Morning all!

Here's the spreadsheet

Four important things:

  1. You don't have to be on the spreadsheet if you don't want to - so if your name is there and you want it taken off, let @FinallyHere know, and she will remove it
  2. If you've signed up, but your name isn't there, again, let @FinallyHere know and she will add you
  3. Just add your weight and don't touch any of the other cells!
  4. If you're using your phone for Mumsnet, you'll need to download the Google Sheets app
For Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.docs.editors.sheets&hl=en-US For apple iPhone: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/google-sheets/id842849113

If you don't want to be on the spreadsheet that's perfectly fine, but please make sure you check out all the resources that on there, on the different tabs. Most critical of all, of course, is the tab with the rules. But there's also loads of information about low carbing, carb counts for various things (including the veg carb counter, which is important), and various different plans and recipes that might help you.

And a massive thank you to @FinallyHere for managing this Flowers

Thank-you for the inspiring start BIWI!

Low carb works - I know this of old.

I'm not weighing but need to loosen my waistbands and win back some room in my winter coats.

Due to unusual pressure here, I've had about 6 months of eating 'normally' - and still need to address what is meant by that.

'Normally' turns out to be very bad for me.
( If my only my problems required me to be bolstered with a cushioned exterior!)

I ask too much of food in the way of support. I should know better.

ReconstructionSite · 21/10/2024 11:39

Morning all!

I'm starting next week due to a few days away at the end of this week, but looking forward to seeing all your progress this week. I'll add my starting weight next week, as I suspect I will be heavier after my weekend away 🫣

Rayna37 · 21/10/2024 11:47

Getting going on the water now my long drive is done- for new starters don't underestimate the importance of that! I track using the Waterlogged app, but however you track it, keep it up!

BIWI · 21/10/2024 11:58

If anyone needs any inspiration for meals, beyond the low carb recipe thread on MN, I can really recommend Monya Kilian Palmer's books.

Not all the recipes work with the first two weeks of Bootcamp, as she does use nuts/seeds, but generally they're well written and easy recipes - as well as delicious.

This week, tired of cooking the same meals, I'm making three of her recipes:

Chicken and leek 'pie'
Chicken and saag with paneer
Creamy leek and Camembert eggs

... all from The Quick Keto Kitchen

Morning all, starting officially today! Cut down the carbs last week in preparation. I did low carb about 10 years ago and had great results.
Looking at this long term now though as well as needing to lose weight I have adhd and an autoimmune condition both of which low carb is proven to help.

50by40 · 21/10/2024 13:11

Afternoon all. Thanks as ever to @BIWI and @finallyhere. Not had chance to enter my details in the spreadsheet yet but will this evening.

Like a lot of others breakfast was FFGY with some cinnamon. Lunch a chicken and avocado salad with mayo. Dinner some leftovers but without the cous cous it was originally served with!

Need to up the water intake, I'd forgotten about that and don't wany @BIWI To hit me with her big stick so early on!

VeryGoodVeryNice · 21/10/2024 13:26

Weighed in this morning so I got that right (the spreadsheet is a lot easier on a laptop for anyone struggling on a phone like I was). BUT fell at the first hurdle by meeting a friend for breakfast, and the cafe had nothing even remotely LC and I was starving, so I’m starting properly this evening.

I did spend the weekend batch cooking some LC stuff for the freezer though, so I am committed! The cauliflower and leek gratin on the vegetarian recipes thread is really good. Stir fried veg with cauliflower rice for tea tonight.

ABirdsEyeView · 21/10/2024 13:32

Hi all,
Haven't decided whether to weigh or not. I'm torn between not wanting to be scared by the answer and the realisation that not knowing doesn't make it go away!
If I do weigh, I will do it tomorrow morning, when the house isn't full of people!
Am very much looking forward to this bootcamp - thank you

LiesDoNotBecomeUs · 21/10/2024 13:40

B -eggs scrambled in olive oil + coffee and teasp butter whisked in
L -leek and celeriac soup (shallot - veg stock - leeks - celeriac - olive oil)
D -plan: sausage and veg casserole (with rice for the carbers in the family)

Thanks for the reminder about Monya Palmer's books @BIWI

Half way through the water so far.

StuntNun · 21/10/2024 13:41

I was thwarted at the off by somebody "kindly" buying me a sausage roll this morning and it wasn't even nice. Angry Unfortunately there was no polite way to get out of eating it but I left as much of the pastry as I could. I'm back on track now with crab and prawn soup for lunch. Dinner will be a pork chop and veggies, probably courgette fried in butter and celery braised in stock.

Bex5490 · 21/10/2024 14:04

Hey all - I lost 10 pounds last bootcamp and have put it all back on but determined to be more disciplined when bootcamp ends this time.

Good Luck Everyone! ❤️

Gunnersforthecup · 21/10/2024 15:12

I have lost my scales and am reluctant to buy new ones.

I will keep an eye out!

So far - 3 boiled eggs, half a teaspoon of mayo and 3 large mugs of extremely weak tea with unsweetened almond milk.

Am considering some cheese and celery and more weak tea.

We have steak, fish and chicken as options, 🤔

BIWI · 21/10/2024 15:26

Don't forget the veg @Gunnersforthecup!

UnOeufIsEnough · 21/10/2024 15:44

Here we go!

I've been away for a long weekend and found our location really difficult to low carb, which is unusual as I usually find something to adapt. The carb-related water weight has done some damage but hoping it falls off easily this week now I'm back on board.

My weight loss slowed down to 0.25lb a week so I'm needing a reset and a boost!

Gunnersforthecup · 21/10/2024 15:49

just downed 3 more mugs of luke warm water, oh joy.

and have had ham, celery and cheese, though not hungry really.

edited to ask - are we allowed radishes?

BIWI · 21/10/2024 16:41

There's a veg carb counter on the spreadsheet which will answer that question @Gunnersforthecup!

(But yes, they are very low carb at only 1.4g carbs per 100g)

OP posts:
BIWI · 21/10/2024 16:43

Seriously - and for everyone else's information - please check the spreadsheet out. There's a veg carb counter which is traffic-light-colour coordinated, so you can see at a glance which veg you can embrace fully and which you need to swerve as much as you can.

Orange158C · 21/10/2024 17:20

Thanks @BIWI. Very very new to all this, and unsure if I have filled in the correct column on the spreadsheet. If I've messed up, then today's starting weight is in column E.

Breakfast of FFGY.
Lunch of crudités and full fat soft cheese.
Tea, coffee with cream and 500ml water so far.
Dinner will be homemade burger, loads of veg and salad, more water.

Hope this is how everything works.

FinallyHere · 21/10/2024 18:00

Welcome @Orange158C

Sorted that for you.

Okaygoahead · 21/10/2024 18:06

@FinallyHere may I ask to be added to the spreadsheet? Thanks!

sorted. Welcome aboard

islandtiger · 21/10/2024 18:27

Lovely to see some familiar names. And welcome to the new ones. I first tried this WOE last year with the excellent guidance of @BIWI and others support on this thread. I lost nearly a stone and felt so much better for avoiding processed sugar, alcohol and bread in particular. Like many here, life got in the way of low carbing in the summer but excited to get back on course. We've had a good day with eggs fried in butter for breakfast, mozzarella, tomato and avocado salad with olive oil for lunch and a miso sachet soup and we are about to have steak with green beans. @Comeonyoublues lost nearly two stone with this WOE so I'm delighted he's here too this time to keep me on the straight and narrow. Good luck everyone

UnOeufIsEnough · 21/10/2024 18:35

I had cod for dinner tonight pan fried in olive oil and butter with tenderstem broccoli and asparagus with a wee bit of chilli and lemon juice. Really easy but delicious!

Still working on the water! 💦

CarbONothing · 21/10/2024 18:43

Walk - yes!
Swim - yea!
Meal plan stuck to - yes!

Could drink more water
Have weighed and as a bonus taken my blood pressure, I will take either reducing as a win.

Rayna37 · 21/10/2024 18:53

Struck gold tonight at an Italian of all places! Deboned half chicken (lots of delicious skin) in a wild mushroom, wine and pancetta sauce. Swapped Parmesan mash for tender stem broccoli. Olives to start and 500ml sparkling water to reach my goal!

I'm well versed at navigating a premier inn breakfast while low carbing and this one iirc cooks the hot food to order which is a bonus, so the morning should be fine.

Might even do some hotel room Yoga with Adriene.
