Meet-ups

When meeting up take sensible precautions. Meet in a public place and let others know where you are going.

In Reverance to QueenVic who needs some cheering up!

I thought last night that it would be nice for us to meet up again soon, a lunch time ish meet with the kids (less organisation required that way!), or if you are lucky enough to be kid free for the day come along anyway! Maybe to see some of the lovely xmas lights around central London. Maybe if JL does have an ad hoc santa to see him too! I went to one of the Giraffe cafe/bars a few weeks ago, which I thought might be a good place to go? Not crowded, not overpowering music, smoke free for the kis, good reasonably priced food and very child friendly. Am open to oher ideas though!

So does anyone have any dates they can/can't do? I really enjoyed our meet up at the weekend and QueenVic is having a bit of a hard time of it at the moment and needs some cheering. Hopefully we will be able to help out and all have a good giggle at the same time.

Yes I reckon that sounds good.

Essbee, can you still make it? I think you have been busy house buying?

HunkerXmasAndAMunkerNewYear · 10/12/2005 21:06

We're having our drive done and the builders are coming first thing on Monday morning - I'm planning on thrusting some cash at them for the materials, pointing them in the direction of the drive and letting them get on with it - DH might want to chat to them or somesuch nonsense - but would imagine that we'll be able to be there for 11 - will ring Floss or QV if we're running late.

SnowQueenVictoria · 10/12/2005 21:20

So are we meeting IN the museum now? Am i being stupid and missing posts?

OnTheFlossDayOfChristmas · 10/12/2005 21:22

Would that be ok? Not be stupid, me being stupid! Not stating anywhere. meet in the cafe of the museum - will check the name in case there are two!

SnowQueenVictoria · 10/12/2005 21:23

There are three i believe!

OnTheFlossDayOfChristmas · 10/12/2005 21:24

Of course there is two! Look here and state your preference. I like the sound of the last one.

OnTheFlossDayOfChristmas · 10/12/2005 21:25

One is a restuarant, though. Expensive + skint MN'er - bad combo.

OnTheFlossDayOfChristmas · 10/12/2005 21:25

Umm, a link would be useful to interject here cafe

OnTheFlossDayOfChristmas · 10/12/2005 21:29

Mind you more variety at the 1st one next to room 12.

kleist · 10/12/2005 22:03

I was thinking the Great Court cafe was probably the best as it's on ground level, huge, free and easy, cheap as you want it to be, etc. etc. The only thing you have to decide as the hall is enormous is which side you'll be most likely to be sitting on. It would be hard to spot each other as there'll be lots of groups of mums with kids. I'm still planning on arriving around 1pm hopefully. I'm tall with long-ish black hair and a 3-year-old dd with light brown hair with slides, who will no doubt be carrying a large-ish snowman. Who's likely to be there at 1pm so I know who to look out for?

kleist · 10/12/2005 22:04

By the way, nearest tubes are Tottenham Court Rd or Russell Square or Holborn.

OnTheFlossDayOfChristmas · 10/12/2005 22:07

CAT me and you can have my phone number if you like! Thats what most are doing. We will look out for you. Cat me yours too and we can ring you if the plans change.

novabrandybutterpowder · 10/12/2005 22:08

Things have moved on since I last looked in!

The British Museum sounds like a very good idea, and I agree about the cafe next to room 12 seeming more suitable for us.

Count me in still, does anyone want to exchange mobile numbers 'just in case'?

SnowQueenVictoria · 10/12/2005 22:09

Gallery cafe looks good to me!

I'm going to CAT you now, Floss.

But will there be many of you around still at 1pmish?

OnTheFlossDayOfChristmas · 10/12/2005 22:11

CAT me Nova. Some of us have done this already, so you are right it is a good idea. Anyone else who wants to Cat me can have it too (Keanu, you listening? )

OnTheFlossDayOfChristmas · 10/12/2005 22:12

I plan to be yes!

SnowQueenVictoria · 10/12/2005 22:14

Essbee.........

I have bad news about your laptop.........

It wont be ready for Monday. DP got confused as to which day i was meeting you. He can still do it (for next monday.....) but obviously there is the issue of getting it to you now.

novabrandybutterpowder · 10/12/2005 22:15

Have CAT-ed you

Thanks for organising this, I'm looking forward to it , although hoping that DD doesn't grumble as much as she did at gymboree on friday

CATed you, Floss.

So, do you think we can compile a list of roughly who's coming with what age kid and vague physical description I guess I'm asking too much ... It's just that I went on a meet-up in Greenwich once and approached about 7 groups of women with kids before finding the MNers It was a painful experience: 'hi, are you from MN?' blank looks at me, some hostile, some embarrassed. Urg.

SnowQueenVictoria · 10/12/2005 22:19

Thanks, and sorry for the mix up essbee.

Will send you mine back lockets

dropinthemanger · 10/12/2005 22:19
