Week 3 (or 2!) Jan '25 Low Carb Bootcamp

Morning all

So this is our second full week - some of you will be a few days ahead, so coming up to your week 3 (this is very confusing!)

I'm really impressed about the lack of wine so far Grin

We've had a couple of very quiet weeks so far, after some fairly hectic socialising at the end of last year. It does make it easier to stay on track, both food-wise as well as booze.

If you started on 2 or 3 January, when you get to the end of this week, i.e. 16 or 17, you can make a decision about moving on to Bootcamp Light if you wish - i.e. you can reintroduce fruit, nuts/seeds and chocolate. All in moderation, obviously!

And if you check out the spreadsheet you'll see that there are carb counts there for fruit and nuts/seeds, to help you make your choices.

Good luck Flowers

Tbf my normal omelette size is 3 eggs 🍳 6 is a first and last

NoCarbsForMe · 16/01/2025 10:56

I'd go 2-3 eggs 🍳🥚

KittenPause · 16/01/2025 11:01

Ok so today I'll make a 2 egg omelette but with mushrooms and red pepper.

And never again make extra for later because clearly I can not be trusted Blush

Again, I apologise. If you look at my previous bootcamps post history I am the last person to be talking about portion sizes. I've fell off the wagon or gone rogue more times than I can count 😜

Thanks @BIWI I think mine was just a daily fluctuation as I’ve lost 2.5lb overall this week, I’m just a pound up from yesterday’s weight if that makes sense.

Perhaps I need to stop with the daily weighing and go to once a week 🤔

I think daily weighing is good, for exactly this reason - you learn about natural fluctuations. It's only when an uptick (for no apparent reason) causes you to reach for the carbs that it's a problem!

TBF, whenever I make an omelette it's never just plain egg - there's usually cheese in there, sometimes ham and sometimes mushrooms, depending what's in the fridge!

@KittenPause Why are you buying a 0g fat one though?! You should be at least buying the 5% fat ones, ideally 10% fat.

Ah - sorry - I see you'd posted the wrong picture. That's better! (Although you'd still be better buying the 10% one Grin)

@MissBeckIsAtWork stop apologising it's fine I promise Smile No one holds it against you. It's all good honestly. Don't dwell on it either which you might be doing. Don't sweat the small stuff. Draw a line under it.

Let's KOKO

Iheartmysmart · 16/01/2025 13:34

I’m not a lover of omelettes regardless of the number of eggs 😆 but have just made the mushroom soufflé omelette from Budget Keto Kitchen and blooming heck it was lovely. With the added bonus of an arm work out whisking the egg whites.

CleanQueen123 · 16/01/2025 13:42

I had an odd day yesterday. Snacked all day because the timings of my study day didn't give time to cook anything. Note for next week, have something prepped in the fridge for the 20 minute break!

Then fell into a big bowl of salmon and roasted veg in the evening.

Leftover roasted veg and little lamb kebabs with a dash of cream for lunch.

Hoping to see a whoosh next weigh day otherwise I'll be very demotivated after this week's gain.

KittenPause · 16/01/2025 13:48

I decided against an omelette Grin

Instead I roasted mushrooms, aubergine, red pepper and courgette in the air fryer to which I added a mayo mustard and lemon dressing with all purpose seasoning and garlic granules. Very yummy with some left over gammon

BIWI · 16/01/2025 15:13

Sorry to hear about the gain/fear of demotivation @CleanQueen123 - any ideas what might have led to the gain? Or do you think it's Just One Of Those Things?

Good luck for a whoosh next week, @CleanQueen123. I didn't lose anything last week but I have just weighed myself today and was down by about 3lb (despite Mascarpone-gate last night).

I was thrilled. It is the lowest I have weighed since August - and the August weight was achieved by cruelly juice-fasting, in contrast with all the lovely meals I have had for a couple of weeks recently.

I think just one of those things so 🤞🏼 for next weigh day.

@CleanQueen123 I never have a whoosh and appreciate any movement downwards . Are you far off your goal as it can really slow down when you have less to lose , which is what I’m finding now .

Well, I think it depends on what your view of a healthy weight should be. NHS guidelines seem to suggest I should be 9.5-10st for my height and I'm 12st, so that's a solid 2st to lose but it's certainly not coming off easily!

I misread that as a mayo and custard dressing 😃that would be novel! and not very low carb...I'll get me coat

God I'd love a whoosh!
Off to drink some water 💦

Floralnomad · 16/01/2025 18:37

@CleanQueen123 but your goal can be any weight you want , even an initial goal , nothing to do with what your BMI is .

I seem to be stuck in a cycle of losing and gaining the same half stone, so I suppose that's a good place to start.

Ideally I'd like to lose a full stone and see how I feel/look at that point.

BusyFrizzyLizzie · 16/01/2025 21:23

Does anyone else struggle with dry mouth? I'm drinking ALL the water but have a very cotton wool feeling mouth. Wonder if it's something to do with ketosis?

prettybird · 16/01/2025 21:29

@BusyFrizzyLizzie - that suggests you are not having enough electrolytes. You can buy tabs to add to your water, but I seem to get by with adding a shake of Lo:Salt and a squoosh of lemon juice to a pint of water (minimum of every second pint).

BusyFrizzyLizzie · 16/01/2025 21:33

@prettybird ah, thank you for the tip. Will give that a try.

BIWI · 16/01/2025 21:38

Salt in particular, @BusyFrizzyLizzie
