Egg fast starting Monday 21 July

This is the support thread for the egg fast. I have based the rules on Jimmy Moore's Eggfest. Please note that this is an experimental fast and may not be suitable for people with underlying health conditions. It is intended for people that are already following a low carb - high fat diet and are trying to break a stall or lose the last few pounds to reach their goal weight.

DISCLAIMER: I am not a doctor or nutritionist. If you follow this fast and have any issues at all such as feeling unwell then seriously consider stopping the fast immediately. Alternatively wait until a few of us have tried it first!

THE RULES

1. Eat at least six eggs per day
This is not a calorie-restricted diet so eat to fullness.

2. Buy the best quality eggs you can
Free range eggs may contain more omega 3 fats and vitamin D.

3. Eat one tablespoon of butter per egg
Coconut oil, olive oil and mayo may also be used.

4. You may add up to one ounce of cheese per egg if desired
Make sure your cheese is low carb.

5. Drink as much water as you can: at least 2-4 litres MINIMUM
Black or bulletproof coffee, black tea, green tea and herbal tea can be added if required.

6. Add salt and keep taking your usual vitamins (if taken)
Consider extra magnesium and potassium to prevent cramps.
If you suffer from constipation then flaxseed may help.

7. Exercise daily
Even a short walk will help maintain lean muscle mass.

8. Eat three meals a day; if not hungry eat one egg
Your appetite will be reduced but keep eating to preserve lean muscle mass.

9. Follow the egg fast for three days; five days may give better results
You will be sick of eggs by the third day.

10. Transition back to your normal diet
E.g. the day after eat two egg meals and one normal meal (whatever you usually eat), the day after that eat one egg meal and two normal meals. Consider keeping on eating at least two eggs a day to maintain the effects of the fast.

Stunt, are you doing meat and eggs? I had just bacon (6 slices), mayo and 2 BPC's yesterday (getting the calories in), making bacon and egg just now, haven't weighed yet but not at all hungry.

Must admit, I love this compared to just eggs!

StuntNun · 29/07/2014 11:12

Pretty much Schro but with a small quantity of low carb veg as well a la Ubercamp. I'm going to do meat and eggs until Friday then have a carb refeed on Saturday. I'm visiting a friend tomorrow and she knows I eat low carb so she's doing roast chicken but I'm just going to enjoy myself and not make a fuss about food. I have less than two pounds to go until goal and I'm determined to get there by the end of this Bootcamp. Yesterday I had

B: three egg cheese omelette
L: steak and salad with vinaigrette
D: 100% beef burger and a fried egg (in ghee)

I also had too much tea yesterday which really pushed my carbs up (23g).

Today it's
B: three scrambled eggs and a BPC
L: burger and a fried egg
D: courgetti and bolognese

And less tea

Will be doing meat and eggs for the same time.

Today I have had 4 slices of bacon an egg and a BPC.

Dinner will be burger and egg too. :o

StuntNun · 29/07/2014 13:51

Do the egg nice and runny so you can mop it up with the burger. Nom!

Iamblossom · 29/07/2014 19:40

Why doesn't MFp show the carbs in wine?

StuntNun · 29/07/2014 19:48

Most wines don't show their carb content.

OP posts:
SchroSawMargeryDaw · 29/07/2014 20:27

Okay, I decided I didn't want a burger and am having... more bacon.

B- BPC, 4 slices of bacon and some mayo

L - 4 slices of bacon and some mayo

D - You guessed it, 4 slices of bacon and mayo.

I am in heaven.

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 29/07/2014 20:28

I lie, I had an egg yolk this morning too.

Iamblossom · 29/07/2014 20:49

But they don't show their calorie count either do they, and yet that shows up on MFp?

Iamblossom · 30/07/2014 08:49

9 3 again today - am happy because I am deffo hovering around this weight now, instead of 9 5 as I was for months before.

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 30/07/2014 09:59

I'm hovering over 10st 12 and not moving, I think my weight is skewed by my boobs though (28/30J), this is part of the reason for me doing this as I have been told by GP he will refer me for reduction when my BMI comes below 27 (it's the rules :(), last time I was there it was 28.

Measuring 29/30" around the waist atm, want to get that down to about 26/27"

Blossom I think MFP gives a general calorie count for each type of wine.

Stunt TMI, but since my bacon fest, I have done nothing but poo Blush, just me?

StuntNun · 30/07/2014 20:15

Schro won'tyour boobs will come down in size as you lose weight? I went from a 30HH to a 28GG this year alone.

OP posts:
StuntNun · 30/07/2014 20:17

I'm 9st2lb and I have a 29" waist. I don't think it could be any smaller than 27" tbh, don't I need some room for my organs in there?

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 30/07/2014 20:20

Unfortunately not enough, at my lowest weight (6st 3lbs at 18) they were still massive and causing back and neck pain, it makes it a bit worse as I have joint problems that make it more painful than it might have been without.

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 30/07/2014 20:21

True, I've probably forgotten what 26/27 looks like! :o

Iamblossom · 30/07/2014 20:33

6 stone, 3 pounds!!!!???!!! Shock

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 30/07/2014 20:45

No, that wasn't good, was totally controlled by an eating disorder. Something I never wish to repeat and a reason that low carbing and not heavilly restricting the amount of food I eat is a better choice for me.
Boobs were still massive though!

StuntNun · 31/07/2014 09:10

I'm having eggs for breakfast, a three-egg omelette. How's everyone else doing?

OP posts:
SchroSawMargeryDaw · 31/07/2014 11:46

Still meat only by changed it up a bot and had some tuna yesterday too. :) Trying to think of what to have today, especially as we're going to be out all day.

Iamblossom · 31/07/2014 12:53

eggs for brekkie as per, but have gone mad and had some mackerel for lunch.

Still 9 3, which is great, but am starting to wonder what the hell I have to do to see 9 2.....haven't gone above 12g of carbs for at least 5 days now.

Out to dinner at Pizza Express tonight - will have to have a salad I guess which will up my carbs a lot. Sad

Iamblossom · 31/07/2014 12:58

salmon salad is 17g! Antipasti sharing platter is 20g!! Shock

StuntNun · 31/07/2014 13:33

Leave out the carby bits Blossom. Pizza Express often put sundried tomatoes in which are vair carby. You could also take your own vinaigrette in a jar and ask for your salad without dressing.
