Morning all!

Here's the spreadsheet

Four important things:

  1. You don't have to be on the spreadsheet if you don't want to - so if your name is there and you want it taken off, let @FinallyHere know, and she will remove it
  2. If you've signed up, but your name isn't there, again, let @FinallyHere know and she will add you
  3. Just add your weight and don't touch any of the other cells!
  4. If you're using your phone for Mumsnet, you'll need to download the Google Sheets app
For Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.docs.editors.sheets&hl=en-US For apple iPhone: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/google-sheets/id842849113

If you don't want to be on the spreadsheet that's perfectly fine, but please make sure you check out all the resources that on there, on the different tabs. Most critical of all, of course, is the tab with the rules. But there's also loads of information about low carbing, carb counts for various things (including the veg carb counter, which is important), and various different plans and recipes that might help you.

And a massive thank you to @FinallyHere for managing this Flowers

Ooh, I'm going to try that leek tip! I quite like celeriac mash but I often feel I have to psych myself up for it as the flavour is so distinctive.

Same! I find it's one of those things I have to be in the mood for.

Nightvax · 26/10/2024 09:38

@FinallyHere ive entered my weight on the spreadsheet but not sure if I’ve done it correctly, its 204lbs if you’re able to check when you have a few minutes please

Nightvax · 26/10/2024 09:39

I’ve never tried celeriac and have always been put off by its appearance too but think I’ll give it a try!

prettybird · 26/10/2024 09:57

Key with celeriac is to use a very big knife to cut it into thick slices/chunks and to also use the same big knife to not too delicately slice off the skin.

You can then cut into chips or thin slices as required.

I'm a real convert - and so is dh Smile

Thank you for calling that out @Nightvax

It's all good and I've added your '204' to

  • the starting weight (column d) and
  • the original weight (column c).

I've added today's date to 'original start date' column b, so you will get sensible results for the weight loss calculations.

If you do want to weigh in again on Monday, please feel free to overwrite the '204' you added to the 28th Oct Week 2 column.

A bit of a disaster last night , met a friend for a drink and dinner ( I’d planned sparkling water ) I was a bit late and she’d already bought us a bottle of wine
went to the bar to order the food , only to find out they don’t serve food any more , it’s just a drinking pub , so I had a bag of twiglets as the least worst option ( no pork scratchings )
I was starving when I got home , so had a bit of cheddar and loads of water
Not surprisingly I slept really badly

I had Bootcamp booked for 9 am , and was tempted to cancel , but I went , got through it in one piece and had a lovely brunch when I got home of crispy bacon , mushrooms , spinach and fried eggs , loads of water and feeling back on top form now

Off to the shops with a sensible shopping list , and a nice easy early dinner planned , can’t miss Strictly !

Not letting one big blip put me off

NotDonna · 26/10/2024 16:22

@FinallyHere im not sure what I’m looking at but I can only see a huge navy blue E column then in white as usual the F, G, H etc for the following weeks but no start weight or any columns prior to the dark blue E. It’s probably me but I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. Thank you 🙏🏼

NotDonna · 26/10/2024 16:25

ah ignore me the other columns were hiding behind the dark blue and I can scroll them in & out.

@FinallyHere Not sure how I’ve managed to lose 152.2 lbs already though? Have I entered it in the wrong column? Sorry!

Rayna37 · 26/10/2024 17:27

Another one here who never went long without food until bootcamp. This morning I went off with DH to a parkrun, popped in to the shops to pick a few bits up apologies to my little boy who I'd forgotten to pack underwear for and eventually made it back to where we're staying for a bath and had bacon, eggs, mushrooms and sausage at 12!

Driving tonight so hoping for some decent options for food.

SpinningTops · 26/10/2024 18:40

I made the chicken pie from upthread for dinner.
Very tasty but looked a mess on the plate 🤣. I wouldn't win many points if I were on come dine with me.

I have a child who is allergic to milk so all these creamy and buttery meals mean I have to make double meals. I think that's what's stopped me continuing in the past - just cooking exhaustion.

I got this pasta sauce from M&S for when I need a convenient meal, thought it would be good with roasted veg of some kind. I know it's best to avoid processed but good for a busy evening hopefully.

That sauce does look good 😋😋😋

FFGY for breakfast, then a long delayed lunch, but at least I wasn't too hungry. Grilled halloumi on salad. Duck breast and green beans for dinner (everyone else added rice). Water goal safely met!

CarbONothing · 26/10/2024 21:49

Swim & walk - yes
Soup as always
Burgers from a Dr Moseley book with celeriac chips
Not tempted by DD's chips or choc souffle!
And no alcohol, that's been ok to.

UnOeufIsEnough · 26/10/2024 22:41

Hope you've all had a good Saturday!

I was out to the theatre and dinner tonight. Drove to meet my friends so I wouldn't be tempted by wine! Ordered steak frites but swapped the chips for sugar snap peas. A glass of wine would have been lovely but felt virtuous sticking to fizzy water!

Had a decaf coffee with cream on the way home.

islandtiger · 26/10/2024 23:02

Loving all the food ideas on this thread, must try celeriac mash. With leeks. 😋 I'm sorry I haven't posted that chicken recipe yet but I will tomorrow. Today was fun, I did my first ever park run. I walked, staggered most of it but DH got back into the jogging, we will definitely go again. Such a nice atmosphere. We had a bacon, egg and mushroom fry up for brunch afterwards. Neither of us was very hungry later so supper was just a few different cheeses - manchego, blue cream crease, Gouda. With celery, gherkins, tomatoes and radishes to pick at and a green salad with avocado oil dressing. I'm amazed that I've not had too many cravings for wine but i find one non alcohol tipple at 6 or 7pm very helpful. 0% Gordon's gin with low cal tonic or Mother Root ginger switchel with soda. It is not cheap and I'm sure I could make something similar but it's keeping temptation at bay for the moment

Hi @NotDonna

You correctly logged your current weight in column D 'starting weight 21st October'

You started on 21st October, so your starting weight is the same as your 'original weight'. I've filled in original weight, wiping out the erroneous loss.

Hope that's all perfectly clear now. It does make sense inside my head.

On this page, though, not so much.

CarbONothing · 27/10/2024 07:12

@islandtiger I'm not counting all the pennies at the moment whilst getting on a roll.
I'm not buying alcohol, so I will reach for the attractively packaged overpriced item. I'm not buying cakes so yes to the purple sprouting. It will be interesting to see how it all shakes down in a couple of weeks.

I made a lamb tagine yesterday which is just sitting there, getting better. I'm already looking forward to not thinking about cooking today.

Rayna37 · 27/10/2024 07:39

Excellent meal last night with a big bunch of my oldest friends. I had one 0% beer then a 750ml of sparkling water without even a pang for a glass or 3 of wine; huge progress!

Creamy cheese truffle mushrooms, served on rather than with toast sadly but I left that/gave it away. I asked for no croutons in my chicken Caesar salad main and that was a large filling enjoyable meal. Slow service meant lots of time to chat and no-one wanted puddings which is rare for this group. I didn't want to make a thing of my diet as I'm the smallest by far of the group but no-one batted an eyelid.

LCagain · 27/10/2024 09:33

I'm going to join in from tomorrow. Managed LC most of last year and beginning of this (different username), but dabbled back in the carbs for a long distance running event and haven't managed to get fully back on the horse since, despite knowing how much better I feel on this WOE. Also found I was getting a bit too obsessed with the scales so I will stay off the spreadsheet and try to focus on how I feel and how my clothes fit. Need to dig out all those lovely veggie LC recipes... Thank you BIWI for running it again!

If you're looking for a good 0% alcohol, I can heartily recommend Captain Morgan Spiced Rum. With a slice or two of lime, and sparkling water, it's very palatable. Got me through Dry January! (Can also recommend Tanqueray 0% and Tanqueray Sevilla 0%)

I second the captain morgan tip, really refreshing!
