Pre Christmas 22 Boot Camp: the Final Weigh-In!

prettybird · 12/12/2022 08:16

Good Morning Campers on this cold and crisp morning! Smile Time for the final weigh-in of this Pre-Christmas Boot Camp Xmas Shock. @FinallyHere will be along shortly with the link to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness Xmas Smile

I hope you've enjoyed this Boot Camp and that you've achieved at least some objectives, either or both SVs and NSVs FlowersXmas Smile.

I've certainly enjoyed running it in @BIWI's not quite total Wink absence (I really appreciated her contributions - she has so much knowledge and experience Smile). As well as @BIWI and @FinallyHere's help, I'd also like to thank @StuntNun who also added her knowledge when called upon. And of course, all you lot. The support we give each other is also what helps make these Boot Camps so successful - as well, of course, because this WoE works Xmas Grin

This thread will continue on over Christmas until it fills up (which i doubt, as we've not been as busy as in some previous Boot Camps).

There's still time to lose a few more pounds/kg before Christmas if you want to - I know I still have a target of another few pounds Xmas Shock - but I'll be happy with just one or two as I've already lost over a stone this Boot Camp Xmas Smile (official weigh-in tomorrow after having non-BootCamp compliant supper at my Dad's last night Xmas Blush)

Awe, lovely @comfortablylesslumpy

NotDonna · 13/12/2022 08:17

Yes much better!
Im the same re everywhere but middle. Face looks slimmer and there’s tons of space in my bras 🙄 around my ribcage seems slimmer too so maybe it’s working it’s way down? 😊

pinknsparkly · 13/12/2022 08:30

Morning all. Yesterday I lost the 1kg I'd put on last week so am happily on an overall downward trajectory! My fitbit app also informed me that I've lost over 20kg with this way of eating. Which is mindblowing to be honest given that it doesn't feel like a hardship at all. If I'm hungry, I eat. If I fall face first into carbs one day I just pick myself up and start again the next day. If it's a social situation and I need to eat something carby then I'm good at picking the least carby things on the menu. If I'm in a cafe for a quick bite and there's nothing low carb, I'm happy with a cup of tea or coffee and top myself up with a snack later without feeling deprived.

pinknsparkly · 13/12/2022 08:34

@NotDonna , I'm exactly the same on the bra front. I don't like clothes shopping at all so that is the only real downside of the WOE for me!

@comfortablylesslumpy - a much improved username 🎉

@prettybird @FinallyHere thank you so much for taking on the challenge of running this bootcamp, as others have said I try to follow a low(ish) carb diet all the time but it's a million times easier to stay motivated during bootcamp!

NotDonna · 13/12/2022 08:46

@pinknsparkly maybe I should get a wonderbra! Dyou remember those? I’m another who dislikes shopping and a lot of my tops look really huge and baggy esp jumpers yet my jeans fit the same as before. I’ve the renpho app/scales and although the BMI is now under 25, the fat percentage is still an annoyed bright red at 33% - needs to be 27/28 to turn ‘acceptable’ so another 6% is 9lbs. See this is really helpful as I probably would have thought ‘ooh 10lbs down, good BMI, no boobs, probs can stop here now’ whereas the fat percentage has confirmed that I do need to keep going. Which I do know.
Will there be a new year boot camp please?

emptythelitterbox · 13/12/2022 08:52

Really inspired by everyone's results!

Will there be a New Year Bootcamp? I'd love to join.

BIWI · 13/12/2022 09:57

Love the new name @comfortablylesslumpy Grin

@NotDonna that menu doesn't look too bad, all things considered. And it sounds lovely as well!

Some really good results here, and I'm so glad that low carbing/Bootcamp seems to be working so well. Occasionally I drop into one or two of the threads on Weight Loss Chat, and it's very rare that by the end of whatever diet/plan they're talking about that many people are still there, or have anything like the results that we see with low carbing. I think the key to success is not only having threads like this, but also (probably more importantly, actually) is being able to enjoy food/eating, rather than feeling deprived all the time.

I'm cogitating when to start the next Bootcamp - definitely some time in January, just not decided quite when yet. In the meantime, a huge thank you to @prettybird for taking on the challenge of running this one. I've enjoyed being more of a passenger this time around!

NotDonna · 13/12/2022 10:09

Your passenger presence has been invaluable BIWI and no one would know prettybird hadn’t run it a thousand times before!
Does anyone have a free app for iPhone where they can monitor their intake of water, bedtime days not drinking etc please. Ones I’m finding are payable. Thanks x

comfortablylesslumpy · 13/12/2022 18:03

Oooh yes, I know BMI is not terribly exact- but I have gone from the Obese category into Normal range, without starving myself in the process!

Baystard · 13/12/2022 20:41

Huge achievement @comfortablylesslumpy Flowers

debka · 14/12/2022 08:36

Stayed the same this week, but a total loss of just over a stone. Clothes feel looser and I'm very happy. Think I'll try to maintain over Christmas then see if I can drop another few pounds in the new year.

BIWI · 14/12/2022 08:49

@debka clothes being looser is much more accurate - as well as rewarding! - than the number on the scales. Brilliant Flowers

prettybird · 14/12/2022 09:08

That's the most important NSV @debka Smile - even more important than the numbers on the scales.

Talking of numbers on scales - I'm now down to 11st 12lb (was 11st 12.5lb yesterday) so it looks like I should make my objective of 11st 9lb (or less Xmas Wink) by Christmas Xmas Smile

It usually takes me 6 weeks or so to break the habit of snacking (yes, I know it's in the Rules only to eat if you're genuinely hungry Blush) but I seem to have finally done so, which is helping Smile

I haven't tried my "good" black trousers on again this week, but I'm hoping that they'll be looking better.

I got to just under 11.5st last Christmas but I think that's expecting a bit much! Xmas Shock

OP posts:
prettybird · 14/12/2022 09:18

@comfortablylesslumpy - that's an absolutely brilliant NSV. Just think of the difference that will make to your health too. Flowers

I've enjoyed running this Boot Camp - it's has really helped my focus and helped me lose 1st 5lb so far Halo

I'm already looking forward to @BIWI's next Boot Camp in January. Whatever date it starts, I'll probably start a bit early so I'll have been able to have completed the 2 strict weeks before Burns Night Grin

One of the best things I have got from this Boot Camp (aside from the weight loss Wink) is the reminder that I am not a human trash can (sounds better in American Grin) and that the bin is the best place for any stuff left over if dh and ds don't want it. That should help reduce the damage of the Festive Period Xmas Smile

OP posts:
prettybird · 14/12/2022 09:25

@emptythelitterbox - @BIWI has said she is planning on starting one some time in January.

In the meantime, you can still join in as we'll be continuing with the support on this thread. Smile

@pinknsparkly and @NotDonna - it really is worth booking an appointment at Bravissimo and treating yourself to at least one new bra. You'll be amazed at the difference it makes and you are worth it. Flowers

@pinknsparkly - this WoE is wonderful for making it not a hardship just to have a coffee or a glass of water in a cafe and not being driven by hunger (hangry Wink) and falling face first into carbs just because they're there Confused

@emptythelitterbox welcome! Yes, I'll definitely be picking the reins back up from @prettybird and will run the next one in early January. Just need to settle on a date that will allow people time to get over Christmas/prep for it!

Probably around the second week in the month.

pinknsparkly · 14/12/2022 11:55

@prettybird I totally agree with your point about the human trash can (also agree it sounds way better in American!). And I had a MEGA MEGA family NSV last night in this area. I made a lot of fudge last weekend (trying out a recipe for Christmas gifts and it made rather more than I expected). Despite taking an entire tupperware worth to work, we've still got some left in the fridge. My husband is a huge fudge fan (and a general sugar monster), but last night he suggested to me that we throw it in the bin as otherwise we'll just eat it all. He's not following low carb dieting (he'll eat what I cook for tea, and tells me not to bother adding carbs for him, but he still eats lots of bread/pasta/cereal during the day and won't ever give up his desserts or diet soft drinks) but has clearly picked this up from me somewhere along the lines!

@BIWI , looking forward to the next bootcamp and any time from 3rd Jan works for me 😄

Baystard · 14/12/2022 19:21

@BIWI I'm looking forward to January already.

I made mince pies at the weekend but so far have avoided eating any and, to be honest, I've not really been tempted.

B- fasting
L- tomato omelette
D- lamb curry dredged from freezer with home made cauliflower pakora. They use chickpea flour but it's lower carb than wheat flour and doesn't need much.

It's been too cold for drinking water but today I tried just topping up my mint teabag with hot water and it was fine, more interesting than plain hot water.

prettybird · 14/12/2022 19:51

I'm still struggling to go back and reply to all the previous posts Blush but just quickly wanted to reply to @pinknsparkly : good on your dh for suggesting you throw out the extra fudge (although why not just give it to some of your neighbours even the ones you don't know as a "random act of kindness" Wink)

I've made multiple batches of tablet over the last few weeks (for the women's rugby team, friends and also as gifts - plus we put in a small bag into the boxes of wine that we sell). I haven't had a single piece - but only because I can't have a single piece BlushWink

I am thinking ahead to Christmas survival. I have so far survived two work dinners without feeling I had strayed much so all good.

I had a birthday recently so made myself a dark chocolate cake (the best ever chocolate one on the sugar free Londoner website) and have frozen slices of it. I can then defrost for a bit of indulgence without guilt - will be handy for over Christmas when it comes to puddings!

Any suggestions for other strategies?

I will make one of those for New Year with friends too. It is very rich so feels very sinful. (Disclaimer - it does have some sweetener in it, which I generally avoid) .

If I can get down to 11st for Christmas I will feel so good, so going to see if I can. :)

Amazing losses on these threads. I hope we will give ourselves a big pat on the back. I definitely regard my weight loss as a team effort, as you guys have made it really do-able. You rock!

NotDonna · 15/12/2022 03:02

Oh@prettybird if only I had something to put into a ‘bravissimo’’. When I said my bras are empty I meant it. You’re absolutely right that I should treat myself though.

The human dustbin mantra has really resonated with me too. It’s really stuck and something I know I’ll always remember.

Currently driving (well DH is) down to Byron Bay after 34 hours of travelling. Feel very bloated, had plane food, but kept away from anything obviously carby (albeit I think there was some tiny pastas in the salad on the domestic flight) and have drunk gallons of water. Would absolutely love to maintain during the 3 weeks here and then lose 7lbs or so in the new year.

BIWI · 16/12/2022 10:15

Just to let you know, the next Bootcamp will start on 9 January 2023. The lovely @FinallyHere will once again be womanning the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness, and I'll be wrestling The Big Stick back from @prettybird

Sign-up thread will be up shortly.

BIWI · 16/12/2022 10:22

Sign up thread is here

Skiphopbump · 16/12/2022 10:32

Thanks @BIWI for running the next one so soon! I had such a great success with the last one that I’m hoping the next will be the same. I’ve already got a target in mind of 16lbs from where I am now, I fully expect to regain a bit over Christmas so I will probably need to drop more than 16lbs by then!
