Week 2 - Jan 22 Low Carb Bootcamp Thread

As I'm doing more and more often, I'm starting the next week's thread on a Sunday evening.

This is because, since I've retired, I am no longer controlled by the tyranny of my alarm clock, and so will often sleep too late on a Monday morning for all the keen Bootcampers!

I love the first post of week 2, because for all those who are new and/or are sceptics about low carbing, this is the point at which they may realise just how effective a low carb WOE can be.

Anyway, here is the spreadsheet, and I really look forward to seeing everyone's progress

Flowers for us all

Moving on to Bootcamp Light

... or are we?!

So from tomorrow you have a choice. You can stay on Bootcamp if you are finding that it suits you, or you can move to Bootcamp Light, which means you can allow some nuts/seeds, some fruit (mainly berries) and alcohol in moderation.

However, you also need to be mindful of the fact that weeks 3 and 4 are notorious for little or no weight loss - and sometimes you might see a slight gain.

So if you want to, you can stay on Bootcamp. Or you can adopt a hybrid - Bootcamp during the week and Bootcamp Light at the weekend.

Sorry @NigellaAwesome it's shit and I hope once he has time to reflect he will apologise profusely.

PS what did you stuff the peppers with? My go tos - breadcrumbs, couscous etc. are out.

@UnexpectedItemInShaggingArea

This is the recipe here. I did use a tiny amount of butternut squash, and also added finely chopped mushrooms. The amount here did 6 peppers and I found even one really filling. I like the ideas in the blurb for extra veg.

Thanks @NigellaAwesome that looks amazing. Definitely one to try this week.

I have freezer envy. Mine is tinsy winsy, but I am a congenital over-caterer.

On my own again, so did my stand-by fail-safe for next few dinners: a little poussin which I spatchcocked, roasted with celery, spring onions, garlic. Then added mushrooms, mustard, tarragon, stock and cream. I cut up two gem lettuces and let them wilt in the sauce at end.

I looked up a few inspiring recipes in my new Nigel Slater bk on Sat, but when I got to supermarket I couldn't remember any ingredients, so ended up doing almost same as last week.

Don't think I'll have lost this week, but I'll try harder from now!

🙈 been a bit rubbish this weekend. Alcohol (wine) and a few carbs. Wasn’t strict enough at social gatherings. Expecting to have gained when weigh tomorrow. I’ll stick with strict Bootcamp & see what the scales say before doing Bootcamp lite.

Despite my digressions I have drunk all the water each day & done lots of exercise. Hope that mitigates some of the carb damage.

I don’t have that much to lose but I do want to get back to pre-Christmas weight & a few extra pounds off. I feel so much better on this WOE so feel cross with myself for slipping off the wagon so soon. Anyway will crack on this week….

Good luck for those doing weigh ins tomorrow and logging NSV.
