Morning all!

Here's the link to the spreadsheet

Hopefully you will have seen a good result on the scales (or with your measurements/clothes) in this first week. @CarbONothing is half a stone down, which is brilliant Flowers

If you haven't lost/much, don't be downhearted. If this is a new WOE for you, sometimes it can take a while for your body to work out what it's supposed to do.

I have noticed, though, that there's been a fair bit of 'laxness' (which is the word I shall use with some leniency Wink), and although all that may have been justified, just remember this is supposed to be the first, strict, part of Bootcamp!

Thank you for posting the chicken soup recipe @islandtiger /@islandbengal - it does sound delicious. I would, though, bother with the faffing around with the skin, as crispy chicken skin is totally gorgeous.

Anyway, here's to a good week for us all.

Unfortunately it won’t work if you eat cake.

Wise words, @Pleaseandthankyou ...

Have failed miserably to pick up gochujang paste from anywhere near us - closest was Tesco with a space on the shelf but no stock so will have to improvise. A quick Google suggest sriracha with extra sugar so will have a think.........it's very sweet to start with

It's a bit late now but you can get it on Amazon and if you've got prime it's next day delivery.

AllTangledUpInTinselAndTiaras · 30/10/2024 15:34

Oh god now I've got my Christmas username on the thread!! 😠 I don't like this new business of not being able to change your name. Sock puppets? Meh who cares.

Sigh. All good on the LC front, plodding along.

CornflowerBlueSky · 30/10/2024 17:17

Thanks, yes, please add me onto the spreadsheet. I've read the prep thread and I'm very impressed with the spreadsheet. Today I've had
B- Cheesy scrambled eggs(2) with mushrooms fried in butter
L- Tuna salad with mayonnaise
D- Bolognese with salad and Greek yoghurt

Does that sound like an OK day? I drink lots of water already, so that won't be difficult for me.

Fairnair · 30/10/2024 17:23

Hi everyone

Breakfast was FFGY with a a bit of double cream & 1/4 tsp of Vanilla Bean extract, it’s quite intense. Had been using Vanilla Extract, which when I double checked on the website it’s basically sugar, oops, luckily I had not been too heavy handed with it.

Lunch was chicken legs with olive oil, salt & pepper airfried with a green salad with a few plum tomatoes (small ones) & green olives and full mayo.
Tea will be Beef chilli (without kidney beans) for me, I heat up separately & add to my husband’s portion. Probably have cauli rice & some cheese.

Trying not to be negative about the no weight loss when I weighed on Monday, as weight had gone down a bit on Sat when I weighed, but had gone back to the same weight again. I started 4 days earlier than official Bootcamp & had lost just over 3lb.

Am trying not to weigh myself too much as it “plays with my mind a bit” if I have a gain/no loss, & makes me feel like I am wasting my time. I lost nearly 4 1/2 stone during 2020 with a well known weight loss company, & had regained about 1 1/2 stone since. I got into the habit of only weighing myself once a week, and if I lost I was happy, if I stayed the same I just double checked my food logs to check where I could tweak. My husband regularly lost every week, but my pattern was lost, stayed the same, lost, it actually evened out and we were both losing 6-7lb a month at first.

Sorry for the essay xx ps copied & pasted, as I posted on Week 1 thread by mistake.

NoCarbsForMe · 30/10/2024 19:25

First day for me.

B scrambled eggs, feta, fried red peppers

L smoked mackerel mixed with Greek yog, wrapped in a nori sheet with avocado and thinly sliced yellow pepper.

D salmon steak, fried in butter with Cauliflower and broccoli florets, spring onions a dash of cream and Parmesan

Does that sound ok???

NoCarbsForMe · 30/10/2024 19:50

@Fairnair amazing achievement!
And thanks for sharing about your weightloss pattern. I'm the same, if I put 1lb on I get so upset.
I know it's not linear but it just messes with my motivation. Hoping that joining this thread will help keep me focused!

Fairnair · 30/10/2024 20:24

Thanks very much @NoCarbsForMe, bit annoyed with myself for putting some weight back on, but it has been a gradual thing, not getting lbs gained over the last couple of years at Christmas etc. However, I would be more annoyed with myself if I just thought oh why should I bother, & regain it all.

i am sure joining this thread will help keep you motivated and focused.

The main thing I have learnt is that if you have a not so good eating day, don’t think oh I have ruined it now may as well give up, you just have to get back on track straight away. You don’t throw away a whole bouquet when one flower wilts, not my quote, something I was told in the past.

SemmaLina · 30/10/2024 21:31

Well , I’ve been double jabbed today , Covid in one arm , Flu in the other .. hopefully I’ll survive 😂
Good day , food wise
B scrambled eggs with butter
L bacon and avocado salad with home made dressing and Parmesan on top
D pork chop with a creamy mustard sauce ( a Michael Mosely recipe which I’ll copy onto the recipe thread tomorrow) with stir fried green leafy veg , including a leek from the garden ( roughly the size of a large spring onion , but home grown ! )

Prepping the fruit for Christmas cakes tomorrow , no , not tempted at all 🤞

AllTangledUpInTinselAndTiaras · 30/10/2024 21:42

Food today:

Breakfast: 2 eggs, 3 rashers of streaky bacon, half a big avocado, 2 cherry tomatoes.

Lunch: 1 chicken leg, salad with red sauerkraut, carrot, celery, red pepper, cucumber, handful leaves, olive oil.

Dinner. Pork chop roasted with caramelised onion, sage, garlic. Mushrooms, fried in oil and butter, on the side.

Haven't had enough water so that will definitely be a goal tomorrow!

UnOeufIsEnough · 30/10/2024 21:55

B: scrambled eggs and creamy coffee
L: leftover chicken casserole with mushrooms
D: Heck sausages and veg roasted in lots of olive oil.

Not too bad on the water and sweated my way through a Joe Wicks HIIT session. I am still very unfit but having lost weight, it's easier to do a plank. Still miles off a push up Blush

FinallyHere · 31/10/2024 09:15

@NoCarbsForMe

I'm the same, if I put 1lb on I get so upset.

Likewise for me. I have a very uneasy relationship with the scales, especially when their 'judgement' of me is a simple number.

Someday, I'd like to be comfortable weighing often and just observing normal daily fluctuations without judging myself.

Someday

My way of dealing with the wobble inducing scales is to trust absolutely to the process of Bootcamp and just not deviate from it.

The fit of my clothes tells me everything I need to know. Once a month I visit the gym to use an InBody scale which in addition to weight shows break down by muscle, fat and water to provide an objective confirmation of what my clothes have already told me.

This smooths out the fluctuations and so far has always been a good news story. Even the months where my overall weight has essentially stayed the same or reduced by minuscule amounts of 100grammes I have been reassured by seeing fat reducing and muscle increasing.

Even this, it took me three months to start weighing at all. Now of course, I wish I had been brave enough to measure myself at what turned out to be the top of my weight cycle. At the time, however, my reaction to seeing my weight was seriously to eat all the pies so I'd had several years (who am I kidding, decades) of significantly increasing

The things we do to ourselves. And the help that has been Bootcamp. Priceless.

CarbONothing · 31/10/2024 10:17

I've been offered a £20 subscription to Second Nature, an app coaching, weight loss thing.

Anyone come across this before?

I'm very happy trusting the process here! The big thing I'm doing is whilst I'm feeling strong is acknowledging small set backs and difficulties. I congratulate myself for reaching for a pot of herbal tea rather than wine/cereal/crisps.
I'm hoping next time something big turns up, I'll continue to just put the kettle on rather than look for the solution at the bottom of the biscuit packet.

BIWI · 31/10/2024 10:19

If it's working for you here, then why spend £20?!

That said, there's also a psychological component at play, in that if you've paid for something, there's 'pain' in non-compliance.

Crazy traffic meant we had to change plans last night and ate out very locally with fewer appealing choices. I had to brave ordering the dirty burger with no fries, no bun, extra salad. It was really good, nicely presented, would have taken more salad ideally and the dressing was a really sweet balsamic thing but overall not a disaster. Lots of sparkling water.

Rayna37 · 31/10/2024 12:34

Today: B: 2 eggs
L: salad with corned beef, yogurt.
Short of time later between work, Halloween stuff and packing for a trip but will probably be an omelette.

NSV (non scale victory) today, my trousers feel loser!

Floralnomad · 31/10/2024 13:02

B: FFGY
L : green salad and chicken drumsticks
D : chicken with veg
My weight loss seems to have stalled now but I have been doing this for a few weeks as I started early and have lost over a stone in total .

LCagain · 31/10/2024 13:46

Just listening to a podcast on anxiety which was mentioning alternative ways of calming yourself including humming which I've not heard before - I think my relationship with food is based to an extent on rewarding/calming myself, so interested to reflect on this further at the same time as getting back into LC!

NoCarbsForMe · 31/10/2024 15:02

B coffee with cream & collagen

L 3 egg omelette fried in butter, half an avo with spring onions & Pepper chopped into eggs.

"love" tea by pukka (so nice!)

D will be tuna steak, green beans, spinach and avocado mayo

I need to increase my water intake!

Fairnair · 31/10/2024 15:27

Good afternoon everyone

Today’s food almost the same as yesterday, but tonight’s portion of chilli (no kidney beans in it) served with celeriac fries, not sure how many I am going to get from a very small celeriac.

Breakfast: FFGY with a little double cream & bit of Vailla bean extract
Lunch: chicken legs, & salad
Tea: Beef Chilli topped with some cheese, advocado, salad & celeriac fries.

Have managed to bag up the Halloween sweets into treat bags without eating any, have had the treats for a few weeks, but kept in my car so I would not eat them.

UnOeufIsEnough · 31/10/2024 15:49

Afternoon all,

I've just dumped a load of Halloween sweets into a bowl for the guisers later and I'm not tempted by them at all!

B: scrambled eggs and avocado with creamy coffee
L: tomato and chorizo soup with a couple of boiled eggs and butter
D: beef stew with neeps, mushrooms and broccoli

Water isn't going so well so working my way through another litre bottle!

SpinningTops · 31/10/2024 16:03

I've finally succumbed to the sickness bug that's been going around my family.

Not much appetite for anything high fat. All I've eaten since yesterday lunch is some FFGY.

I might have some toast later and get back on the bootcamp train once better.

ReconstructionSite · 31/10/2024 17:06

B - FFGY and a splash of cream
L - leftover asparagus frittata and salad
D - ratatouille, mozzarella and salmon

Dinner is a bit random today, as I planned to cook a slightly complicated butter paneer dish but we then spontaneously decided to repaint the kitchen, so I needed to be inventive to minimise kitchen faff! The joys of being off for half term and suddenly feeling productive 😁

CarbONothing · 31/10/2024 17:14

First derail.
Went to a tea room and for the sake of politeness,.modelling good behaviour and being a good sport I've eaten a whole bloody scone.
The tea was a a delicious oolong, so no milk but I feel like I've eaten an entire roast dinner.

Tomorrow I shall be skipping breakfast, booked a restaurant for lunch and I've already clocked the menu and have a beef chilli ready prepared in case we need an evening meal.

I feel like a post cream tea nap. I can't go back to living like that. I've felt so alive the last few days.

SemmaLina · 31/10/2024 19:41

Feeling shattered and achey today ( I think it’s the result of the Covid jab ) and all I wanted was biscuits, icecream and fizzy drinks , luckily we don’t have any in the house and I was too knackered to get in the car and get some
DH dragged me out for a walk , I’ve had a sit down and feeling better ish

No breakfast ,felt awful
L cheese and bacon omlette and a big green salad
D salmon fillet with green beans , creamy leeks , shallots and mushrooms
Probably not enough food , but the best I could do today

Hope you’re feeling better @SpinningTops keep the liquids topped up
