Meet-ups

When meeting up take sensible precautions. Meet in a public place and let others know where you are going.

In Reverance to QueenVic who needs some cheering up!

I thought last night that it would be nice for us to meet up again soon, a lunch time ish meet with the kids (less organisation required that way!), or if you are lucky enough to be kid free for the day come along anyway! Maybe to see some of the lovely xmas lights around central London. Maybe if JL does have an ad hoc santa to see him too! I went to one of the Giraffe cafe/bars a few weeks ago, which I thought might be a good place to go? Not crowded, not overpowering music, smoke free for the kis, good reasonably priced food and very child friendly. Am open to oher ideas though!

So does anyone have any dates they can/can't do? I really enjoyed our meet up at the weekend and QueenVic is having a bit of a hard time of it at the moment and needs some cheering. Hopefully we will be able to help out and all have a good giggle at the same time.

Sounds great! Yes, thanks Floss, for all the work. I really hope it's not a pain my tagging along at the last minute? What kind of time are you planning on meeting then? I can be there for around 1pm.

OnTheFlossDayOfChristmas · 07/12/2005 19:59

I'm not really doing any work! It's not caused any probs at all Kliest. I'll try and book tomorrow, if not definately Fri, depending on how organised I am in the morning and whether a few others have got back to confirm they are coming. I think we are meeting at around 10.30 to 11 as Essbee has to leave early. I've not got to rush off anywhere though, so I've got all day!

NotHavingXmasInChicagomum · 07/12/2005 20:02

feel I am really missing out. Please promise to do one of these in the new year(ish) not on a monday

SnowQueenVictoria · 07/12/2005 20:31

Hi! Sorry, havent been on for oooh 24 hours i think

DS is definitely coming. I dont know about DD yet. DS will need a high chair though.

Sorry for those that cant make it. Would love to do another meet up next year so you can all come.

SnowQueenVictoria · 07/12/2005 20:31

And big thank you to floss too

hub2dee · 07/12/2005 21:58

I am still a tentative... we are away on hols just a few days later and I fear last minute arrangements (car rental, apartment, flights) might mean I can't come, but I'll try and make it. Sorry if this is crap re: the booking...

No highchair for dd, but space for a buggy else I'll hold her.

kleist: bet you didn't think we'd share a table... pmsl

kleist · 07/12/2005 22:06

hub, do you honestly think we'll be sharing a table?!

So, if you're all meeting at 10.30 or so, will there be anyone left at 1pm?

If anyone wants to join me, I was thinking of taking dd along to the Santas Grotto in Hamley's later in the afternoon ...

OhLittleBitShyOfBethlehem · 07/12/2005 22:26

argh- i'm lost. what, where, what time.

and i haven't checked with dh yet

AwayInAMunker · 07/12/2005 22:29

DH has said he wants to take DS to the Natural History Museum on Monday (because DS said "dinosaur" very clearly this morning, I think!) so we will all come up to London in the morning. That means I'll probably have DS with me when we meet (but not DH - he's shy ). But he is unlikely to need a highchair because I don't think it's fair to DH to stay for lunch, really! So I'll probably have gone by the time you get there, Kleist, but will no doubt meet up with you in the future.

I hope this is OK with everyone - ChicagoMum, you will be missed on Monday, but will do my best to get to a non-Monday meet-up in the New Year and see you again then.

hub2dee · 08/12/2005 12:38

What, like her mum ?

lol

Ha. Ha.

Lucky it's a long table.

LOL

Cadeauxbury · 08/12/2005 14:55

I'm a not sure now I'm afraid. It kind of depends when we leave the spa and I get back to SW London and therefore can get into London. If I turn up, I'll turn up, if not, I won't. Sorry to be vague.

OnTheFlossDayOfChristmas · 08/12/2005 20:58

Erm have been out wining and dining and visiting Harrods Santa so will definately book tomorrow. Sorry (my excuse is that I am now a whole quater of a century and my memory is fading fast -nothing to do with any wine...)

SnowQueenVictoria · 08/12/2005 21:39

Is it your birthday floss?????

OnTheFlossDayOfChristmas · 08/12/2005 21:40

Yes it is! Having some fizzy stuff now!

SnowQueenVictoria · 08/12/2005 21:41

Happy Birthday!!!!

xxx

kleist · 08/12/2005 22:29

Happy birthday, floss! You're so young ... sigh ... How was Harrod's Santa by the way? Dd's going crazy to see a Santa grotto.

OnTheFlossDayOfChristmas · 09/12/2005 10:47

Queing for an hour and a half, but it really wasn't too bad. They handed out free gingerbread men and jelly lollies and bottles of water. There were TV screens dotted around showing the snowman, which DS got really excited by - screaming at him! Also they had Santa's helpers, his cook, housekeeper etc entertaining the crowds for a good half hour or so. Santa looked like santa too and was very nice to oour DS's. Lots of staff and very chilled, I found. Went as this is likely to be last xmas in London, and brought a piccie to give to DP as an xmas pressie from DS - as he loves all things xmassey. I enjoyed it anyhow!

OnTheFlossDayOfChristmas · 09/12/2005 12:18

Right, well have phoned but they are now off to check whether or not they have highchairs... Not sure that bodes all that well?

OnTheFlossDayOfChristmas · 09/12/2005 12:24

Nope no high chairs. Any other ideas or do you think we will manage? I know for one my DS will get tetchy in his pushchair.

OnTheFlossDayOfChristmas · 09/12/2005 12:47

Hello!! Me again! They are however, happy to be taken over by buggies, so I will leave it up to you lot to decide!

hub2dee · 09/12/2005 16:30

Just to let everyone coming to this meetup know that wmf has seeded lockets unto his charms (again) and hath given her an alcohol-free Xmas (again).

Congrats to both of you !

Thanks for doing all the chasing / enquiries etc. floss. I will still only be a last minute 'for sure' because I am a procrastinating git and have mucho holiday stuff to organise. Very glad we managed to be on such a lovely table a few weeks ago, eh ?
