Week 3 (or 2!) Jan '25 Low Carb Bootcamp

Morning all

So this is our second full week - some of you will be a few days ahead, so coming up to your week 3 (this is very confusing!)

I'm really impressed about the lack of wine so far Grin

We've had a couple of very quiet weeks so far, after some fairly hectic socialising at the end of last year. It does make it easier to stay on track, both food-wise as well as booze.

If you started on 2 or 3 January, when you get to the end of this week, i.e. 16 or 17, you can make a decision about moving on to Bootcamp Light if you wish - i.e. you can reintroduce fruit, nuts/seeds and chocolate. All in moderation, obviously!

And if you check out the spreadsheet you'll see that there are carb counts there for fruit and nuts/seeds, to help you make your choices.

Good luck Flowers

@RockyRogue1001 Not sure where they get their data from - possibly American shallots are different?!!!

My usual 'go to' for nutritional information is Sainsbury's website. In fact, they give shallots as 3.1g per 100g.

My other source is the hugely detailed McCance Widdowsons Composition of Foods Integrated Data Set (2021) which is UK government data. They have shallots at 3.3g.

Composition of foods integrated dataset (CoFID)

McCance and Widdowson’s 'composition of foods integrated dataset' on the nutrient content of the UK food supply.

Just checking in. Great to catch up on everyone's progress. Especially the NSV's! I learn so much from all that's been shared. Predictably I've been unable to stick to BC. I'm in Brittany, staying with our French family, and found it impossible to resist the more carby treats, like cider and crêpes which I'd never indulge in at home. And the call of the baguette has been too strong, even though I can usually easily say no to bread. But surprisingly I seem to be maintaining a stable weight by not overdoing it. What I really related to on the thread is that overall my eating patterns are healthier thanks to learning about this WOE over the last year. I can resist the sweet stuff, I am choosing salads and vegetables over carb high fillers with protein. I have settled into a pattern of not eating until after 1pm ( it would be different if I was working) which I think is the main thing that is keeping me on an even keel. And I found a brilliant local pool, swimming every other day is a routine that helps keep me sane. I'm going to come back to low carbing proper in a couple of weeks when I'm back in the UK with my DM where there are fewer temptations. In the meantime, I am looking forward to hearing everyone's progress.
