Morning all!

Here's the spreadsheet

Four important things:

  1. You don't have to be on the spreadsheet if you don't want to - so if your name is there and you want it taken off, let @FinallyHere know, and she will remove it
  2. If you've signed up, but your name isn't there, again, let @FinallyHere know and she will add you
  3. Just add your weight and don't touch any of the other cells!
  4. If you're using your phone for Mumsnet, you'll need to download the Google Sheets app
For Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.docs.editors.sheets&hl=en-US For apple iPhone: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/google-sheets/id842849113

If you don't want to be on the spreadsheet that's perfectly fine, but please make sure you check out all the resources that on there, on the different tabs. Most critical of all, of course, is the tab with the rules. But there's also loads of information about low carbing, carb counts for various things (including the veg carb counter, which is important), and various different plans and recipes that might help you.

And a massive thank you to @FinallyHere for managing this Flowers

Morning campers!
Ive ordered the 3 recipe books recommended by biwi from Amazon and hope they arrive today as I’m getting a bit bored of my usual fare. Also have SIL arriving tonight for 2 weeks and all 3 DDs home so think I’ll be doing a lot of cooking. Always find it time consuming doing 3 meals a day for everyone and not able to just do sandwiches for them. Summer is much easier!
@Okaygoahead whats ‘bimi’ please?

Okaygoahead · 23/10/2024 07:29

@NotDonna itt‘s broccolini/tenderstem broccoli. I now see, having googled, that it’s actually a brand name - not a fan of fruit or vegetables being trademarked! My supermarket and many local recipes (I’m not in the UK) just seem to use the trademark as the common name, like hoover I guess.

Morning all. Ended up with full English for lunch yesterday but donated the toast and baked beans to DS! I was a bit hungry at bed time last night so planning to have nore veg with dinner tonight to see if that helps.

I've had buttery scrambled egg and avo this morning (I love butter!) And coffee. Plan is tuna mayo salad for lunch and then traybake for dinner (rice for the rest of the family) and FLGV.

My day with both DC at home so send me strength not to end up snacking on carby stuff!

Fairnair · 23/10/2024 10:18

Good morning everyone, hope you are all doing well.

Breakfast: FFGY with a tsp of double cream & tsp of vanilla essence

Lunch: Chicken legs & salad

Dinner/Tea: Probably the tea I had planned for yesterday, sausage casserole & swede mash as husband & I fancied chicken legs & thighs with celeriac chips & salad last night instead.

Need to up my water game, not drinking enough of it at the moment. Do drink some cups of black coffee (made with a bean to cup machine) though.

If you're still hungry, add more protein and/or fat, rather than veg (assuming, of course, that you're already eating plenty of veg/salad?)

Adding too much veg will up your carbs, and this is what will result in you feeling hungry, as your blood sugar levels will start to go 'out of whack'. Whereas if you add more protein/fat this won't happen.

(Of course, there's nothing wrong with being hungry at mealtimes)

Up again this morning, sigh, but having to trust the process as I know it works.........assume it's the last few weeks coming back to bite me but I've become very used to seeing an 11 on the scales!
Breakfast of creamy scrambled eggs with salmon, lunch will be leftover cottage pie from last night and dinner will be a chicken thigh traybake with tomatoes, peppers, cauliflower and spicing of some sort (depending on how I feel later!).
Struggling with motivation this week (not for BC but everything else!), now that DD is away at uni it's just me during the day and whilst I have good intentions re: leaving the house the only option really is to work from Costa or some such which is both spendy and difficult to keep to BC doing that..............also it's been so gloomy and miserable that getting out for a walk has been impossible, so tempting to hole up and binge watch Netflix!
@NotDonna guests for 2 weeks sounds very stressful, I can manage a few days but that's enough 😊

Rayna37 · 23/10/2024 11:20

I used my Be-Ro book just last week! My mum has one from the 70's I'd guess, mine which she gave me is maybe 20-25 years old!

Floralnomad · 23/10/2024 16:09

I’ve had FFGY for breakfast , chicken drumsticks and salad for lunch and a chicken , bacon and leek bake with broccoli for dinner . I haven’t snacked as yet and generally don’t and always drink gallons . I’ve been for a walk ( to the shop) and will have a go on the treadmill later .

BIWI · 23/10/2024 16:13

Went for my Covid booster today, and when it had been done, the pharmacist told me to make sure I drank plenty of water today. Just as well I am!

@BIWI I had my Covid and flu vaccine on Saturday and felt terrible afterwards so good luck .

BIWI · 23/10/2024 17:07

I was due to have both today, but decided against that. So far so good - my arm isn't even sore (yet).

Going for my flu next week. Previously that's been the one that made me feel worse, so hopefully it won't be next time.

Floralnomad · 23/10/2024 17:51

it was the covid one that was really sore for me , I’ve never had an issue before and I’ve had loads of covid ones before .

BIWI · 23/10/2024 18:48

Tonight is a halloumi traybake.

Two packs of halloumi (never know if one or both DC will be eating with us!), red/yellow/green pepper, shallots, garlic, chillies, leeks, broccoli and a bit of carrot that needed to be used up. With the last of the cherry tomatoes I grew, and some fresh basil. Lots of olive oil.

Okaygoahead · 23/10/2024 18:50

FFGY and a hard-boiled egg for breakfast, shared a boneless pork chop for lunch with sauerkraut and also fried mushrooms tossed with Roquefort. Cabbage soup with added cooked chicken breast and parmesan for supper. Lots of salad. Lots of water! Snacks of cheese (I always have a dip around 4:30; of course in the past it’s been the time to have something sweet but now it’s cheese).

I’m experimenting with water tracking apps - downloaded Waterllama but not sure I need/want loads of cute stickers and widgets and badges 🤣

Thank you for the link. I love old recipe books!

What is the best low carb yoghurt? I can't find one less than 3.7 g/ 100g .

And what is the best mayonnaise? Does it matter if it's made with rapeseed oil?

Is Black Farmer @ £3.50 for 400g the best low carb sausage (1g/ 100g)

So far - 2 tablespoons cream and then 3 eggs with Boursin for breakfast

Calamari with tomato/courgette/mushrooms + Greek yoghurt for lunch

am catching up on fluid as fell asleep this afternoon

islandtiger · 23/10/2024 19:20

Better day today although Skipped breakfast to go swimming which I will try not to do in future. Or at least take a hard boiled egg with me to stave off hunger pangs after. Had a flat white which was probably too much milk! Lunch was chicken and cabbage soup it's an Ottolenghi recipe, full of ginger, cinnamon sticks, star anise, garlic and spices, I will post on the recipe thread tomorrow if anyone likes the sound of it. Worth the effort as a pot does six good bowlfuls. Snacked on a few bits of chorizo and a gherkin as we are a bit late cooking. Supper will be grilled haloumi salad, with lettuce, avocado, peppers and anything else we can find. Doing ok on the water, and enjoying rosehip tea at night which I'm sure helps my blood pressure alongside the no alcohol! Trying to get all the water down by 8pm latest. I have been up and down to the loo the last few nights. Anyone else have middle of the night cravings? I have resorted to a small cube of cheddar, instead of the usual biscuit!

50by40 · 23/10/2024 19:34

@BIWI that sounds delicious. Keep mine warm in the oven whilst I get my coat!

CleanQueen123 · 23/10/2024 20:02

Basa, green beans and bacon, with roasted cauliflower and celeriac for me tonight. Didn't quite get the flavour balance right so it was quite spicy but salty at the same time, but hey, you can't win them all!

SemmaLina · 23/10/2024 20:15

Forgot to buy eggs , which was stupid of me , but had a good day

I just can’t cope with eating breakfast some days ( hides from @BIWI ) so just had black coffee (I used to do B& B and holiday cottage and never had time to eat first thing , and just sort of got used to it )

Lunch was a lovely oily tuna salad with avocado , lots of salad leaves , spring onions , spoonful of hellmans and homemade vinaigrette
Dinner , salmon fillet with Cavolo Nero , mushrooms , leftover cauliflower cheese all stir fried with some double cream , was really lovely ,

Planning the chicken pie linked upthread for tomorrow night , as I have a legs , bums and tums class at 6-30 and DH cooks ( heats up )

I have Covid and flu jab booked for next Wednesday , not sure whether to get them both done or space then out ( might just get them both at the same time and save hanging round at the Drs ! )

CarbONothing · 23/10/2024 20:52

I need to put haloumi on the meal plan.

Swim - yes
Yoga - yes
Licking the bowl from DD's cake making - no!
Food - FFGY, soup & curry veg - yes

Rayna37 · 23/10/2024 21:14

Started the day with a swim (30 mins, very slow breaststroke) then 2 boiled eggs mid morning.
Lunch was salad (spinach, tomato, cucumber, radishes, a bit of yellow pepper that was hanging about) with salmon and mayo, and a Greek yogurt- I usually decant from a big pot but this week I gave the individual ones from Lidl which makes lunch prep quicker.
Dinner was a pork shoulder steak, sauce of shallot/mushroom/creme fraiche/wholegrain mustard and lots of veg. Really good.

Cheeseburger Pie tomorrow, a bootcamp classic!

Rayna37 · 23/10/2024 21:21

@Gunnersforthecup I made a whole thread about yogurt once Grin 3.7g is fine. I aim to keep it under 4g but don't worry if one week I end up in a shop where the Greek Yogurt is 4.2g or something. I tend to eat it as a small portion for "pudding" as part of a meal, not a big portion as a whole breakfast in itself though; it could add up if you get through a lot.
