Morning all!

Here's the spreadsheet

Four important things:

  1. You don't have to be on the spreadsheet if you don't want to - so if your name is there and you want it taken off, let @FinallyHere know, and she will remove it
  2. If you've signed up, but your name isn't there, again, let @FinallyHere know and she will add you
  3. Just add your weight and don't touch any of the other cells!
  4. If you're using your phone for Mumsnet, you'll need to download the Google Sheets app
For Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.docs.editors.sheets&hl=en-US For apple iPhone: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/google-sheets/id842849113

If you don't want to be on the spreadsheet that's perfectly fine, but please make sure you check out all the resources that on there, on the different tabs. Most critical of all, of course, is the tab with the rules. But there's also loads of information about low carbing, carb counts for various things (including the veg carb counter, which is important), and various different plans and recipes that might help you.

And a massive thank you to @FinallyHere for managing this Flowers

Breakfast - some smoked salmon and goat cheese
Lunch - cream of broccoli soup, steamed bimi broccoli with olive oil and lemon, slice of ham and some green salad
Snack - hard-boiled egg
Dinner - baked trout, mushrooms and peppers cooked in olive oil, more bimi, more salad
Water, water, water. Am just under 3L now and will be over the top with my evening herbal tea

Orange158C · 21/10/2024 19:27

Thank you @FinallyHere .

pinknsparkly · 21/10/2024 19:31

I'm very pleasantly surprised by my weigh in today. It's the same as I was 6 weeks ago, before I started back at work after maternity leave. I definitely would have expected stress eating to have made things worse (or maybe the manic rushing to make school and nursery pick ups cancelled that out!).

Food today has been a bit of a fridge tapas affair.... cheese, chicken, avocado, celery, cucumber, sausage and lots of salted black coffee!

Gunnersforthecup · 21/10/2024 19:43

What is FFGY?

Also, I am avoiding tomatoes, green beans, onions and carrots, is that right 🤔?

Full fat Greek yogurt - I aim for a 10% fat one and then add a splash of double cream.

I eat green beans but perhaps I need to check that.

I think the others are better to avoid but I eat onions in things like bolognese as figure it will be such a small amount. Shallots are lower carb but I find them infuriating to peel!

Gunnersforthecup · 21/10/2024 19:49

I have found the carb counter! So I can have green beans, spring onions, peppers and tomatoes. Great!

Nevertoomanyfluffies · 21/10/2024 20:23

Thankyou for bootcamp @BIWI and the spreadsheet @FinallyHere . I've tried and failed over the years (mainly due to not cracking the chocolate habit I think) but at the April/may bootcamp things finally clicked into place and I lost 10 pounds and even better managed to maintain it. I need the discipline of a bootcamp to get the weight loss going again.

prettybird · 21/10/2024 20:23

Signing in at the ShockShockShockBlushBlushBlushSadSadSad weight of 13st 7lb SadSad, which is up 2 stone ShockBlush

This is mostly down to high stress because of my BB (Bastard Brother for newbies Wink) and a newly developed addiction to jelly beans Blush

On a positive note, I've had a really good day: plenty of water, lots of Rooibos, no snacks and finally l feeling good and focussed.

Dh is mostly joining me for the 1st 2 weeks of Boot Camp, which will help. He does his own version but is happy to support me with not drinking any alcohol for c2 weeks.

Nevertoomanyfluffies · 21/10/2024 20:26

Coffee and cream for breakfast as I've eaten this way for a long time I'm not hungry in the morning
Lunch was leftover chicken pie mix made for the family (no oastry for me of course) with cream, mushrooms, leek and served with lots of broccoli
Dinner was a frittata with veg and kimchi
Lots of water too

ABirdsEyeView · 21/10/2024 21:34

Have made a low carb quiche ready for tomorrow. Have decided to give up alcohol completely until Christmas - am finding that even one glass of wine is making the skin on my face hurt, which is very weird. The older I get, the more the effects of drinking seem like more hassle than it's worth, so glad to have the 'push' to stop for a while.

Lougle · 21/10/2024 21:38

Joining late this evening. I need to get organised (even though I was on the preparation thread).

Goodiewhemper · 22/10/2024 05:41

Good morning to all boot campers and I hope you all had a great day yesterday. I weighted in yesterday at 79.1kg so just over 2kg up from the end of the last boot camp. I desperately need that reset so thank you to @BIWI and @finallyhere for all your work.

My initial target is 75kg but I would really like to get down to 70-72kg. I really need to tackle my visceral fat so once I find the tape measure I will set my target for that.

Yesterday was good. I had my coffee with cream to start the day and then had a green smoothie (spinach, cucumber, avocado, mint with no sugar soya milk and a tsp of protein powder) and a piece of cloud bread.

Lunch was a tuna and egg salad and soup (fennel, celery, courgette, leek, green pepper roasted and blended with veg stock, dill and a little sour cream).

Dinner was left over pork served with mushrooms and a little sour cream.

A had a mid afternoon snack of salami and a small piece of cheese. I drank my water and resisted all the goodies in the staff kitchen.

I have just had my.mormomg coffee. Breakfast today with be as yesterday and lunch will be the same soup but with a mackerel and egg salad.

Dinner will be grilled chicken with butter and sage served with either cabbage or broccoli.

Have a great day everyone.

50by40 · 22/10/2024 08:09

Morning everyone. FFGY with cinnamon and coffee with a dash of whole milk for breakfast. And a pint of water of course!

Not sure what lunch will be, as I'm meeting a friend for lunch (making the most of the last weeks of my mat leave). Dinner is chicken curry with aubergines, mushrooms and pepper. I'll be abstaining from the naan though, which DH will be wolfing down no doubt.

Loving hearing everyone's meals, helps with ideas of what to eat 😋

Have a good day!

ABirdsEyeView · 22/10/2024 09:50

Just weighed - eek! The heaviest I've ever been I think.

Okaygoahead · 22/10/2024 09:51

Already clocked a mini-whoosh this morning, all the water yesterday did its job as advertised! Breakfast some FFGY and half an avocado that probably hit its peak 3 days ago...other half will feature at lunch, as it's not getting any younger.

alwaysonadiet1 · 22/10/2024 09:54

@prettybird hope you are making progress with your BB problem. I'm looking forward to seeing photos of your table set for dinner again. It always looks so inviting. Step away from the jelly beans! I fell into a sugar trap last week too. I bought fizzy sweets for Halloween but they haven't made it to Halloween. I've now replaced them with other sweets which I can resist. 🙈

Celebrated a bit early unfortunately, 5lb up this morning on yesterday so didn't dodge my week off bullet after all, should have known really!
More herbal tea this morning, then peppers and tomatoes in butter with poached eggs for lunch, and the plan is for cottage pie for dinner with broccoli and cauliflower mash instead of potato - need to plan the rest of the week whilst working and binge-watching Rivals 😀

ABirdsEyeView · 22/10/2024 10:26

Thank you @BIWI

@TheOnlyMrsW I watched the first episode of Rivals yesterday. OMG it's sooo good. I had my doubts about a non blond RCB and I always pictured Taggie as looking like a young Kate Bush, but actually the casting is perfect. Love Aidan Turner as Declan!

Fairnair · 22/10/2024 10:43

Good morning everyone. I had some FFGY with some vanilla essence in for breakfast.

Will probably have some scrambled eggs & veg such as asparagus or spinich for lunch.

Not sure for tea yet, have some Morrisons sausages which are high meat content, need to double check the carbs, think they are fairly low as they are marked gluten free so don’t have loads of filler ingredients in them. I could make a casserole with swede mash.

Tea yesterday was Mousakka rather than the planned lamb shepherd’s pie with swede mash as I had an aubergine that needed using, served with green salad & olives.

Have a good day x

somanylights · 22/10/2024 10:59

Morning all, and thank you to BIWI for doing another bootcamp; I love how supportive this group is!
Currently sat in a hospital bed having just had a minor procedure, but brought loads of lovely LC food with me (plus it's easy to resist hospital mashed potatoes...).
Measuring weight is a bit meaningless for me (too affected by all the other nonsense going on in my body), but I'll record it anyway out of interest. Have stuck to LC since starting in March because I love how good it makes me feel. I really notice the negative effects of too many carbs now; if I have too many nuts for example (when not in BC!) I get really dizzy. Does anyone else experience this?

Absolutely loving it, I was worried about RCB being dark-haired but really works! The soundtrack is amazing!

If anyone needs any inspiration for meals, beyond the low carb recipe thread on MN, I can really recommend Monya Kilian Palmer's books.

Not all the recipes work with the first two weeks of Bootcamp, as she does use nuts/seeds, but generally they're well written and easy recipes - as well as delicious.

This week, tired of cooking the same meals, I'm making three of her recipes:

Chicken and leek 'pie'
Chicken and saag with paneer
Creamy leek and Camembert eggs

... all from The Quick Keto Kitchen

Book looks fantastic @BIWI
Here today for the water reminders, really find it difficult to get into a hydration routine initially.

Magnolia82 · 22/10/2024 12:53

Hi all.
@BIWI Thank you for running another boot camp. I've been mainly low carb for I think (?) around a year now, but been experimenting with adding in some healthy carbs (legumes, etc) for the last few weeks.

I'm keen to do a few weeks of strict low carb again for the duration of boot camp. However, for full accountability, I'm not able to 'officially' start until next week, due to long-standing half term plans. (I don't eat many carbs anyway, but unlikely to be able to post again until next week.)

Well done everyone for a good start and am looking forward to hearing everyone's successes!

BIWI · 22/10/2024 13:06

Well I can report back that the chicken, leek and mushroom pie was excellent.

The recipe says it will make servings of 4-6, and you can make them individually or in one dish; I did the latter. I'd say that it would really only serve 6 if you did a few side dishes.

Essentially, it's 4 chicken thighs, chopped and fried in butter. Then roughly 1 large leek and 2/3 punnet of mushrooms, fried in butter with garlic and thyme. Add the whole lot together, and then add double cream and sour cream. All of this goes in your pie dish(es).

The mash is made from boiled and mashed cauliflower, into which you add (more!) sour cream and grated extra mature cheddar. Top the mash with extra cheese and bake in the oven until the topping is browned.

It was delicious, and very rich. I served it (as suggested) with a green salad - in this case, simply round lettuce with a red wine vinaigrette dressing.

If you have an issue with dairy, clearly this isn't a recipe for you! But if you don't, I can highly recommend it.
