Pre Christmas 22 Boot Camp: the Final Weigh-In!

prettybird · 12/12/2022 08:16

Good Morning Campers on this cold and crisp morning! Smile Time for the final weigh-in of this Pre-Christmas Boot Camp Xmas Shock. @FinallyHere will be along shortly with the link to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness Xmas Smile

I hope you've enjoyed this Boot Camp and that you've achieved at least some objectives, either or both SVs and NSVs FlowersXmas Smile.

I've certainly enjoyed running it in @BIWI's not quite total Wink absence (I really appreciated her contributions - she has so much knowledge and experience Smile). As well as @BIWI and @FinallyHere's help, I'd also like to thank @StuntNun who also added her knowledge when called upon. And of course, all you lot. The support we give each other is also what helps make these Boot Camps so successful - as well, of course, because this WoE works Xmas Grin

This thread will continue on over Christmas until it fills up (which i doubt, as we've not been as busy as in some previous Boot Camps).

There's still time to lose a few more pounds/kg before Christmas if you want to - I know I still have a target of another few pounds Xmas Shock - but I'll be happy with just one or two as I've already lost over a stone this Boot Camp Xmas Smile (official weigh-in tomorrow after having non-BootCamp compliant supper at my Dad's last night Xmas Blush)

Stilton in & fat off 🤣🤣 absolutely love this image baystard
I’ll weigh myself when we get to my SILs in Sydney in New Year. She will have scales as she mentioned yesterday that her diet plan says ‘daily weighing’. Albeit I may see if I can get a tape measure today as do regret not measuring at beginning of bootcamp.
Yesterdays food was good I think. Lunch out with sharing plates of warm olives (oh my goodness they’re soooo lovely warm), kingfish crudo, venison carpaccio, burrata, then sharing mains of cos with ranch dressing & Parmesan, steak & aubergine thing. There were chickpeas but avoided those. Fizzy water! Also lots of cold peppermint tea which I’m loving. Dinner was a BBQ of kangaroo burgers & big salad of lettuce, mushrooms, peppers, tomatoes, cucumber. More water & 1 Diet Coke. The ranch dressing may have been carby I’m not sure. But in the big scheme of things that’s ok.

comfortablylesslumpy · 20/12/2022 22:39

I wish to complain to the Manager please....

My new jeans I only bought a few weeks ago are now too big. I am going to have to get some more if this carries on..... :D

NotDonna · 21/12/2022 01:12

Buy a belt? Huge congrats!

ditavonteesed · 21/12/2022 07:26

Sounds wonderful @NotDonna
@comfortablylesslumpy are your diamond shoes too tight and your wallet to small for your 50s as well? 😂 well done.
Lovely steak and veg last night.

My coffee machine broke and I needed a new one, struggling to find one but I ended up getting one from hotel chocolate which came with a free velvetiser. I don't normally drink milky drinks but I'm wondering if I grab some almond milk if it's be ok to have the odd cappuccino.

NotDonna · 21/12/2022 08:46

A free velvetiser! Merry Xmas @ditavonteesed My DDs have been nagging for one. But I don’t need a coffee machine, unlucky for them 🤣
Feeling a bit bloated tonight. Had a take away cappuccino for mid morning on our way to look at the waterfalls in the hinterland. It was lovely (both the cappuccino & waterfalls) Heaven knows how carby it was! Lunch back by the sea was another sharing of small plates; octopus romesco, hot wings, brocollini, tuna tartare & avocado, washed down with sparking water. The girls had pizzas. Around 4pm my mouth was so very very lonely so I had 5 strawberries. The first fruit since starting boot camp. They were rather delicious.
Had a BBQ with salad and kebabs tonight from the local butcher - not sure how processed. DH got them. Drank cold mint tea, which after litres and litres this past week, I’m now bored of. Did eye up a low alcohol beer but changed my mind. 😇
Forgot all about buying a tape measure! Currently re-packing as we fly to south Australia tomorrow. The week here has gone so quickly.

FinallyHere · 21/12/2022 11:08

almond milk if it's be ok to have the odd cappuccino.

@ditavonteesed

I usually have a teaspoon of thick double creme in coffee. Occasionally I add several splashes of water to the creme and heat the result up in the 'milk froth-er' for a decent cappuccino.

FinallyHere · 21/12/2022 11:09

Your holiday sounds lovely @NotDonna

The sun is doing it's best today here in Windsor but there is really no strength to it esp on this, the shortest day on this side of the earth.

BIWI · 21/12/2022 13:19

@NotDonna I wouldn't bother weighing yourself on your sister's scales - they almost certainly will be calibrated differently from yours.

And it sounds like you're doing really well with your food - which sounds absolutely delicious!

pinknsparkly · 21/12/2022 20:50

@comfortablylesslumpy I had a similar thing happen this bootcamp, which I've not had so dramatically in previous bootcamps. Around the start/just before (can't really remember exactly!) of this bootcamp I bought two pairs of new work trousers. One size just about fitted but no breathing or bending room so I bought the larger size. Part way through this bootcamp I had to go back and buy the smaller size. They only had one pair in stock and I've been waiting for them to come back in to get a second pair. Popped in today as I was in town and they're still out of stock in that size. I tried on the NEXT size down and they fit! They're a wee bit more snug than I'm comfortable with, but totally fine to wear and not bulging at the seams as I expected. So I bought two pairs to motivate me into ensuring I stick with this WOE! Can't quite work out how on earth I've lost what I'm calling 1.5 dress sizes in one bootcamp especially given that I lost less than 7lb in total....!

NotDonna · 21/12/2022 22:39

The cream v milk thing is interesting isn’t it? So ingrained that cream is ‘bad’. I love coffee with cream but I’d not be able to stop at one. Diluting with with water for the frothed is a great idea. Not that I have a frother - but little hand whisk would work.
Yes, so far it’s been a great break thank you. En route to airport now and arrive Adelaide this evening. Being met by papa & SIL and surprisingly pizzas mentioned, which I’ll need to swerve.

FinallyHere · 22/12/2022 08:11

pizzas mentioned, which I’ll need to swerve.

In extremis, just eat the topping and leave all the 'crust'.

Jollyholibobs · 22/12/2022 08:46

Enjoying the holiday news@NotDonna . it’s great that you are continuing this WOE while away. Shows how sustainable it is long term.

@pinknsparkly thats a really good NSV.

so I am a week in from refinding my motivation. I am 5lbs down from last Thursday’s weigh in and determined to KOKO through Christmas. Christmas Day itself will be a bit carby. I am pescatarian but will have to do a turkey with all the trimmings for the rest of family. From previous experience trying fish for me with the turkey veg does not quite go and is difficult to coordinate without a sous chef! so I have reverted to my standard veg, chestnut and cheese filo tarts for me and the other pescatarian. Chestnuts are very carby but I have zero interest in roast potatoes so will have with all the veg. Starter will be a low carb smoked fish terrine recipe courtesy of a previous years bootcamper. Desert may or may not be resisted. Nice cheese instead may be the best option.

Rubbish day so far as trying to go into the office for final team meet up of the year. Normal train which is a good time not running. Alternative later train cancelled. Now on a stopping local train will take me half the morning to get there. Amusing myself with MN. Grrr.

Thanks to everyone who is continuing to post on this thread. It’s really helpful for me who failed to get properly motivated on the actual BC.

NotDonna · 22/12/2022 13:09

well done finding your mojo @Jollyholibobs and koko over Christmas- sounds like you have a decent plan which I think is the biggest thing. It’s much easier to stick to if you’ve thought it through, considered potential hurdles and how you might leap over them.

@pinknsparkly almost 2 dress sizes? Flipping heck! 🎉🎉

Pizzas successfully swerved tonight - steak & salad for me! Lunch was a really lovely ‘Greek salad’ - lettuce, toms, cucumber, olives, lamb strips, feta & tzatziki - blooming gorgeous! Managed to smuggle it through security & finish it on the plane. Rest of family thought I’d have to bin it. I think they swallowed their burgers whole.
Great to see FIL tonight - 5 years since we were last here so it has been a while - especially for my 3 DDs. DH has managed a couple of visits more recently. Seeing MIL tomorrow for a pub lunch. FIL will collect her from the nursing home. I think we could be a little shocked. But will be so lovely.
Delighted to see a coffee machine at this Airbnb that has a FROTHER! Have bought cream so will dilute with water as suggested by *FinallyHere’ and have a little coffee treat. I’ll have to limit myself as this could easily spiral out of control!.

prettybird · 23/12/2022 09:08

We've just bought a Beko bean-to-cup machine that was a Which? Best Buy. It was only Xmas Wink £199 - and I decided against spending the extra £20 or £30 for the steam frother as we don't make cappuccinos and are already used to heating the milk for dh's latte in the microwave Xmas Smile We've been using it far too much since we got it Xmas Blush twitches Xmas Wink

In really good news, I achieved my challenging target this morning Xmas Shock: just under 11st 10lb Xmas Smile That's over 1.5 stone this Boot Camp Xmas Smile

ZiggZagg · 23/12/2022 10:05

Fantastic @prettybird ! Running bootcamp has been very rewarding for you! Must be something about the accountability Xmas Grin

I'm trying to KOKO but Christmas food all around me and I had cake for DSs 5th birthday party!

I have kept LCHF in mind and am doing a Spanish style buffet Christmas Eve, lots of cheese, olives and cold cuts.

Also needing to be better with water, that's slid a bit. A day of Christmas cleaning today to get some exercise in Xmas Wink

prettybird · 23/12/2022 11:30

My two great takeaways from this Boot Camp are:

a) I am not a human trash can Grin

and

b) the habit of getting to bed before midnight Smile

In respect of a), I've just thrown out half a jug of chocolate sauce that I'd made to go with the ice cream I'd made for my db and his family (I'd not seen his family for c6 years as they moved to France after the Brexit vote) coming over on Wednesday Halo (it's an extremely easy ice cream but very calorific as it's simply cream, a can of condensed milk, an egg and some vanilla paste whipped together, frozen and then rewhipped before freezing again. I did have a small portion Xmas Blush)

We have our big Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve so today I'm frantically preparing so that I'm not too frazzled tomorrow. Xmas Shock

I've got a cut'n'colour booked for tomorrow morning so that's at least one oasis of calm Xmas Smile

So far today, I've made the base for the rice pudding (just need to whip the cream and fold it through tomorrow, plus put in the single whole almond for the Almond Prize), put two hams on the boil (boiling SIL's one too as the pot is so large it fitted both: she'll have to finish her own glazing though), prepared the brining solution for the turkey, prepared the dough for two sourdough loaves that a friend has asked me to bake for her (will put them in the oven tomorrow morning and dh will get them out), hung out a coloured wash, watered the tree, bought a pheasant, prepared the poolish for sourdough milk dinner rolls, ironed the napkins for tomorrow.....

I might even lose another pound by tomorrow! Xmas Grin

FinallyHere · 23/12/2022 12:53

@prettybird achieved my challenging target this morning

Brilliant, well done. High five for Bootcamp

(I too have hairdresser related activity. In the chair having the works as I type )

prettybird · 24/12/2022 08:07

I'm sure you look gorgeous now @FinallyHere Xmas Smile

All my running around yesterday lost me another pound so I'm down to 11st 8 3/4lb - so only iirc 2lb more than I was last year Xmas Smile

I doubt I'll weigh in tomorrow Xmas Wink - although as we've discovered, sometimes the impact of an off-piste meal (as tonight's will be Xmas Blush) isn't felt immediately Xmas Confused - and I still have a load of running around to do today Xmas Grin

Just about to review my list of things to do (which includes things I didn't complete yesterday) and work out the order of getting them done before going off to the hair dresser's.

Baystard · 24/12/2022 08:52

Well done on surviving a hectic day @prettybird, that food all sounds wonderful - your family and friends are very lucky!

Our big Christmas meal is also today, I'm a huge fan of not spending Christmas day cooking and trying to remember to do things.

One of the last few social gatherings of the year yesterday and I was truly thrilled to discover the buffet included a huge cheeseboard and meats/smoked salmon, so I ate well and without guilt (if you don't count a good dozen red grapes, which were my f* it it's Christmas concession). No bread, crisps or crackers consumed Grin

It might sound like I'm being a bit mean to myself but a couple of Christmases ago I was in a similar good place and then on 24th decided to have a few days off. I went straight for the quality street and then spent several days compulsively eating a wide variety of processed shit and feeling really awful. It confirmed that my brain might find highly processed food addictive but the rest of my body hated it and I felt like I'd been poisoned.

Quietly appalled by how much Big Food have got their claws into Christmas, I don't think I'm exaggerating if I say that the kids have been given chocolate or sweets every day of the last fortnight, mostly at/by school or various clubs/activities. I know it's Christmas but we're only 6 weeks after the splurge that was Halloween.

Jollyholibobs · 25/12/2022 09:19

Merry Christmas everyone. All ready for a low carb Christmas here. 🎄🎅🏼🎄🎅🏼🎄

Passtheturkey · 25/12/2022 10:01

Merry Christmas everyone! Hope you have a lovely day.

comfortablylesslumpy · 25/12/2022 10:12

Merry Christmas all!

@pinknsparkly well done on the small size trouserage! Brilliant NSV 😀

Weighed in yesterday at total 37lb loss since April. So feeling really chuffed to end the year on that.

I went to friends yesterday and there was very little to eat that wasn't carb. In the end I decided to eat what I fancied within moderation - I don't think it will have been too horrendous really, will be interesting to see whether it does impact on next week's weigh in.

But interestingly ... these days I don't eat breakfast until about 11.30/12. I just don't get hungry until then. (And pre-LC I used to be a big breakfast eater). But this morning after my carby meal, I was ravenous at 6am. Just shows you!

Today I am cooking. I wikl be having celeriac mash instead of roasties, the rest will be fine, might allow a bit of stuffing and gravy.

Happy Christmas everyone - have a wonderful day x

NotDonna · 25/12/2022 10:19

Merry Christmas everyone. All done and dusted here. Very large lunch and not too carby other than the desserts and two glasses of champagne. I’ve had a fair bit of water though as it’s 32’c! But maybe in such hot weather it doesn’t really count so much. It certainly wasn’t LC but not too disastrous either.
Tomorrow could be tricky as it’s out of my control at the other SIL’s place for a BBQ - hoping there’s a no carb salad alongside the meat/fish. A lot of salads seem to be rice/pasta/potato based. It’s also my niece’s birthday so I’ll need to swerve the bday cake!
Enjoy the rest of your Christmas Day!

NotDonna · 25/12/2022 10:30

@comfortablylesslumpy wow 37lbs is flipping amazing, well done you!! Interesting what you say about a carby eve making you hungry for bfast. I don’t eat til midday either (just not a bfast person), so let’s see if I’m a bit peckish in the morning. I think the puds today will have done some damage as it’s the first puds I’ve had for ages. Still wish I had some scales!
