Week 3 - Autumn Low Carb Bootcamp - The Crossroads!

BIWI · 22/09/2013 23:12

So we have reached the end of the first two, strict weeks.

Come and confess all on the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

By now, if you have stuck to your knitting, you should be ketogenically adapted - which is to say, you should have switched your body from burning carbs to burning fat.

Hurrah!

Flowers

You now have a choice. You can relax things a little and can include some fruit (berries) and some nuts/seeds - and a little alcohol in moderation The rules of Bootcamp Light are on the spreadsheet.

Or

You can stay on Bootcamp, if it suits you - as long as you promise me that you are getting your carbs from vegetables and salad!

Another option, which many of us adopt, is to do Bootcamp during the week and Bootcamp Light at the weekend.

The choice is entirely yours!

I hope that everyone is enjoying their food, which is the most important thing. And good luck for the next week.

I weigh on a Wednesday and 1lb down so 5lb down over past 2 weeks for me.
notable on jeans belt,
work trousers very loose on waist.
B 2 hardboiled eggs
L Celery soup with dollop of cream
D Salmon fillet, probably with ratatouille.
Snack - Celery and philly

LilyAmaryllis · 25/09/2013 11:00

Mrs Snuffle I think your menu looks good as long as you baked the cod with plenty of butter and didn't hold back with the oil in the ratatouille.

Crabby aren't you lovely to be so friendly to an exDP's partner (ex-partner). It could be such a difficult relationship.

My weight's a little down again today which I find cheering and still a bit surprising too (it feels like unchartered territory, I haven't been this light in such a long time.) Its great though. I had to run yesterday (we're talking 100 metres - I'd set off on the school run but forgotten something so ran back home) and it felt completely different, much easier. BUT... frankly 100 metres was enough, I also thought, That BIWI running 5K. RESPECT.

bigkidsdidit · 25/09/2013 11:04

Crabby could you post that recipe? I could do with a treat!

LeaveIt · 25/09/2013 11:22

Morning all! I'm hoping to join you all. Can you tell me if it is low carb, high fat you are doing? Or just low carb? Thanks

silverangel · 25/09/2013 11:33

Morning all,

Leaveit - have a look at the first bootcamp thread - all the rules are at the top but basically, low carb high fat.

I am starving today - what's going on, havent bee nreally hungry for ages. yesterday I had:

B - FF yog with vanilla extract and two sloces chorizo
L - Corned beef salad with coleslaw
D - thai pork mince stir fry

Today, so far, I have had:

B - FF greek yog with vanilla extract, couple of slices smoked pork sausage, M&S chicken bites with satay dip (didnt eat the dip), snack sized portion of cheese from M&S.

And I'm still hungry!! What's going on? I have left bolognese for lunch but really cant eat that at my desk at 11.30...

have also had a litre of water already in case it's thirst...

LeaveIt · 25/09/2013 11:42

Brilliant thanks silverangel

AuntieMaggie · 25/09/2013 12:41

ofcoursethisisanamechange · 25/09/2013 12:50

Hello all- have convinced my husband to go LC as well- which is great. He's asking a few questions though- about dairy, etc, and I'm not sur eof the answers- do I remember BIWI posting some links to articles explaining the science behind bootcamp? if anyone could post I would be very grateful..... and have stalled a bit, so just trying to stay motivated...

googoogoggles · 25/09/2013 13:24

Post-and-run:
B Coffee with dollop of cream (lovely!)
L Black farmer sausages with mushrooms sauteed in butter (working from home again)
D tbc Maybe tuna mayo lettuce wraps with extra bits of veg chopped in
Doing extra sausages so have some for snack/lunch tomorrow

JustasmallGless · 25/09/2013 15:41

ofcourse - there are lots of links to resources and explanations on the spreadsheet of fabulousness.
My DH has stopped having certain carbs at certain meals in the last couple of weeks but not managed to full on LC so well done!

B - cheese and mushroom omlette
L - Dreamy creamy spinach soup. This is LUSH -tastes just like pesto. In fact my DC call it pesto soup
D - shepherds pie a la celeriac

ofcoursethisisanamechange · 25/09/2013 16:01

ah- thanks Justa-- hadn't thought of the spreadsheet!

BIWI · 25/09/2013 16:26

ofcourse - it's really worth getting hold of a copy of "Escape the Diet Trap" by Dr John Briffa. It explains everything really clearly.

Lily - Grin - I didn't just get up and run 5K you know. I did start a while ago to build up to that distance!

as well as the spreadsheet, biwi has written some articles:

what is the low carb diet?
how low carb diets work
what is low carb bootcamp?

holmessweetholmes · 25/09/2013 17:11

Lovely to hear about the health benefits, but I'm a bit Sad that the scales aren't moving for me. I had that crazy 8lb loss, which presumably was water, and I've just been pinging around between that and my original weight ever since - few pounds back on, then back off again. Any ideas?

ofcoursethisisanamechange · 25/09/2013 17:35

I'm the same holmes-- but am optomistic it will start again- just really trying to stay motivated...

ofcoursethisisanamechange · 25/09/2013 17:37

thanks for those links Willie- very helpful

ImATotJeSuisUneTot · 25/09/2013 17:40

Just checking in, finally feeling better, and have a renewed vigour too.

B- Greek yogurt

L- Mexican chicken and frittata.

D- Mexican chicken and chorizo with spring greens, cheese and sour cream.

Snack - a whole tin of anchovies! Just REALLY fancied them! GrinGrin

holmessweetholmes · 25/09/2013 17:56

B: omelette, bulletproof coffee
L: Salad with salami, avocado and a little mozzarella, oily dressing
D: deeeelicious prawn and aubergine red thai curry

LilyAmaryllis · 25/09/2013 18:09

Silverangel I didn't spot any veg or salad in your breakfast or lunch. I think I'd get hungry without that element at each meal. But also, some days you just are hungrier (eg around TOTM, maybe depending how active you are, etc).

bulletwithbutterflywings · 25/09/2013 18:27

I've stayed the same this week - not surprised as I ate rice and beans and drank wine on Saturday and then had pastry/ bready canapes on sunday.
Saturday was unavoidable without seeming extremely rude but Sunday was lack of planning and being starving in the wrong place! Blush

JustasmallGless · 25/09/2013 20:41

holmes - now then what does BIWI tell us about weeks 3-5.
You may "Stall" which is not really stalling.

Have you measured yourself (god I am boring myself now!)

MotherOfSoupDragon · 25/09/2013 21:10

Can I join in too? I've taken part in previous bootcamps, but have NC'ed and would like to join in again. I have about a stone to lose.

JustasmallGless · 25/09/2013 21:43

Of course!! The more the merrier Grin

holmessweetholmes · 25/09/2013 22:24

Justasmallgless - no, haven't measured, but given that the stuff I've read about lc says that the initial big weightloss is largely water, I'm wondering ig I've really lost any 'proper' weight at all Sad. Which, considering that I started early, is a bit depressing.

JustasmallGless · 25/09/2013 22:49

holmes yes your inital big weightloss is usually water. However if you have been sticking to bootcamp rules your body may just be adjusting. have you started exercising at the same time as your muscles can retain water to repair them.

Don't despair - it really does work. Try the measurement thing and keep going at least for a coupe of weeks.

Also think of all the health benefits.
No farting
No thrush

Just to name a couple Grin
