoo - LOL!
