Week 4 (or 5!) Jan '25 Low Carb Bootcamp

BIWI · 27/01/2025 08:27

Morning all.

Spreadsheet, as ever

Although we're coming to the end of this particular Bootcamp, you'll see that @FinallyHere has added enough columns to the spreadsheet so that you can keep going, should you wish.

We'll also keep this thread going too, past the end of the week, for general low carb/Bootcamp chat and support - although I won't be starting a weigh-in thread each Monday after this one.

I know it's only been a short one this time, but looking at the spreadsheet, it looks like there have been some great results, even before today's weigh-in. Flowers

Oh and well done @prettybird

@BIWI the berocca seems to have had a positive effect on my headaches. Once they run out I'll buy those electrolytes if headaches continue

prettybird · 01/02/2025 00:16

Meant to mention that I cooked a great "leftovers" meal on Thursday night: sliced a steak that I found in my dad's freezer (Shock) and stir fried it with shallots and garlic and par-cooked neeps, carrots, celeriac, halved Brussels and baby sweetcorn, with a load of soy sauce and some Worcestershire sauce. Chucked in some out of date Naked (Konjac) noodles and finished off with some toasted sesame oil. Lovely Smile Made enough for both dh and me with a wee bit leftover.

Tonight I made my home-made low carb chicken nuggets, which dh also really enjoyed Halo

RockyRogue1001 · 01/02/2025 09:25

Good morning everyone
I hadn't realised bootcamp was officially over.
Well done to everyone who made it through
And mahoosive mahoosive thanks to @BIWI and @FinallyHere for all their work and support. 💐💕

I've had a strict week, and have lost the 2lb I gained last week. The scales were wavering enough that I'm hopeful another lb will come off for weigh day tomorrow, which, if it happens, takes me down a big number.
I will be sticking around as I'm hoping to be strict bootcamping-even-if-there-is-no-official-bootcamp until at least Easter, so hope to keep seeing some of you

We had an amazing potatas bravas yesterday, but done with celeriac instead of potatoes
I can't remember if the recipe was on here or on the recipe threads, but it was amazing

ColouringPencils · 01/02/2025 11:15

Hi everyone, we made it! I forgot to check in on week 4 and now it is over. I am planning to keep going though.

I don't trust my scales. On Thurs (my weigh in day), I had gained 1 lb on the week before. I didn't like that, so I weighed again yesterday and was 4lb down. How can it vary so much? I will probably put the higher number on the spreadsheet so I can feel better at a later date!

I started this bootcamp as I always do Dry January and was also looking at giving up UPFs, so this seemed to combine the two. (Plus, I am the biggest I have ever been). I have to say it is the easiest Dry Jan I have done as I think this WOE must remove some of the desire for alcohol. Now I am a bit torn whether to have wine tonight or just try to keep going with no alcohol. I don't actually have any social events planned for a few weeks, so it would probably be okay.

ColouringPencils · 01/02/2025 11:17

Yes, thank you to @BIWI and @FinallyHere for all your support! And to all the people sharing recipes and ideas. I feel I haven't contributed much, but I have gained a lot.

Not weight, I hope 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I'm hanging around to, although I'm not a great contributor, but I'm happy to keep chatting and I always rwad.
It does help with motivation

ColouringPencils · 01/02/2025 13:47

Haha @RockyRogue1001 😄

prettybird · 01/02/2025 17:51

I was an upholstery course today. Forgot to take water today so as I was walking home, I was parched and looking forward to a long drink of water.

..... A water main has broken in the neighbourhood so there's no water Shock A large part of the South of Glasgow has been affected Sad

It's expected to be restored in one to two hours.

I'll remember to take water with me for Day 2 of the course tomorrow Wink

lurknolinger · 01/02/2025 20:38

Oh no @prettybird that's annoying.
I can sympathise as I had 24 hours with no water on Monday (due to a DIY disaster) I hope it gets fixed quickly for you.

Thanks to @BIWI and @finallyhere running the thread and imparting all their knowledge. And to everyone for all the inspiration and food ideas.

My end of Bootcamp weigh in yesterday brought me to a total of 10lb loss since Jan 1st, which I'm pleased with but as a daily weigher I was amazed to have an overnight "whoosh" and another 2lbs has disappeared, not sure if that will stick, but usually when I see a lower number even if it goes up slightly for a day or two I usually see that number again quite quickly, so not banking it just yet but very happy to see that this morning!

I'm going to KOKO as I've got another 30lbs to lose, so will be here for a while!

prettybird · 01/02/2025 21:38

To be fair on Scottish Water, they had the water back on by 6.30 SmileFlowers It was a major burst - a main road completely flooded.

Have now enjoyed low carb sausages and shoogled sprouts for supper. I turned down the wine Wine that dh is having as I plan to share the very nice bottle he'll be opening tomorrow to go with the thyme infused frothing butter extra thick fillet steaks we'll be having. Halo

Week 4 (or 5!) Jan '25 Low Carb Bootcamp
RockyRogue1001 · 02/02/2025 07:28

wowsers @prettybird, that does look major
Congrats on your woosh @lurknolinger. You and I are similar in terms of where we want to get to, so I'll be seeing you for a while too.

I didn't lose the extra lb I was hoping for, so bang on a big number for me today. That's 7lb in total for this boot camp, which isn't bad (especially as I self-sabotaged last weekend).

Good luck to everyone else who still has to do their final weigh in.

venusandmars · 02/02/2025 15:06

I was late to bootcamp and I'm quite close to my target weight so I haven't seen any big losses, but 3 pounds down in 3 weeks, it's all going in the right direction.

Going out for a meal with friends this evening so just had some creamy green vegetable soup for lunch. We're eating at a Spanish restaurant so will probably have tapas. There are some good low carb options which I'll order and stab people with my fork if they try to share

I've got a friend coming for a couple of days so I've spent the morning cooking in preparation. There's some delicious butter chicken and keto naan bread and the start of a boullabaisse which just needs the fish to be added. I'm pretty certain wine will be drunk Blush

BIWI · 02/02/2025 15:34

That's the problem with tapas, or meze, isn't it?! Lots of lovely low carb options, but every other fucker wants to share mine!

Thanks @RockyRogue1001

Yes I'm Definitely here for the longer term. . . It'll be nice to have your company for the ride! 😊

Floralnomad · 03/02/2025 11:17

Well final weigh in for me and I’ve stayed the same however I’m down just over 5 lb since Jan 1st so overall I’m happy . In total since mid September I’ve lost 32.5 lbs and moved from almost an obese BMI to the top off the normal range . I’m carrying on with this WOE , I’ve discovered I don’t really miss pasta / rice / potatoes but moving forward I’m going to allow the odd salmon en croute and I’ve also ordered some low carb bread for toast ( in moderation) . I’d ideally like to lose another stone at least but I do think the closer you get the harder it is .

CleanQueen123 · 03/02/2025 17:56

170lbs for me this morning so I think overall I've lost 4lbs this bootcamp which I'm slightly disappointed with but I'll KOKO!

RockyRogue1001 · 03/02/2025 19:05

It's lovely to read about your losses.
I get your disappointment, @CleanQueen123, but 4lb off is still a win

prettybird · 03/02/2025 20:52

4lb off is indeed a win Smile - this was only a less than one month Boot Camp after all! Grin

I'd meant to post a picture of our lovely meal last night: extra thick 30 day aged fillet steaks cooked (briefly Wink) in thyme infused frothing butter, served with fried shallots, fried tomatoes and shoogled sprouts. Served with a very nice bottle of South African Haute Cabriere Pinot Noir Reserve. And now we can't post photos Sad

CleanQueen123 · 03/02/2025 21:25

Thanks both. January seemed like it lasted forever so I thought I'd lose more weight 😂

Fuck photos, @prettybird, send a portion round right now, if not sooner please

KittenPause · 03/02/2025 22:29

Can we not post photos anymore

I'm going try a random photo

KittenPause · 03/02/2025 22:30

Oh that's a shame no photo Sad

BIWI · 03/02/2025 22:46

We can't send photos now/at the moment because MN was 'invaded' by horrible criminal types who posted a whole load of child sexual abuse photos last night.

That's grim I had no idea

BIWI · 04/02/2025 09:27

There's a post in Site Stuff about it - title is something about the Night Watch
